Lived in the Philippines for 6 years. Had one of these with a double-sliding-door van body. 5-speed, turbocharged, intercooler, fuel injected, 4wd, power steering, A/C, electric windows. It was a rocket!! Wish I could get another one here.
This video does not show this truck like it really should. We own 4 of the these and we removed the stock turbos which suck and replaced them with larger ones. All are fuel injected. Replaced the injectors. Repiped the turbo/exaust. Computer has been adjusted. 2 are automatic 2 are 5spd full post rear limited slip front all are 4drs with a/c and hear. Fully loaded. Now these are FAST. All will burn rubber. Now that's what you must do to make these small trucks perform.
I have the Suzuki Carry van had from new for 20 years with 183 000 Miles engine and gearbox run like new Engine oil changed every 10 000 serviced every 2 years for a 1:3 liter engine really can’t complain without doubt the best 5k I ever spent in my life.

Thats so fresh, not like here in Philippines vehicles came from Japan are being chopped on the cabin part unloaded from a container van thats full of the same class vehicles
The wife and I want one of these for hauling Lumber from Home Depot for projects. Put a full rack on it. Make it so that we can close up the sides. Then do firewood runs with it and take it on hunting trips. We both have daily drivers... but this would be a great economical all rounder to drive 2,000-5,000kms a year. Mostly 80kph and under but with the ability to do a few 100kph stretches would be nice.
They also have swaps you can do with these that might be beneficial for those who use the truck more than just once in a while. Any performance mods for speed need to go hand and hand with suspension IMHO, these trucks weren't really meant to be driven at highway speeds with the stock setup. But hey, it's just my .02🙃

goracks69 we definitely market to the off-road and rural customer. 80 kph roads and under are no problem and these units are surprisingly solid going down the road
goracks69 still faster than a cyclist or piece of farm equipment. I ran a non-turbo as my daily driver for 5 years and yes it is slow but you adjust your driving habits. Makes you a better driver in my opinion.
Really varies from province to province, but more importantly insurance company to insurance company. Look for a broker who has access to specialty companies who will actually asses the vehicle for what it is. Lots of companies paint all RHD vehicles with the same brush so don't even consider mini trucks even though they are not $40,000 400hp Skylines. So the moral of the story is shop around. Also type of use matters. For instance I just had a customer insure his for off-road use here in Alberta for $350 a year.
To compare, which Kei Truck would fit my needs? I'm looking at the Honda Fit AWD (5-Speed), Suzuki Carry AWD (5-Speed), and the Mazda Bongo AWD (5-Speed)... Also as to Washington State Regulations, 1994-5 or older for Street use. My MAIN problem is the Highway Speeds where I will need up to 80-85mph required for SAFE Interstate Highway Speeds! Plus, how much weight CAN I load in the bed? I typically take my 1991 CRAFTSMAN GT6000 (~900lbs) over the Cascade Mountain Range to my Sisters Property, for Tilling and Grading. I'm not sure if I will be able to answer your question definitly but I can tell you you DO NOT want a Kei Class 660cc mini truck of any brand if you need to haul a 900lb load and do 85mph as they would do neither of those things well. You would be best to look in to the bigger heavier Toyota TownAce / LiteAce, Mazda Bongo Truck, Nissan Vanette Truck, Mitsubishi Delica Truck as they will do the speeds and are good for over 1500lbs payload
Trouble is --you cannot get parts anymore for any Suzuki car or truck in the U.S. Suzuki pulled out of the USA years ago. IAC valves for any Suzuki are non-existent!
I have the idea of getting one of these and parking my motorcycle in the bed. My motorcycle is roughly 400 so I know it can handle the weight, but how would it do for mileage? Any idea?
These trucks get basically same mileage loaded or not, geared soo high that they basically don't notice the load, and they are not very aerodynamic either, I love mine, will never give it up!

I love the mini trucks but I am too tall 6 `2 pretty cramped for me! But I did drive a minivan 4x4 it had adjustable seats so it looks like I might go that route? I haven't had the opportunity to sit in extended cab mini truck yet? So I'm on the fence still? If anybody that is over 6 foot that has sat in the extended cab and drove it, let me know how it is if the driver seat adjusts back enough thanks.
Hi I've been scouring the internet for info on turbo mini trucks. I'd like to get one in BC eventually. Do you know any more chassis codes, engine codes etc. That could help a guy track down one of these factory turbo trucks
getsmartr for these newer style suzuki trucks the Turbo was only offered as factory in the 1999 DB52T, the engine is an f6a Turbo.... The f6a Turbo is very common in the suzuki every vans as well as the Jimny and many other suzuki cars but just the one model 1 year on the trucks.
But actually if one wanted something that has a size of that but they require them to at least having 80hp and up, i guess the Mega Carry (LWB Version of these) and the Daihatsu GranMax (same, LWB version of the Hijet, and over at Indonesia top of the spec has a 1.5L engine that creates around 100 hps which makes a good desire to at least take these trucks to cruise on the highway
Thats a tough one sorry, we actually don't deal in the older Honda's as when we were getting into the business and doing our research we were told by a mini truck dealer down in the US that had been dealing trucks for 20 years that they will not sell the older Acty's as they are known for many reliability issues. For this reason we have stayed clear of them and have actually had quite a few customers with them contact us looking for major repair parts.. engines, transmissions etc. Because of this we haven't looked into them at all so I don't even know what they run at. I would say probably one of the cheapest trucks you can buy though especially in 2wd.... I apologize we can't be of more help on that one.

+knightrider1545 we just run whatever comes stock. The Suzuki Carry Turbo for example makes 64hp in their trucks, vans and the Jimny SUV. As far as I know the block is the same but they do run different pistons and head. Arctic Cat took the Suzuki 660 block and added their own Turbo etc on their T660 snowmobile making 110hp

On your own property, this, or even the non turbo 600cc would probably be a hoot. But it seems dangerously slow for Canadian roads.

These were never part of the US market anyway. We get all of our parts direct out of Japan. Still very good availability.

The 92-94 V6 tempo would do 0-60 in 7.8 seconds. Ford detuned the 3.0 with 13 degrees less duration on the cam.
made for the small streets of Japan... most roads don't go over 50 mph... that is what the bullet train is for 200mph+

The non turbo is only about 16hp less. 100kph is wide open top speed for these little guys.

Ktunbright Ktunbright not this factory turbo no. There are a lot of changes to the motor vs a non turbo. I don’t know of any bolt on turbo kits.

We only deal in Japanese trucks. They are all right hand drive.
