Wow! I'm at a loss for words. I'm very impressed with the work being done. George is an excellent body man. My car is in excellent hands. Thank you Nick, George, and George the camera man for this video.
Thank You Stephane for the opportunity to watch the restoration of your Charger. In the early '80s I had an Australian one with the "slant6", I gave it to a "short-term g-friend", bugger, wish I had it still.
Hey Stephane, I'm glad for you to have your dream car in good hands. I myself in the late 1980's rebuilt an Aussie muscle car, a Torana A9X, look these up. The one thing for me was I did not insure the car quick enough. 1 week after the car was fully restored my mates and I went on a drive to Phillip Island where we parked on the road near a beach. Later when we came back to the cars, mine was gone. It was found in some bushes not far from where it was parked. A truck ploughed into it and pushed it into the bushes. It was a total right off. Pls make sure you get this beauty insured.
My 1968 Charger died the death of disassembly when I was in my early 20s, back in the mid 80s.
I wish I had the knowledge and skill then to see it through to completion.
Congratulations so far and I am looking forward to the rest of this build!
Stuff like this inspires me to persist with my current build.
Can't polish a turd Steph except looks like Nick has managed to do so. I'm sure you'll enjoy this when it's done
This is great Stephane! @Nick's Garage Thank you for your work and your support.
I worked in an autobody shop for 17 years. The amount of skill and expertise to reassemble a car in this condition takes an artist in metal forming, welding, bodywork, painting and a complete knowledge of how the car was originally built at the factory. I think most people have no idea of how difficult it is to take a rust bucket and turn it into perfection. Making sure the doors close properly, the glass fits, aligning the hood and trunk to make sure all the gaps are correct so nothing binds up and looks correct. All these things take years of experience and hard work to make the job perfect for the customer. I know this personally how hard it is to achieve this. My hat is off to these men by bringing back a piece of muscle car history to be enjoyed again. I think Nick would agree.Bill from Linglestown, Pennsylvania
NOT MANY PEOPLE LEFT THESE DAYS THAT HAVE THE SKILLS TO DO THIS FEWER EVERY YEAR nICE TO SEE A REAL CRAFTSMAN AT WORK
Thank you for the pure description, I’ve been there and miss it a lot. I (We) get to witness an art right before our eyes. Nick brings the true joy experience, highlights the HARD WORK and talent. Well said.
Excellent, there's not many left that will put that kind of work onto old cars anymore
Nick you got the right man in the job.
Stephane, your Charger is in very good hands, and you will have an excellent car when George is finished with the body work and the paint. I have seen quite a few body men, and George is at the top of the list with the quality of his work. I'm following your build very closely, and I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far. You made the right decision just like I did by taking your car to Nick's garage for it's restoration. Take care my friend.
Thank you for the kind words Eugene. You must be looking forward to getting your car back.
@@stephane1052 I'm really looking forward to getting the 500 back so that I can enjoy driving it again. The progress on your R/T is amazing, and the metal work is just a work of art. George really knows what he is doing. The car will never know that it has new sheet metal, but at the end of your build you will have your dream car, and that is all that matters. Hang in there buddy, and enjoy the rest of your build!
@@eugenecastles7475 I'm sure it will be better than new the car will line up with no large gaps like the factory work back then . Cant wait to see it finished
Rebuilding this Charger is nice considering there’s no body damage that has to be pulled back into shape, just out with the rusted and in with the new
I've said it more than once and I'll say it again, best show on utube by far
There’s nothing better than tapping on a car and hearing the beautiful sound of solid metal echoing back at you, instead of giving it a tap and hearing chunks of rust hit the floor.
George and his shop crew are true craftsmen!
He'll have one sweet charger when it's done. I love it.
I love how George said every gap will be measured, hood, doors, fenders, trunk, every gap will be right on. I have seen Chris Birdsong do several of these and there is a lot of finess work involved to get all of these panels to fit perfect, I also just watched rust bucket restos just finish welding up his 68 Charger that was a skeleton as well, getting all of those gaps right is the hardest part, but it metal, you can move it if need be, way to go George.
Even if it is mostly AMD sheet metal, it's still awesome to see another second gen charger saved and restored!
I am just glad that Auto Metal Direct has stepped up to produce replacement panels and components for the older Mopars. It's getting harder and harder to find useable parts anymore.
Amazing that's gonna be one clean and fast Mopar! Call it Lazarus cause it was resurrected from the dead.
