Dudes interaction with the limo driver is so funny to me. 2 guys who for all intents and purposes have never met before and he’s talking about his life and family as if they’re old friends
Back in 1998 I was in a theater with my girlfriend to see a film whose title I don’t remember. In any case they were showing previews and they previewed The Big Lebowski. When they showed the scene where the Dude was being dragged into the limo with the White Russian and says “Careful mane there’s a beverage here!” I lost it nearly fell out of my seat. It reminded me of my friend Spoochie who had a similar experience. I said to my girlfriend we gotta see that! She said are you serious Jeff Bridges in a role like that I don’t think so! I then reminded her that the year before when The Godfather was in theaters for its 25 anniversary I took her to see it. Born in 1973 she had never seen that film before and loved it. I watch this movie for a lot of reasons but just the first 5 minutes with the tumbleweed song then the perfectly placed Dylan classic set to bowling is the greatest mood setter ever in film.
6:48 there are more classic scenes but this one made me laugh the most on first viewing: The Dude has had a very rough few days. He finally gets to relax in his car, listening to music, enjoying a beer and lighting a spliff and of course... it had to get all fucked up when he drops the spliff in his pants and crashes.
