Shrike really was the best part of this entire movie. Should have focused entirely on him and he’s a fully CG character!
Agreed he was the only one with a good backstory and his infatuation with Hester was the best part of the movie. The campy love story between Hester and Tom was a total turn off for me. Good god they meet and 2 days later they're totally in love. 🙄
Well...I mean. Is motion capture "fully" CG? I would certainly never say so. Kind of dismisses Stephen Lang's performance to say "fully CG". That's like saying Golum/Smeagol from Lord of the Rings was "fully CG". Andy Serkis who?
Gotta love it when he screams HESTER SHAW!!!! Best thing going for the entire movie
Won't lie, it's a shame he got killed off but his final thoughts being of Hester and his own children is a very well made scene.
Well since a second movie isn't coming might as well tell ya he comes back in the second book. I mean he is the resurrected man so they literally resurrect him
@@benicioorsua8612 Oh, fair enough then
In fact, the very ending of the series features him awakening many, many years after the main cast have died, and telling their stories. It was honestly pretty dang bittersweet.@@TheIllusiveMan11
@@volmaaraldovahkiin5346 Didn't know that...good to know thanks
Hands down, Shrike carried this movie, hard!!!
How to tell the writer was clueless and lucky rather than skilled or talented; they killed off the _only_ interesting character with minimal resolution just past the halfway point of the film.
Spoiler alert!
In the books, he came back
@@boxtrolls6144 Spoiler alert!
In the movie, he doesn't.
The author of the book didn't write the movie, so bringing up what the original author wrote is irrelevant since we're talking about someone else's work.
They weren't lucky at all. The film was a massive flop
@@SuperNovaJinckUFO Please re-read the comment. "Lucky" was referring to writing an interesting character, not the film's success.
@@Thescott16 I wouldn't call that lucky, since Shrike was the most interesting character in the books and he was essentially pre-written for the film.
Who tf runs at someone with there spear not fucking facing the way of the enemy lmao
Maybe he tried to juke Shrike and attack him from behind.
Shriek franchise MUST begin!!! Pls
If you haven't already, read the books. There's the 4 Mortal Engines books, the Fever Crumb trilogy, and a short story called In The Bleak Midwinter. Shrike is one of the main characters in the Mortal Engines books, you learn his backstory in the Fever Crumb trilogy, and the short story is about him and Hester.
This movie had one thing going for it and that was shrike. Why they killed him is beyond me. But hay we got to see him in a livaction format and thats enough for me.
I know nothing about this movie or this universe and somehow this Shrike dude seems like the only interesting character in the whole thing.
He was definitely the best character in the books. It's a shame the film killed him off in Airhaven (and killed Airhaven) rather than sticking the the books.
In the books his origin story (whe he was human) goes back to the pre traction era.
Considering the fact that shrike could of been a valuable asset to her and and she could of repaired and tended to him to allow to flourish and be a father figure to her, she would of had him stay with her and her bf.
This is a great movie, I’m glad I saw it in the theaters! 🍿
I want an entire movie about the war that was so horrifying that it needed soldiers such as Shrike. Giving me serious Fallout vibes but way darker and more gritty.
Yup, it did give me a Nick Valentain vibe.
I guess it broke he’s heart at the end…
Shrike was the best thing about this movie. Some of the supporting cast were absolutely dire.
If you think about Shrike just really only wanted Hester not to be sad anymore
"HESTEEEER SHAAAAAW!!!🗣️🗣️💀👹👹🔪"
Imagine trying to bonk a bullet-proof robot.
man this is too sad I can't watch this especially as his memories flash before him after he dies, pretty sad she cares more for that dumbarse on the floor than the man/robot that took her in and raised her as a daughter.
Why is the character a dumbass? Please explain further.
@BrutusB-us8hd Why was the character a dumbass? Please explain?
Must have missed this Terminator sequel...
This movie had its faults sure but damn I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love it…..
The Necron have arrived...
This was one of the best movies i have ever watched....and this scene was a masterpiece🔥💯
lol
All the name I remember after watching this movie is “heeeesteeerrrrrrr”
shhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwww
the book is MUCH better than the movie, but even in the book, shrike died, at a later point though.
Shrike is actually the only character in the franchise that doesn’t die at all ^^’
Im love you movies really im loved
great Video.
I'm Your fan.
when the Super Mario Bros Trailer comes out we need to see it we are excited
I've read most of these comments.
But realistically shrike died of a broken heart and Hester realized she loved. Whatever his name is, the bottom line is. This is a great scene and when I first saw it. I got all choked up for some odd reason. Not the best movie, not the worst. This was probably the best part of the movie
the slightly annoying thing is, in the book Tom managed to stab Shrike through the chest with a sword and he shut down almost immediately. In the film, Anna manages a (smaller) chest stab in that fight but he keeps going for half this scene before that damage appears to catch up to him very suddenly. It's semi plausible and they managed to turn it into a thematically resonant moment, but it feels kind of anticlimactic in terms of the threat he posed. On a more intriguing note, Shrike letting Hester go is much more in keeping with his character in the last book than in Mortal Engines; they seem to have rushed Shrike's character arc at a furious pace to try and get the whole thing into this film before his apparent death, which would make sense if they wanted to tie it up neatly. But there's details like Shrike being the narrator at the very start that indicate they had the sequels and his later reactivation in mind. It'd be interesting to know what the plan was and if it changed during the production.
"Shrek's here"
bruh, movie did not do the books justice at all, please read the book series
By breaking her promise, this girl is directly responsible for so many needless deaths. Eh. Movie looked pretty poor. Jackson fell through the floor with this one.
Looks good
man this is so good
Awesomeness job
I thought it was the trailer for Halloween Ends don't get me excited like that 😭
que onda?
halloween ends is garbage
Not sure if it was the terrible acting or the story line that brought me back here 😬

Magnificent 😍❤
cool movie
Shrike was the only great thing about this movie
sad history of our kind.
STALKER FANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man this girl got problems ya'll
Too much CGI
there no flying baloons cities in real life, neither zombie robot skeletons, they need to use CGI
bungbo konye
Robot dies of a broken heart? 🙄
From what I understand, the brain is still in there… or something…
yes. A knife from shoes stabbed it
Praise our Creator for creating unique things like clouds. GOD alone is GOOD. All sin is temporary. Do not trust sinners. Trust Jesus who is entirely sinless.
I do not think that god is even good, but somewhat evil.

Tbh this whole movie is a huge mess and most of the acting is very bad
One Of The Worst Movies Is This
Wow the beginning of unnecessary wokeness in an action movie, sounds like everyone asked for that
you can't be real
That's just lazy writing.
Instead of dying, Shrike should have had a change of heart and joined Hester in the battle against Thaddeus Valentine and Thaddeus and Shrike should have had the last dance then that would have been an epic climax sequence.
Instead of that, they just killed off every interesting character in this movie.
That’s how it happened in the books. Shrike dies before Hester invades London. But he does come back 18 years later, when re resurrected by a scientist.