Amazing stuff....Thanks to all....Brought to you by Nick Garage in 2022.. 👍 Come on people less have more subscribers for Nick's Garage......🙏
That mans work is amazing. There are very few professional body men that can tackle projects like this. Most people don’t know one bad measurement in a restoration to this extent can fubar every panel on the car.
Glad stephane has the means to bring her back to the road... as they say, don't crush em, restore em!
Call it the Phoenix. It's rising from the ashes!
Great video and great progress on the 70’ Charger R/T. Since the car was brought back from the dead, let’s call the car “Frankenstein”.
I named my 68 Charger I'm finishing now Triple black with a 383 and black vinyl top.
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark . You are doing great work.
Back in 84 I worked in a paint store in hollywood. I had an emergency delivery to the dukes of hazard sound stage . As I walking up with my wheel dolley with the paint order there were 3 general Lee's parked there. I drove a 66 GTO at the time. I was going to check out those chargers before I left. As I got the invoice signed. A hush came across the crew. The crewmen parted way at the big doorway. 2 big german shepherds walked into sight followed by Cathrine Bach in full blown Daisy Duke costume. If you think she looked good on TV she was stunning in person. I forgot to look at the general Lee's. I don't recall much of anything for the next half hour. Just thought I would share.
WOW! Thanks for sharing a very cool memory.
Awesome Memories
Good evening all!!!! I’m always amazed at how technology has made it possible to restore cars that, when I was a boy, would’ve wound up scrapped. My dad was a body man for many years, and I used to watch him grinding and sanding for hours, then prime and paint. This car is coming together quite nicely, and I’m sure Stefan will be more than pleased. Hats off to everyone making this happen!!!!!
Seeing the car come together is amazing. The Chargers of that era had the most beautiful lines. As much as I enjoy the engine work and Dyno episodes, this series of videos has been fascinating. Have a great week everyone.
Couldn't agree more!
Nick it is so much fun to watch you at the body shop I can see the inner boy in you bouncing around and hear the true excitement in your voice . sense it has so much work being and to be done to it I think a good new name would be the resurrection .and if you get custom plates they should read 70/22CR .Between your shop and there body shop i believe if someone brought a totaled mangled pile of rust you would still be able to restore it to a condition of brand new .
That was fascinating seeing the car come back together. Glad George has invited us all in to see the progress. Thanks Nick!
These guys are masters at what they do for the muscle car world!
@@mopar507 Thanks Joe. Those guys certainly are. This is going to be cool to see another Mopar muscle car come back to life!
Great update,
The fabricator sounds exactly like Jackie Mason
Nick, I have seen many Mopar Enthusiasts, but none compares to your Love and passion for the Mopar. You go Bro.
Hey , just getting from Grandson's baseball games...love seeing 👀 this ol Charger coming back to life . George and his body shop krew are doing a great job with what they had come in ...this ol Charger needs alot of love and people who know what they are doing . Nick love seeing the progress and hanging out with Nick's Garage...Just saw where a super rare 1969 Charger Daytona 1 of 22 went for 1.3 million at
auction ...WOW ...hmmmmmmm....ol girl well worth saving ...they ain't making anymore . Hello to everyone at Nick's Garage....Take It Easy Nick , George, Manny, Melissa, and Krew!!!!!!!!
You are a loyal viewer and an excellent grandpa, sarge. We're glad you enjoyed the episode.
That was impressive to watch the car come together like that. You can tell George is at the top of his class in his field.
Name it Maleficent.
Expressing the very special synergy of the dark power and the beauty of pure elegance. Not sure if Stephans family would also accept the car named “Angelina” instead. Take care and stay safe, Nick, George and the team! Cheers Ulf
George, with his experience, makes it look easy. It's amazing to watch him and his staff work.
This is TRUE Artisans doin this, there are few people in the world 🌎 that can do this with this degree of pride and skill
This just became one of my favorite internet videos! When Nick said " This is really a 2022 Charger!" It hit me look at the skill and mountain of work to utterly raise these pieces of skeleton to a beautiful beast of a Muscle car from 1970! These gentlemen are the last if a dying breed that use all they got to give what will never be again- if not for them.
All I can say the man that commissioned this build must have very deep pockets. There must be less than 25% of the original factory metal left in this car.
BETTER STEPHAN than ME , ALL I CAN SAY
Love this!
Nick you know the most awesome people to help you!
They make it look easy, that's talent.
Phoenix is what I would call it. The car has risen from the ashes to come back to life
Good name Jake!
