Man, this takes me back to Freshman year of high school watching this video every morning on MTV. We had a lot of great music in the 2000's, I wish more people recognized that!
As a Gen Xer, I was actually exposed to this song from it being on the loading screen for Madden '06 so got to hear it every time I played videogame football against my son... turned me into a fan!
@@willyburtz7299 I'm only 31yo lmao, I'll be 32yo on February 9th. Not sure how old you are, but I'm just gonna say that each year passes by faster and faster once you turn 18yo so enjoy it while it lasts lol.
Bat Country! Lead singer is M. Shadows Watch the making of this song (or the breakdown I believe it’s called-it’s on UA-cam)They all worked together on writing this.
Avenged started out as a metalcore band but when Matt changed his vocal style & stopped screaming so much, is really when their big mainstream success came. Starting with this song.
This is the best mix between their metalcore era and their more groove oriented stuff in the self titled album. Bat Country is always gonna be my favorite song from them. Just perfection from them. But all their stuff has been great over the years. But this is when they were at the top when TRL was playing their stuff constantly. Crazy to see them so popular doing almost prog metal songs or close to it on MTV.
“We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.” -Raoul Duke(Johnny Depp) I love Fear and Loathing!!!🤌🏼🔥 Not a bad song either. Awesome reaction again🤘🏼
Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater (He was one of Jimmy’s ‘The Rev’ favorite drummers) came on and toured with the band in 2011. Lead singer is Matt ‘M Shadows’ Sanders, they all have stage names except Brooks (the current drummer). I’d love your take on *Buried Alive* And *Carry On* from Call of Duty soundtrack. Oh hell, the entire discography is awesome 💕
I think they all enjoy well written melodic pop music. I know both the Rev and Synyster Gates have talked about how they were listening to a lot of Lil Jon beats and hip-hop around when the self-titled album was written and that's how Brompton Cocktail came about and why there is prominent sub bass on Almost Easy and Scream. All the good big metal artists don't confine themselves to listening to just similar sounding music. Good music is good music.
Shout out to Smokey for the snare drum shout out! The drums and the dueling guitars really stood out for me when I first heard this song. Thanks for the reaction to this classic song. I would love to hear a reaction to a song from their Waking the Fallen album. Or here's one that I think you'll dig: AFI - "The Leaving Song pt 2" 🤘
God bless these motherfuckers and this goddamned song that put them on the map in the 2000s. Catchy enough to strip to and a throwback to the classic metal of the 80's, qnd the whole thing a nostalgic homage to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This song still fucking slaps.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio. Rock music had been stagnant for a couple years so this was a pleasant surprise. A few weeks later I was grocery shopping at Meijer and the City of Evil cd was wedged between two heads of lettuce. You know I threw that shit in my cart.
City of evil was the apex of a7x and as good as their newer albums they just lack the ascetic and dark atmosphere, continuity and raw power from that album. Legendary.
The quote is a refernece to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the video specifically starts out with a reference to the Johnny Depp movie where they're driving in the desert in that car.
R.I.P. Rev. You guys need to give that song another listen. Pay closer attention to the drums. Better yet. Watch a drum cover of this song. Jimmy wasn't much of a fan of empty notes.
They've had 4 drummers. The Rev (obviously) When the Rev died they were in the process of recording the Nightmare album and they asked the Rev's favorite drummer (and mine) Mike Portnoy to fill in for the recording and tour. The Drama of Mike Portnoy leaving Dream Theater at this time led fans to lash out against A7X and they decided to find a new drummer so they wouldn't be "Avenged Sevenfold featuring Mike Portnoy" in everyone's eyes. Aron Illejay was a fan of their's and was brought into the band and played drums on Hail to the King. Things didn't work out ultimately with him so they hired Brooks Wackerman who has been there since. Also this was off their breakout album "City of Evil" but the 2 albums prior were more metalcore. The first album contained basically no clean vocals. The second album was a mix of singing and screaming. Then this album was all cleans.
Honestly I hate when people do the music video for earlier Avenged because its always a cut version of the song lol, and they always cut out some of the best parts. Not your fault though, blame the radios.
Instead of doing the same stuff why not do Trivium No way back or Infectious Grooves Monster Skank or Anthrax State of Utopia or Cannibal Corpse The Bleeding I'm giving you the cheat codes right now.. The Black Dahlia Murder - Raped In hatred by Vines of thornes, Type O Negative- We hate everyone ... I could go all day.. you could do Guns and Roses Coma, Faith No More - The morning after.. all bangers..
A7X fans hang out in large groups on the internet just like Tool fans. Its the only reason Sullivan won your contest. You put the competition in the hands of drummers and it'll end up between Neil Peart, Mario Duplantier or Danny Carey, maybe even John Bonham. Sullivan was good but he never did anything above and beyond skill wise to grab the GOAT moniker. Maybe if he had longer to experiment he could've but nah, that's all a from the feels of the fans and A7X.
This is a cut version for the music video. I love the outro in the full version. If you liked the song you should go and listen to the full thing:)
Especially any of their songs from the Live at the LBC video
Man, this takes me back to Freshman year of high school watching this video every morning on MTV. We had a lot of great music in the 2000's, I wish more people recognized that!
Trivium's Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr is one I think about a lot
As a Gen Xer, I was actually exposed to this song from it being on the loading screen for Madden '06 so got to hear it every time I played videogame football against my son... turned me into a fan!
Dang you old!!!
@willyburtz7299 "It'll happen to you too!"
Shadows
Watch the making of this song (or the breakdown I believe it’s called-it’s on UA-cam)They all worked together on writing this.
Specifically referencing Hunter S. Thompson's "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" - the quote at the start is in that book!
This one brings back memories, my first A7X song. For something more "rich" you can check their song
"Save me" hands down one of their brightest
They already reacted to save me

