    I'm aware that the audio is a bit messed up for some people! If it really bugs you, you can try other headphones as it does depend on them.
    Otherwise, I will work to fix it for future videos!

    as someone who worked on EOL, having it called "too perfect" really rings a bell. It was fun and all honestly, but it did make it so that nearly every farm we could do afterwards was just not as good. One of the reasons i stopped playing in new versions, and moved to older versions (1.7 and 1.8), making good farms was just not satisfactory anymore

    There are always these "the most extreme farm" examples, but by the time you can do that type of thing you don't _really_ need any of it. Even gunpowder and bones have their useful limits. What I want to know is, "what is the most _overall efficient_ farm to build in the beginning of the game when even arrows are considered good loot and not yet thrown away. And when I say "overall efficient", what I mean is effort to build verses returns. Bonus if you manage to include overworld endermen spawning.

      I really enjoy a basic chickenator, you get a lot of cooked chicken and feathers
      You can use the feathers to get emeralds/arrows and the chicken is a decent food source
      It does require a trip to the nether tho, because of the comparator
      Now in general the endermen farm in the end is great, put some enchanting tools nearby and you get yourself everything you can possibly need for matters of enchanting: Trivializes a lot of things

    • @travcollier

      @@figloaldsIanxofour's pack spawning drowned farm is ridiculous. Takes like 10 minutes to build and you're player killing something like 30 drowned per second. Yeah, it is mostly for copper, but provides plenty of XP. It can also be used as a mob switch.
      Personally though, I've been playing carpetSky "everything from nothing" again recently, and really enjoying designing farms to get materials. My guardian farm spawns 20+k/hr and is built with just wood and water.

    • @rytre
      @rytre 7 місяців тому +2

      Yeah I agree with the person who says Ianxo farms as fast to build and still with making endgame or early game.
      Your problem sounds like it is you are incorrectly searching with "efficiency" when you should be searching for farms that are viable in early game.
      I see your problem: it's that efficient in the case of almost all farms is how MANY mobs it gets or the measurement of loot.
      What you want however is "efficiency" in terms of build-ability, and efficiency making something worth making that finds a single area between early game and endgame ability to have the value in making the farm with a reasonableness of the materials needed to make the farm.
      Example: think of the difference between the two XP farms-endermen XP farm versus Gold Zombified Pigmen XP farm
      Endermen XP farm takes early game blocks and can be build very early, and give an insane amount of xp for the time you made it in.
      You take the INSANE gold farms that maximize spawn rates and max out the xp intake, it is just overkill. I used this example because it is the pinnacle "endgame" farm since it takes hundred thousands of magma blocks (not easily accessible early game, or even in that amount without more farms).
      My recommendation: just search early game efficient farms when you are trying to find a farm to make, or watch ianxo4!

    • @jarimandarijn007
      @jarimandarijn007 6 місяців тому +3

      There are 2 types of farms. XP farms and item farms, for xp farms the best would obviously be the one that grants most xp. For items though a farm can quickly approach practically infinite production (meaning it gives more of that item than you can use of that item), so I guess it mostly depends on what items you find most useful. Personally I think the farm that saved me the most time is an iron farm.

    For anyone confused on the pack spawning roof explanation , let me try to connect the dots a bit better.
    Withought the pack spawn roof, the air blocks around the sides of the platforms would not be considered valid pack spawn origins as the height map is currently set to the grass blocks below those air blocks . When we build the roof , the airblocks now have something above them and therefore the heightmaps for those columns with the airblocks is now raised. Hence, those airblocks are now valid pack spawn origins and they can result in something spawning on the platforms even with an airblock origin.

    awesome video, highly enjoy when minecraft videos delve into some math.
    i'd highly recommend setting the gate release time on your mic to be a little longer, since it seems to be ducking very quickly resulting some consonant sounds disappearing.

    These types of efficient bedrock-level farms are actually a godsent on any sort of Skyblock server, where:
    - each island is its own server instance/shard/whatever
    - you don't need to clear up chunks of dirt and stone to build the thing
    This video would have been a godsent for me 8-10 years ago. Keep up the good work!

    youve certainly achieved your goal of a solid intro
    now i know why all those farms have the freaking giant roof
    i always assumed it was for light level reasons
    also watching the spawn probability simulation was super satisfying, especially whe ln you showed that when tiled it evens out
    an amazing video all in all, cant wait to see more from ya!

    At 30:30, you add in portals to reduce time to kill. It looks like it would be faster to just eliminate that water platform altogether and let them fall straight to the bottom. That makes your item collection area bigger and maybe more complicated, but is a simpler solution that wouldn't run into the same problems you would see on a multiplayer server or cause you to be going back and forth between dimensions to keep the farm going. I also wonder if using a flying machine to sweep mobs off the platform would work better than the water flushing because spawning spaces are eliminated when covered with water, but that would require some testing. Great video with lots of great info.

    I've built a ton of farms and I'm generally our servers go to for when something needs farmed in Vanilla or Modded. It's very interesting to finally get a better understanding of why the vanilla farms I use or repurpose for modded do the things they do. The understanding really makes me appreciate the insane skills and knowledge that go into the farms I take from youtube. Thank you!