These guys are worth their weight in gold. Panel beaters that get the job done in a very reasonable time frame, and not years like others.
The Black Beauty for a name.
George and his crew are awesome. They are making a new car 🏁👏
I wish i could spend my days working with Nick learning the proper methods for restoring classic musclecars.
I never miss a minute of Nicks Garage, Let’s show them some love for all their hard work, hit the like button guys.👍🇨🇦
Thanks David.
@@NicksGarage This isn't a restoration, it's a replacement. You're pretty much just building a 'new' car (which is fine).
Once this project is complete, the owner Stephan, will have a documented history of how his dream car came into being. If that doesn't give you chills, you aren't a car-person.
It is one of the many reasons we enjoy making these video series.
Took the words right out of my mouth.👍
I was thinking the same thing while I was watching this episode. Cheers😊
George is one talented guy..... Nice to see his work Nick...... Gonna make one cool car!
Whoa! Watching an artist meld his craft is special. Thank you Nick and George “and” George. The 2022 1/2 Dodge Charger coming to life. 🥰😃👍
Black diamond !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello folks! Absolutely incredible!
Lasagna. The layers are coming together. With chese on top.👍
Love watching old school work going on in shops . Back after getting out of the Army went to turning wrenches myself working mainly at Truck Dealerships for 20 so years. I'm still amazed at the battery operated impact guns
(aka air guns) ...man, we were using the old heavy 1",3/4, 1/2 , and 3/8 drive Ingersoll Rands, CP, MAC TOOLS ,and Snap-On impacts back then ...I see all the battery operated stuff their using now . Man, Wish we had ,had those then ...lolololol...I know air will never totally be replaced, but tools sure have come a long way now from then ...BEST MUSCLE CAR CHANNEL ON UA-cam!!!!!!!! Man I love this show
This reminds me of model cars I used to build as a kid 🏎
Charger, here we go. Very nice work George. American pie
George is an Absolute Magician! His passion & talent is second to none. Nice job Amigo!
Hello there Nick.I thought I would tell you that my friends and i,I, from Burlington Vermont every new video. Love the show
I definately would let George rebuild the hood instead of buying a replacement. That way you will have an original from Georges garage which will be priceless.Great work in and on the video guys.
This body shop is fantastic. They are moving quickly. Progress is very fast. Thanks for this video. Nick, you found a great body shop
never miss Nicks garage Love it!
As usual thanks for posting yet another excellent video showing how the '70 Dodge Charger R/T is starting to come together, Nick! Watching this Charger being put back together is very informative and educational too.
Lookin good guys! Not long now see ya soon! (Yes I will remember to call Nicks cell and confirm everything lol) CHEERS!
I am amazed at the amount of body panels available for that car.
That's gonna be one great car with all the new metal parts. Way more new metal than old plus the paint is gonna be spectacular I'm sure. Nothing beats new stuff it's gonna be a brand new car. Gotta love it.
Wow, that was fast.
I knew that building models as a kid would benefit SOMEONE!!! GREAT WORK!
Amazing to see the car take shape. Nothing compares to the lines of the Chargers of that era. Have a great week everyone.
Thanks, you too!
Amen to that brother
Awesome work George.
Its pretty mind boggling how rough this car was being from Texas. But it sure is in capable hands! Looking great!
They rust out badly near the coast, like in Houston.
Hi Nick and George, Woe the 70 R/T is really coming along nicely. Most of the old panels have been cut away, getting ready for the new sheet metal. George the body man is an artist wit metal work, amazing.
You would get the idea that George never goes home.
@Eugene Castles you be burning rubber with yours?
cool 👍 The black Gouda
@@NicksGarage George is a dedicated body-man that won't settle for anything less than perfection, and yes I agree with you it would seem like he never goes home. He has done wonders to the R/T in a very short time, amazing work.
@@JC-fm9ps Very soon I hope JC, I'm looking forward to that for sure.
It's fascinating to watch the master at work. And Nick, I did a quick web search and cannot find a 1970 charger Hood anywhere at this time, so I think it's going to take a Hands-On approach with the need to physically go to the older junk yards and look for one. I know they're out there, it's just a matter of locating one
I have never seen such a rust bucket Mopar back to life. It had to cost a fortune in man hours. But it looks like you did it. Unbelievable. Good job guys
Nothing less than brilliant the work, the people and the car.
