- In this video I go over most of the installation of the inner structure of the B body platform more focused on the 1968, 1969, and 1970 Dodge Charger. I go over how to install the shackle frame extensions, the rear cross member, full one piece trunk floor, both the inner and outer wheel houses on both sides. I finish up the video by installing the trunk extensions and go over some welding and cleanup on all the body components.

It's cool that the algorithm recommended your channel. It's even more cool because I worked with you a few years back and recognized your face instantly! Hope you are doing well! -Jesse
That's awesome very small world thanks for checking it out and yes things are good. Same to you Jesse hope all is well.
You do Awesome work great Video 👍
And Happy Mother day to the better half
Thank you and much appreciated
Great video. I really enjoy seeing these old cars brought back to their fully glory.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching
Man. Just watching your video's give's average "Joe" guy with minimal experience hope and ambition to work on their cars. This charger was a big project also that is really coming along > Great Job
Thanks, and that is he idea on these videos if someone is ambitious really minus the pro spot welder and that even is just a luxury to speed up the process. With some searching and building a good JIG everything I have done could be done by the average "Joe" with some patience who can weld effectively on these rust bucket basket case cars.
Rick, it's just incredible how you make it seem so easy to do. Very impressive and the ease if explanation of all the steps you take to get to the next step is great! Keep them coming and can't wait to see the finished product.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!
Fitting like a glove Chris!
Thanks yes it does
I love your videos! My only complaint is that you make it look easy. Unfortunately I’m not building anything. if I was your channel would be the first tool I would get!
Thanks a lot
Thanks for another great informative video. I appreciate you taking the time To put these videos out.
You are welcome and thanks for watching!
Really nice work Rick.
Thank you
Rick these videos are great you've really dialed them in. Fantastic work love watching these master classes
Thanks a lot Max, you know how it is always trying to push to make them better each time.
Boom. Great work! I need a 68,69 charger some day.
I am right there with you top of my list of coolest cars in my mind!
Another great video, Rick! It's impressive the ease with which you describe how, and what, to do in these situations. I'm almost tempted to give it a try myself.
Thanks Karl! You should go for it. If you get stuck I know a guy not too far away that can help you get it right....haha let me know when the next car show is, take care buddy!
I just love watching your channel, your work is top notch and very informative, thanks again
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
excellent work.
thank you
Another great video and looking forward to seeing the quarters go on, do you think a 73 charger is worth this kind of investment?
Thank you. So..... I don't think any of these cars are worth the investment unless you have some connection and love that style car. Most of the builds the people have more in them then a brand new car with all the bells and whistles. I do get why people invest in them and I say build what you want because most of the stuff even high end for sale has their issues. I have a 69 firebird and a 73 mach 1 and I will put way more time and labor then both those cars are worth, but I have a connection to them. I do think the 73 Charger generation is going up in value but not sure it will meet the 68-70 prices unless popular culture or movies starts using more of them.
@@carthageclassiccars thanks for the reply
Great videos 👍
Thank you!
Awesome stuff 👍👍
Thanks
Do you create your own reference material for future builds? I can see how writing things down that you learn on each project could be beneficial for the next project even if it is the same make and model of car.
That is a very good questions and to a certain extent I do. Most of my stuff has been e-body cars so I have full frame JIGs and diagrams dedicated to those cars. With this car I will make marks on this JIG sliced into the metal and keep the rear/front mounts so if another one comes in these brackets are already done. AIf i start doing a lot more Chargers then I will take that to the next level.
Welcome back. What happened with the Instagram?😢
I don't know honestly, I guess Instagram though I was stealing an account even when I verified it was the business. They basically shut me down for some reason, you can't call anyone to sort it our so for now Facebook is it. I will try again in the future thanks for the support and I wish the Instagram worked out better .
Did you do something different with the charger coating the panels with VHT E coat? Don’t you normally remove the Ecoat where you weld, spray the weldable primer, cover the weldable primer and spray the panel with VHT epoxy primer? I noticed you didn’t remove the Ecoat from the trunk pan and extensions? I wasn’t sure if you adapted to another process. Very impressive work. The charger didn’t look like a special R/T model to receive so much attention. At least I didn’t see a spot for the emblem on the tail panel.
I don't know the whole story behind the charger except its a 69 charger and no matter the model they are desirable. With the E coat unless anyone specifically wants to pay for it I will only scuff the e coat and epoxy on inner structure panels. Its a lot of extra work to remove it all for areas that will not be exposed to the elements or no one will see. Saying that I know a lot of these cars especially the Mopars will be going body color so the painter will a lot of times take care of the painting and like this one I will leave the factory panel e coat on the car. It all depends on owners expectations and what fits most in line with the budget and next step where they are taking it.
@@carthageclassiccars They are getting rare thanks to Dukes of Hazard. If it was your car would you scuff the e coat and paint? Remove the e coat entirely and epoxy prime then paint? Scuff the e coat and epoxy? What's the best way to work with this e coat for best protection? I have watched some that take the e coat right off and epoxy as standard procedure.
I did send an email by the way....Thanks for the response. I am watching a couple more tonight. It's a good binge...
How much does a restoration cost on that model?
I do not put my prices out on the internet. If you have a Charger or other car your looking to get work done send me an email to carthageclassiccars@gmail.com and we can discuss, thanks.
