Thank you for this video, could not find any other videos about the Gravitas Dinkey.
As always it's a pleasure - enjoy ! :D
I'm glad Gravitas keeps on delivering awesome pens,
since Ben had been pretty silent lately.
Anyway, thank you!
Glad you like them! This was a project with a lot of passion and work hours poured in it and from what I know and what I've seen... ben was quiet and working but for many very good reasons, soon to be unveiled
Thanks Emy. I love the way that Ben Walsh is shaking up the world of fountain pens. It’s so exciting.
:D Ben is on fire and 2024 is going to be amazing judging on what we will see next from Gravitas
Gravitas and Pen Venture showing why this is a great collaboration. And we find out at least part of what was behind the Damascus Steel story from your earlier interview. :) Thanks for the video.
Couldn't agree more! As of now some of these are not yet shipped and available for us but they'll be and I cant wait to get my hands on some of those carbon ones and Damascus
Exciting developments! Thanks for sharing, Emy.
Glad you enjoyed it! These pens are going to be a neat addition to the whole Gravitas line up and im finally sharing my favourite (tungsten) with everyone
Such a brilliant detailed review. That is a beautiful fountain pen. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for the feedback 😃 appreciate every bit of support
Wow! So many awesome metals to choose from!
Yes indeed! :D we will soon get the others as well and I'll be a great package with all of them
Wow! Thanks for the amazing review as always Emy!
Hey there Tom :D thank you for the feedback - happy to share these with everyone
At first I said: way too small/slim for my taste. But then.. come on! Damascus and carbon fiber!!? You got my attention Emy 🙃
How about Pockets in those materials too 😉
:D great minds think alike - as these Dinkeys will be starting to move the most sold versions will find themselves going towards the Pocket series :D shhhhh dont tell anyone but I think this is what we will see from Gravitas in the next months
@@pen.venture that will be just chef's kiss! These are superb materials and Gravitas craftmenship is just brilliant.. I'm curious to see how the damascus steel will feel in the hand. I love damascus steel; I have knives made from it. I would love an FP too 😊
:D ben is quiet but working a lot, the stainless steel in Damascus is mesmerising and when you also get to see it and notice that the pattern is flowing with a pattern aligned cap to pen body when its capped... its just icing on the cake, also for sure I put in a good word to have these materials on the Pocket size pens because they need some diversity and exotic materials
Great video and pens!
I was wondering, will there be any new materials added perhaps in the near future? Thanks!!
Yes, soon we will have some new materials in this series (as a spoiler.... a skittle like dinkey will pop up) :D
Hey! Thanks so much for the video! I recently purchased a Gravitas Pocket FP from you guys and love it! Will be leaving a review on the website soon. However, I love the production of your videos. Can you provide some details on your setup? Which lights you use, camera body, lens, mic, etc. It looks fantastic!
Awesome! Thank you Christopher :D enjoy your new pen :D hmmm we use a 2 camera set up, the main is a Sony FX3 cinematic camera with 17-28mm F2.8 tamron glass + the over head is a SONY a7300 with a 18-135 F3.5-5.6 sony glass :D the lights we use are from NANLITE, a big 300w one and a 150W smaller over head light plus a tube light for some contour flair - mic we use Lav mics from Rode
I'm really worried about Ben Walsh, the owner of Gravitas Pens. He hasn't said anything in almost two months. Does anybody know if he is ok? I'm worried something might have happened to him or his family.
he is doing ok, lots of orders to pack and also innovation that demands so many resources, Ben is gong to come out with some interesting stuff next and I cannot wait to show everyone what we are working on and soon a lot will make sense
These video's are horrible Emy... bought a Gravitas pocket pen after watching your review (some time ago), very happy with it, but now i want to buy one of these as well 🙈...help💶💰✒
Good to know! First when I seen " these videos are horrible... " I was like ... damn what did I do wrong?! :)) funny is that we are in the same boat ... got one myself and I'll be waiting on that carbon fiber to arrive in stock
Ran to ur site, some variants are not in the list?
as mentioned some variants are not yet delivered to us so we only listed the pens we have in inventory and ready to go. soon the others will be listed as we receive them
Now I want an updated Sentry, but in those materials and with all the new details (like the inner sleeve in the cap!)
