The Valve Cover Gasket may be similar with:

+ Piotr Konopka - There are two kinds of ratchets that I used in this DIY, first is a small 360 swivel ratchet (Performax 1/4 drive indexable ratchet) and the second one is a torque wrench (small-- the units are in inch-pound from Harbor *reight..:)

Kumusta Pare, I just recently changed the valve cover gaskets which reduced the oil leaks, but I noticed it is also leaking at the cam thrust plate area as well. Do you know how to replace those o-rings? There appear to be some coolant pipes blocking access. Salamat!

+Blake Onyx - Sorry pre, I have not done that yet on my Mitsu but as I know, the procedure is very similar to other Mitsus like the eclipse and the lancer. UA-camrs like AfzaMoto showed his work very well on a lancer. SCPO USNAY did it on an eclipse. The working space is very tight indeed but it is doable. If you decide to DIY on your Endeavor, be very careful when working on the right camshaft pulley (the one near the firewall). It is under spring tension and it may jump and turn on either way and may injure your fingers. Before you remove the camshaft pulley bolt, be sure it is on top dead center and marks on the pulley and timing belt are made. Watch my timing belt video on how to recover from a camshaft that jumped just in case complications arise. Hope this helps.

@@nunkirider8738 Thanks for the advice! However, I think we're thinking of the opposite ends of the cam. The cam o-ring I am referring to is for a cover plate and it's on the driver's side (near intake), not the pulley side. It is a known leaking spot on Montero's as well as other mitsubishi v6's.

+Demetrius Harris - If a dreaded smoke screen belched out of the muffler on startup after you have changed the spark plugs, this may be secondary to an engine oil that leaked into the 'spark plug well' due to a leaking 'spark plug tube seal' and when you removed the spark plugs, the engine oil drained into the combustion chamber. When you started the engine after the repair, the engine oil was burned and this can result into a dreaded smoke screen bellowing out the muffler exhaust that will freak out your neighbors and call the fire department. By now, hopefully all the engine oil in the combustion chamber are already burned out and there is no more smoke... If it is still there, recheck the integrity of your 'spark plug tube seals' and/or ask a professional ... :)

The smoke is gone the car sounds great on start up the only problem is that it doesn't wanna stay on the front engine always makes a popping noise every other try I'm taking the battery to AutoZone to get it checked cause I left it on the concrete floor over night

+Demetrius Harris - Recheck all your electrical contacts. Try to apply 'Dielectric connector Grease' on the spark plug - ignition coil connections so you will have a good electrical contact and may solve your problem... :)
