    I just took apart my very first lantern. Blue and silver 228D. 1950. It’s for parts because it was in terrible shape to begin with. It was free so said what the heck. Your video was and is spot on. When I got confused I backed it up. Thanks so much.

    Your video wa very informative i have two coleman lanterns from the 1950 my father used and 2 dual fuel your video shows a short fall in dual fuel design old packing was better. I hope with the next redesign the generator is in the air tube hot enoughto work hopefully cool enough to reduce carbon well done on your video

    mi amigo muchas gracias por compartir,,,,,,,quisiera preguntarte como estaria seguro que el daño de mi lampara coleman es el generador,,,,como estaria seguro que mi lampara no enciende y es el generador que falla gracias mi amigo,,,

      La falla más común del generador es la aguja pequeña en los descansos superiores. Si quita el generador, debería poder ver si está roto. La parte de la aguja es muy delgada como un cabello.

    hi there i have the powerhouse but when i pump it theres alot of resistance on the pump.. is that how it's supposed to be?

    • @RavenwoodAcres
      @RavenwoodAcres  7 років тому +1

      Sounds like you may have a partially clogged check valve. The check valve is located at the bottom of the pump cylinder.

      ¿Cuál es el problema con su generador? Yo recomendaría sólo reemplazarlo en situaciones de necesidad. Muestro la eliminación y la reinstalación de los generadores de Coleman es varios de mis videos.

    i cant pump it while covering the hole on the pump head... when i take my thumb off the hole it pumps normally... wont build up any pressure

      Sounds like a problem with the check valve which is located a the bottom on the pump tube.

    Great videos with excellent info! I've a question. A brand new Dual Fuel 285 won't light. You can hear and see pressure coming out of the mantle tubes, (lighter flame visibly moved by pressure), but no gas and tank is full. What do you think the issue is?

    • @RavenwoodAcres
      @RavenwoodAcres  7 років тому +1

      Hard to diagnose without being there but a good place to start would be the gas generator. It sounds like you have a clog somewhere in the system. I have one more theory but I will test it on one of my lanterns and get back to you.

      Thanks for the reply! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. if the generator was plugged no air would be flowing through the tubes and into the mantles yes? Again, there was enough air flow to push the flame, from the lighter, away from the mantle. plenty of forced air flowing, just seemed to be no fuel for combustion. Very odd as the air pressure has to flow from the tank, via the generator, into the manifold down the mantle tubes and finally into the mantle. How could there not be fuel flowing if there is air pressure? I can't make sense of it? And yes, there's fuel in the tank. lol.... I appreciate you looking into it. Has me baffled!

      Good point, if there is a loose fitting it may cause this but more than likely you will see fuel leaking from that area. Have you checked the needle at the end of the gas generator to see if it is bent or broken? I have read that this needle serves two purposes, one is to clean the fuel flow orifice and to provide a metering function.

      Just buy a 639C, you will like it, I run 3 of them on our farm, just learn to clean the generator. Ours are great.

    Hello I have the same issue to on my Coleman 285 - 700 where would i buy the (Schrader valve) is there a part # or do I look for a certain size ? Thanks for the video !!

    • @RavenwoodAcres
      @RavenwoodAcres  4 роки тому

      The only part number I can is for feed tube, part number: 288B5231 which includes the schrader valve. However, I can't find anyone who has one in stock. One of the site even claims the part has been discontinued. You can try you local Auto Part store, look for ACDelco 88894338 (it is used on a car fuel rail) or other fuel rated schrader valves. The ones used for tire stems are mostly not fuel rated and will probably eventually fail.

      One more thing, Auto Parts stores sell schrader valve kits for AC systems. These too may work, because AC systems have oil in them therefore, the valve sealing material should be okay. I am doing more research and I will publish a video soon.

    Hi, I have the single mental version, are they share the same parts?

    • @RavenwoodAcres
      @RavenwoodAcres  4 роки тому

      I am not sure. I did not think Coleman made a single mantle version of this lantern. I know they made some older versions of the single mantle dual fuels. I would check oldcolemanparts.com