18:30 just to clarify, are you guys (Pen Venture) checking the nibs or is the Gravitas (the manufacturer) checking the nibs? Thanks.
We check all nibs on the pens we sell, regardless of the price / brand / model - we as the last set of hands in contact with the pen before the user, we don’t leave anything to chance - doing this both for the suppliers and also for our customers
@@pen.venture wow, this is good to know. Can you share how you are checking the nibs? Inking them up and writing or is it just an inspection with a magnifier to make sure the thines are spaced properly and the nib is not bent, etc...?
thank you - there isnt a machine that checks nibs, its me that gets to observe each nib under a magnification glass, dip tested, mechanical adjustment and finally smoothing if needed. So its more of a complete process ... involving actual writing and following a set of checkpoints and procedures
Hi! When will the damascus one be available?
Not sure yet - we think that in the following weeks we will have it
Hello, what's the ink capacity when eyedropper-ed ? Very good looking pen by the way. If i get it, i'll probably swap its nib for a sailor 14k since the pen is thin. Have a nice day.
we have yet to measure the ink volume when eyedropper-ed, although its possible this conversion, we dont recommend it due to its inconsistency in the inkflow and its unpredictable - sometimes is wet sometimes is dry and sometimes is perfect ... better to stick with a converter :D If you have a way to get a sailor to jowo housing conversion kit ... it may work perfect
I think I want the cropinickle Dinky. Does it feel like its not a full size pen? I have a lamy safari and think its perfect size. Where the 2000 feels like its a sausage. And a fisher space pen thats to small to use beside quick note. Im hoping its portable like space pen but feals useable like safari.
It feels like a proper normal pen (not too big) - it’s comparable to a Lamy safari when posted.
These are gorgeous, so thanks, Emy! One question: will these pens work with some kind of converter? If so, what kind?
Yes they do I think - but it has to be one of those small kaweco mini convertors - they are called I think squeeze converters (with a rubber sac)
Wow. This is really tempting! The carbon fiber looks great. I'm curious, when the pen is posted, can the cap wiggle from side to side (like it does for the Pocket pen)? Or does the cap sit firmly without wiggle room?
That carbon would be so nice to have🙌🏻 it’s going to be available soon. Cap is stable but it needs to be posted not lightly, then it sits firm in place
I am waiting for in house steel nib which was announced few months ago by Gravitas. Do you have any idea when it is going to be launched? Or could you ask him? 😅😅
That nib is in work, for sure around mid year or after the summer break we will see it making its official launch. :D
@@pen.venture Oh nooo XD He said it will be in around February.. but all I can do is waiting XD
Any idea if this will be made in regular stainless steel? Thanks
hmmm I dont think they will be crossings of materials from higher series pens like the Pocket on these Dinkeys
Not happy about this company’s business dealings. According to the last update my pen that I ordered on their website after waiting 2 months finally shipped. One month later still waiting. This is ridiculous. No communication after three emails. Good luck if you order one.
Have you had this experience with us as a retailer and or store ? The relevancy of this is only if you experienced this with us, we are showcasing a comprehensive content which reflects the product aspects, we provide you and anyone with the posibility of having it from our store with a 24h shipping policy and all that we are expecting is feedback based on these factors and not what you experienced outside us
I love the copper section of the Tungsten and the Mokume-gane, but I fear the that the Dinkey is too small for my hand, I have no problems with the Pocket though
:D indeed it is a small pen, for me since I have the same mentality - I took the most heavy of them (tungsten) and it worked out well
I wish I could add the Delrin lining to the inside of my Titanium Pocket...
noted - ill pass this to Ben
