IE matching.. Is it just a gain switch, or do they use the algorithm on the dac chip that matches the impedence vs power demand curve, to power output? Well it works something like that.. I have it on my dongle, no gain switch, but it matches on its own. One question, why are you comparing it to such a wimpy dongle? It's, I don't know, a 30 or 40 dollar dongle? Should at least compare it to a balanced one, with 400 or 500mw output, to be fair?
i believe it’s alters impedance and makes it higher, which in turn reduces the power output. people have measured the change. I only compared it with what i have at the time, i don’t swim in gear xD. admittedly i do have more stuff NOW but back than this is all i had
@@arashfarjami7097 not sure what a doc3 is but sennheiser momentum 4 is a wireless headphone you don’t need any of them. Only thing is if you needed to transmit higher quality bluetooth codec you would need a bluetooth transmitter
how well does it drive the mr? i wonder cuz ive been told to get the questyle m15 and with the diana v2 its awful. not enough power and sounds underwhelming.
i never tried the cobalt before but there kind of different, the hip dac 3 has built in battery, balanced 4.4 port, ie match, bass boost, and modern usb c port that cobalt doesn’t have
Hi, do you think that this worth 100€ extra against the mk2? I ve found this last used for about 100€ and sometimes i need a bit more power for the sennheiser hd600 that the shanling up4 22 can't offer
Ya it is, or go for the new Q3 with mqa, if you use it, nice akm dacs, smaller size.. More ergonomic, strap to your phone, but the sound of the Burr brown dacs in this machine are also something special.
How can it drive HE6 if even people with 2-3 Watts amps on 32 ohm claim it is not enough? For sure you won't be able to EQ. I'm barely able to do it with my Fiio K11 (650mW) with my DT880 600 ohm...
depends on how loud you listen and your source volume. For example I noticed that apple music sounds much louder than compared to spotify/youtube out of my phone. What people "claim" doesnt really matter, you can calculate how much you need using a headphone calculator. I have also tested this and listened to it in person....if you listen to people on headfi you will need a speaker amplifier to run the he6, followed by "why did my driver blow out?" :] headphones.com/pages/headphones-power-calculator
@@ryanhostudio sure, I didn't want to result skeptical in a bad way. It was just your claim that was in big contrast with what is commonly shared about this headphone.
personally i think what people are looking for he-6 is a dynamic bass, but they also have to realize, it’s still flat bass. So they upgrade/search for better amps that can give it more dynamic impact they are looking for, or ultimately find amps that sound darker and turn up volume louder to compensate
if they only added Bluetooth to this dac amp then it would be a must have best on the market but against BTR7 and now BTR15 it really doesn't make much sense if you want to use it with IEMs

there is, but thats where they solved that issue with extremely sensitive iem by adding IE match so you will be way beyond the channel imbalance while having great volume control. I tested the kiwi ears quartet on it and didnt even need to use IE match to get past it

it does drive the mr. but desktop dac/amps will sound bettee

if you dont need any of the additional features the mk2 is fine
Does this provide more power than the previous hip dac?
no i think its exactly the same output
Hi, is worth it upgrade since hip dac 2 for over ear? Thanks for the review
if you already own hip dac 2 probably not
Thanks so much
I’m using Fiio Q1 mark II . Is it a good upgrade to hip DAC 3? ( I mostly use with my iPhone)

I'm about to make a tough decision. hipdac 3 or cayin ru7?
i haven’t tried the cayin b4
Cayin Ru7 is more clinical sonding, Hip Dac is more musical. Depends on your preference and gear

Use a 2 foot usb cable and keep the dac in a back pocket. I do it sometimes with a different dongle dac.