Glad George allowed us all to watch as you guys fit panels back in place Nick!!!!!! Thing is really looking GREAT GEORGE.......You handle the body GEORGE, NICK will do the rest :)
Legend's all at once
This shows everybody the hard work it takes to fix a rust buck.I did a 67 mustang at a ford dealer back in 98, I though it was fun to remove every panel quarter's,fenders, etc and then the reassemble it was fun to me. It was 1 year to finish.
Great video. And Nick's right. It will be a 2022 Charger. It's going to be better than new. Enjoyed watching. Looking for some more.
Thanks Nick for this inside look at George's "art". He is so much fun to watch - I could hang around for hours. What a cool charger this will be at the end of this process.
Great work George and team. Certainly motoring along with repairs. From a basket case to a Black Beauty it'll be Charging the roads again 😎👊
A ton of effort to date but the craftsmanship and dedication to doing it right is highly apparent.
That is appreciated.
Nick,
Thank you for this - I Iove seeing this type of work. I think you chose the right body shop. I love watching and listening to George he is a true craftsman.
Paul (in MA)
Thank you!
Its really nice to see that they primed everything really nice inside and out. That will make this car last another 50 years without the rust it previously had. Very nice job!
This is an awesome restoration boys The Charger is in the best hands. It's amazing the skill and years of experience is involved putting a beautiful work of art car like that together. 👍 Thumbs up.
Wow, this is such a neat video! George the body man is really an artisan! And George the camerman is too ;-) Thanks for showing us this not too often seen level of surgery on a car!
It's a SKELTON! It's a SKELTON!
First time I've ever seen a car body put together like a scale model. The CGA team make it look so easy. The years of experience are obvious. Hats off to all of 'em.
Cheese-related name for the Charger...hmm... Well, it's gonna be black and I see there's a cheese called Chèvre noir...the Chèvre Charger?
Nah, that name looks too much like 'Chevy'...oh well, I'm sure somebody will find a good one.
It was cheese related when it resembled Swiss cheese. They're no longer asking for a cheese name so I've suggested "Patchwork Charger" because it's being stitched together like a quilt
putting that car back together is like making ,shaping, and constructing your own jigsaw puzzle. every piece has to fit perfectly. its like the opening lines to the six million dollar man, and how he gets rebuilt, that's how the charger is getting rebuilt. a bionic charger
Very nice work... proof that most of the work in quality welding is in the preparation of the workpiece
Hello Nick, I would name her The Phoenix. She's starting to look like a car again. Signed, John ( Dr. Olds) Gregory, from Munster Indiana. U.S.A.
Gonna be a gorgeous car!
Nick , George , and Team. This car will be done like no other car has been done , these Guys Have HEART , not like most of the hacks out there IMO
There is a lot of stuff that I think I have the courage to try, but this body work is next level! Thank you so much for showing us how this comes together
Morning Nick & George, Stephane should be real pleased with the way George and his team are turning the Charger back to a near new car once again as its coming along nicely Nick. George and his team sure know there stuff too by the look of things. Thanks for the update. Stay well all till next time.
This car will out last all of us!
Wow that is a lot of work but it looking amazing . the AMD charger .
Thanks Nick.
Wow! I'm looking forward to the rest of this build. It's amazing that so many replacement panels are available.
So many hack mechanics and "restoration" guys out there but it's safe to say that Nick and George are at the top of their game.
Premium craftsmanship in play here and I'm sure you gentlemen charge a premium for your craft, as you very well should.
Good ain't cheap and cheap ain't good.
Will this be a stock restoration or will the drive train be updated?
A Hellcat, perhaps?
The Body restoration process at George's is a special treat. So much knowledge and skills. Great to watch. Thank you!
That's a whole other level restoring that R/T versus the Charger 500 that was done. Thumbs up to those craftsman..👍
George you are doing amazing job rebuilding charger an think you nick an George for show us how it's coming along gonna be amazing car once it's all back together an done awesome video like always gotta love nicks garage best UA-cam channel out there I say
Fascinating to see how the Charger is taking shape with all the new panels.
Greek muscle Μπράβο Μάστορα!! Greetings from Melbourne Australia!!
Nick this car going from Swiss cheese to a mighty mouse. Thanks for taking us along in the process.
You bet!
From West Haven, CT. Hello to everyone. Be and stay safe. In honor of the little students and teachers that lost their lives in Ulva Texas . Name that car, " Ulva Back beauty " .:)
Man this is great! To see this car taking shape. And George is as passionate about his work as Nick! Keep up the great work boys!
