@@TheChateauDiaries a dehumidifier in the bread oven room can prevent much of the dampness. Not all. My basement is no longer a dungeon due to a dehumidifier.
I follow Dan's' channel, Escape to Rural France, and another viewer there ,suggested it would be a nice gesture for the Lalanders to hold another picnic on his grounds, especially to celebrate the 200,000 subscribers he reached this past week! Some new viewers might not know that he singlehandedly built the gorgeous pergola in Lalande's walled garden! Also I really love the music and filming of Nic's working with the trees, speeded up, it was quite exciting. Thank you~
Phillip is a delight and a very talented young man. He approaches all that he does with wonderful energy and positivity and he brings a high level of good taste to LaLande.
I've been calling him Chuck, too bad his name isn't Charles (Charlie Brown) "Hey, Stephanie, WoodChuck is here" Or Woody (Toy Story) my niece has nicknames for all of her friends & family that are partial to only her. (She might be dyslexic undiagnosed) She is a lead surgery nurse at the hospital, so it might just be a cute quirk.
I love videos like this one! It makes me feel like I’m there with you all just watching everyone laughing and tackling their individual projects and responsibilities but still somehow working together for one purpose. It’s great. 😊
Loved the brief drone shots of the chateau and new gardens, would love to see more! It really helps viewers envision all the ongoing projects and their impact on the grounds.🤗
I'm not a professional but I don't think they need to take off all of the plaster. If it's holding up well it doesn't hurt to leave it up, just blend it together.

Nick is brilliant. I know nothing about trees. Someone needs to make Marion glacé out of chestnuts. You should make sure Philip photographs each dinner table and each place strings and put together a book. It could be setting, flower arrangements and recipes too. Great idea.
Listening to Nick talk about the plan for the nature of the château and the entire ecosystem is fascinating. He looks like someone who loves and respect nature and animals. That's so good to see. (I'm a big big lover of nature, animals, wildlife, etc. myself and it feels great to see that other people care).
Stephanie you did say you would give a quick explanation of the plans for the grand salon and bedrooms for those of us who are not in a position to be patrons. We are interested too.
Yes, sorry! I'll try to remember in the next vlog. But basically, we're planning to replace all of the beams in the grand salon with steels, so that the panelling will not have to move again for future repairs once it's installed.
Another great episode! 🦋 I'm so glad Stephanie and Dan have found Nick, what a great asset to the team. 🦋 Bread room is going to look great. Love that Marie isn't afraid to take on a new task. Excited to see its transformation. 🦋
Come on now. 😅 Surely you remember what Dan did in the pantry, removing the old plastering repointing. Rewatch that as a "how-to" video. 😂 Showing your thought process in the picnic menu and the making of everything and the gathering of friends is more like the old chateau diaries. Such fun!
Pavlina and Maria (just been told it was Sabina) in the pointing crew, so they can help pass the skills on also. It may turn into a week's job and Kevin can advice if they do the oven wall, as it leaks smoke and heat.
Yes, exactly, I felt like you did; it felt like the old Château diaries so spontaneous. I thought the same thing too for Philip and Marie with an ie to watch Dan château diaries Re pointing the pantry. 😊
Philip and Mummy's relationship is a joy to behold! And I absolutely adore Marie's attitude in wanting to learn new things. She has such a joy for life.

Amaury helped also and the hidden handyman. Davey added the trees and the Gardeners, Kirsty and Pavlina are doing the plants and grass. It is a team effort. ❤
I absolutely loved this episode. Nicks forest expertise, Marie’s enthusiasm. Phillip learning new things and enjoying himself. Maria obsessing over the lack of organization. And all of the lalanders being themselves and contributing to the lovely lunch and dinner. Ps I don’t know how Maria accomplishes so much each day!!
Nick is a true magician! He transformed the overgrowth and trees into a manageable and livable space! I could watch him all day! The bread oven room will be so beautiful when they’re done! (No comparison to Dan hanging from beams installing a floor!). I’m looking forward to hearing about the update on the chapel! Lovely to see Marie laughing and feeling at home at LaLande!
Another lovely vlog. The 50s picnic looked amazing but my favourite thing in the whole episode was seeing Marie laughing uncontrollably. I know she has has a few depressive issues (as do I) but to see her helpless in laughter was such a gift. La Lande she says is her happy place and it truly is if the hysterical mirth at your blackcurrant leaf sorbet is any guide. Long May her healing last.
The picnic table was so beautiful! If Marie & Phillip need help & Amery is busy, I think they could watch some of Dans videos, when he did the pantry & hall at LaLand 😁
Nick is doing a bang up job in the forest! And can I just say that you would be hard pressed to find another Bed and Breakfast with such a splendidly laid table! Between Maria’s food and Phillip’s table setting and Marie and Pavlina’s flower arrangements things have really evolved over the past 5 years! Perhaps using the bread oven more often would help to keep the “green” down. I am looking forward to seeing how Maria transforms it! 🌸🌼🌺
Dan is a master lime plasterer… I’m sure he’ll give you some pointers (if you’ll excuse the pun). I think you have to treat that wall if there is mold.

Happy Sunday to all of LaLande family and friends from a beautiful day in Northern California. Nick is amazing! Loved watching his work and seeing the log splitter so it’s amazing job on firewood. He is the best at revitalization of the forest and at Dan’s place. So much knowledge and love of nature. I love to hear him speak and his vision. The wild flowers, new growth, and returning animals to the grounds is all due to his work. The picnic looked very nice. Loved the laughter by all. Glad their will be a new flock of baby chicks. Philip and Marie working in the bread oven room was fun. Please use lime mortar to renew those beautiful stones and not plaster over if not needed. The room will be healthier for all. Praying the area around the bread oven will be fully fixed so it’s better to use . The table settings are always gorgeous. Seeing mummy full of spunk and dancing was very much fun and enjoyable. Read up on how to properly treat those lower walls to kill mold spores and leave open to dry out thoroughly before plastering over. Stay healthy!
