*Brooks Wackerman. Who is also a hell of a drummer with an illustrious career in punk & metal music. Maybe not as recognized but its kinda like Jay Weinberg following Joey Jordison.
@@mediumvillainthat comparison seems to be spot on. They don't write songs like their predecessors did, so they are not as present in the band (also, the stigma of "the new guy" lingers over every new band member, anyway). But their drumming skills, oh boy, are they good.
I have no idea how people didn't like this song when it came out... it's so good! the lyrics, singing, guitars, drumming, it's all top-notch!

honestly, when it first came out i also didn't have any interest into the song but after i'm at their show in jakarta on may 24th 2024, i started liking this song. everything just perfect.

This drummer is Brooks Wackerman, a legend and their "new" permanent drummer. This whole album is fire.The video was the bain child of rhythm guitarist Zacky V.

A7x has really grown on me thanks to you two. I always disregarded them as a basic Hot Topic band. All aesthetics, barely any talent/wasted talent. But watching them on your channel and discovering their songs that weren't overplayed everywhere has me thinking I was wrong. I'm grown enough to admit it. Awesome reaction guys🤘🏼🤌🏼
a7x doesnt have a singular bad song when you really take a second to deep dive them.
@@Patcherr77 so far I haven't found one I flat out don't like. It's just there are a few that are overplayed and I got tired of those songs so never really looked into the rest.
Yeahhh, they kinda werent my thing when I was getting deep into metal and they were still a fairly new band, I think there was a little too much fan crossover with stuff that I really did not like. I never really thought they were bad though, just not what I wanted to listen to. I've come around on a lot of groups like that.

I feel like newer A7X is so much better than people give it credit for. This album the Stage, and their newest album Life is but a Dream - fucking incredible. I know you got systems in place for what songs come next and all… but I hope you get to their New New stuff soon. Keep up the good work!

Hell yeah!!! The Stage is a very progressive album, I think you guys would really dig "Higher" off of this same album. Or I'd recommend "Exist" if you want to go on a 15 minute journey of awesomeness, pick any A7X song and you're guaranteed to strike gold! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I will second these recommendations. I've never been able to get into A7X... except for this album, and The Stage, along with Exist and Higher, are the highlights. Exist IMO is one of the best songs from the past 20 years.

You guys are one of my favorite react channels. I love seeing people genuinely get into, and smile about the music, especially music that makes me have the same reactions. You don't act holier than thou, or music "elitists" just down to earth dudes having fun. Keep it up guys.
Matt 'M. Shadows' Sanders. The Rev passed in December 2009. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater stepped in for the Welcome To The Family tours. Then Arin Ilejay in 2011 to 2015 then Brooks Wackerman who is the drummer on The Stage album and currently.
The Stage album was one huge concept album, all the songs kinda connect...... this is from the Rolling Stones article *The Stage is an epic concept album about artificial intelligence, featuring the most aggressively bonkers music of the quintet’s career. An adventurous departure from the straight-ahead hard rock of Hail to the King, the album concludes with a 15-minute musical interpretation of the Big Bang, capped by a monologue from astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson* .
Brooks is the only one that doesn't have a stage name also.

@@Rocky-N-Angel I unfortunately did not get to see them when The Rev was with us, but I did see them with Mike in 2011 and Arin was the drummer when I saw them at the Mayhem Fest in 2014. They were in OKC not too long ago, but my concert buddy moved, however I will one day see them with Brooks.
@@AngB517 I got to see with Rev, Arin, and Brooks a few times. Brooks is a great drummer. He really broke down the Rev's parts and has done a great job, I truly believe he is the last drummer they will use unless Brooks decides to depart from them. I think you will agree with me about Brooks when you finally get to catch them, BTW where you from? Sorry you lost your concert buddy, hopefully you still go to shows as they are a release from everyday life and we get to have fun.
@@Rocky-N-Angel Western Oklahoma born and raised, I'm in the OKC area now. I love the stuff I've heard with Brooks, but I am familiar with his drumming because I listen/ed to Bad Religion. I hope he stays with A7x.
My husband is from STL, and his first ever concert was WTTF at the Zoo Amp in 2011 and it scared the hell out of him (well actually Bullet For My Valentine scared him) 🤣, so he doesn't like being at concerts and I can't go by myself due to anxiety. Having someone I trust helps me relax and fall into the music.
@@AngB517 I am from Cincinnati Ohio, I am 1 hour from two big festival spots Louder Than Life and Sonic Temple festivals. I guess I am lucky in that way. I also worked for a few venues in the area from 1996 to 2004 and was able to see a lot of shows that way as well. I hope you can get out to more shows soon. My significant other is the same as your Husband, she really does not like the hard rock scene at all. Although her first Rock show was KISS and she ended up seeing them 4 times with me, she loved the show aspect of KISS. I took her to see A7X and Volbeat a while back and she literally hated it. She said never again, LOL. Once again live music sets the soul free if not just for a few hours it does a person good. Hopefully you can get someone to enjoy a show with you at some point.
They have very introspective lyrics like in this new album where they make a reflection about existentialism. You should try "Nobody" or "Cosmic" from the new album to have an idea what I am talking about and "Mattel" as well to headbang a bit 😁

I remember I was like one of the only people actually jamming to this album when it came out. Instantly got hooked with The Stage
Always enjoyed a7x's mainstream stuff. But this song (and album) got me hooked.
I was seriously wearing that same sublime shirt the other day. I used to sing that song to her when it came out. And yes I am that old. Good times at tri-cities high school.

The Rev was just more creative crazy experimental, but Brooks can play anything and everything.
Brooks is better in my opinion, but the Rev's songwriting and creativity was in another level.

What I like most about you guys is your knowledge of genres. Indeed! It does capture the essense of Life Smokey. 👌🏼 This is a history lesson. This song is one of my favorites from them. Every time i hear the guitar solo i get goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. I guess a lot of people can relate to this feeling. Music is the one thing that brings people together, and not apart. ❤ If i could marry Music , I would. 😊

A7X is one of my all time favorites. They’ve become very deep and interesting since the stage album. Another song from The Stage album you’ll both love is called God Damn. Hope you guys get to the new album in its entirety. Life Is But A Dream.

Fuck yes, flat out one of their best songs ever and likely their best music video ever. The stage is a damn good prog metal record and adding brooks wackerman on drums was a ginormous W for A7X. this was like 7 years after the revs death, their first album with brooks wackerman on the drums and it’s glorious, brooks is an absolutely brilliant drummer and the band members have been fans of his since before they even became famous so it’s really cool he eventually became their drummer

Stage is 2016 jimmy passed in 2009. I only know the year because I went to army basic combat training that same year and had to do weapons qualification test with his death in the back of my mind which was killer but I passed, barely but I passed.

This is one of those songs where your totally lost on the meaning until you watch the video, or for me it was. I tried interpreting them myself and was way the hell off.
I thought it was about the stages of a human beings life and how we feel were always being watched and judged by society and how ee always want someone to tell us what we want to hear instead of the truth. I personally always tell people what i feel they need to hear, wife calls it a personality flaw from me supposedly lacking empathy for peoples feelings but im just a honest person.