Agreed! Easily my least fav album is Sounding the Seventh Trumpet
Smokey hit it right on the head with the fear and loathing thing
“We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... I love Fear and Loathing!!!🤌🏼🔥 Not a bad song either. Awesome reaction again🤘🏼
I love that you quoted all that. That is one helluva quote. 😂
Most relatable intro clip ever
Yall are the nicest guys on UA-cam! So kind ❤
Have a blessed day , keep grinding
Thanks so much that means a lot. 🙏🙏🙏

"Tell me you brought the F$*KING golf shoes!" Lol funny I mention hunter s tompson the other day. That's my absolute favorite Johnny Depp movie.
They're so musical. Somebody in this band loves melodic pop music, and that's wonderful.
I think they all enjoy well written melodic pop music. “Trashed and scattered” is their best song on this album!
I’d say the wicked end or sidewinder but trashed and scattered is awesome
My favorite video from Avenged Sevenfold. Next to Beast and Harlot. 7:27 Is that Hollywoods Daddy?! 😂
My favorite avenged video is definitely nightmare
Guys, new sub here! Try anything from Avenged Sevenfold's live in the LBC. Every song is fucking great on this concert! Keep the A7X reactions coming
Now you gotta do beast and the Harlot by avenged
One of my favorite bands ❤️❤️❤️
God bless these motherfuckers and this goddamned song that put them on the map in the 2000s. Catchy enough to strip to and a throwback to the classic metal of the 80's, qnd the whole thing a nostalgic homage to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This song still fucking slaps.

Do "Dear God" by them. You'll appreciate that one.
City of evil was the apex of a7x and as good as their newer albums they just lack the ascetic and dark atmosphere, continuity and raw power from that album. Legendary.
The song that made me an Avenged Sevenfold fan!
Back in 2006!
The quote is a refernece to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the video specifically starts out with a reference to the Johnny Depp movie where they're driving in the desert in that car.
OMG this brings back soooo much memories !!!!!
The song is pretty much a fear and loathing tribute. And that's awesome!!
the lilmaz clip at the beginning 😭 i love her sm
The song that beat out the likes of Rihanna AND Chris Brown AND many more for Best New Artist 😮💨 The rest was history
Buried alive is another a7x masterpiece
So fun fact, there is a Japanese rock/metal band called Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas.
"We can't stop here! This is bat country!"
Ahh, yes "Bat Low", My favorite Avenged Sevenfold song xD
Its quite the coincidence that as I sit here listening to this my girl is blown out on 2 hits.. love my girl
Matt aka M Shadows is the lead singer. The band writes their own lyrics!!!
Save Me by A7X. A Must.
Fear and loathing is an amazing movie..its definitely about taking a trip
IMHO, on the newest album, Brooks Wackerman finally became the first drummer to play in the exact style of The Rev! ❤❤
❤Based on the cult classic movie with Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro.
Fear and loathing in LasVagas. ❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
1,000% pure rockin energy
R.I.P. Rev. You guys need to give that song another listen. Pay closer attention to the drums. Better yet. Watch a drum cover of this song. Jimmy wasn't much of a fan of empty notes.
Avenged Sevenfold:
* Critical Acclaim
* Gunslinger

Good news! They already did: ua-cam.com/video/2KSrSuOA4tc/v-deo.htmlsi=dNZpI3eIIOfkSd-g

I would never in a million years argue that this is the best band of all time...
It IS, however, my absolute favourite band of all time 😅❤
But no one mentioned Neil Smith drummer for original Alice Cooper as an excellent drummer

The Black Dahlia Murder - Raped In hatred by Vines of thornes, Type O Negative- We hate everyone ... A7X fans hang out in large groups on the internet just like Tool fans. Its the only reason Sullivan won your contest.
