I love how he found the path back to the threshold but completely ignored it. To us, we knew that he was extremely close, but to him, it probably just felt like just another part of the backrooms. This led to a super frustrating part as a viewer but it totally made sense.
I wouldn't ignore it. If i was in the Backrooms, i'd investigate anything that isn't yellow walls with wet carpet, even if i didn't know the Backooms and how it works, because it'd be unusual, anything not-yellow walls and wet carpet sticks out (and this especially looks very human-made, and not something the Backrooms would ''spawn in'' like the living room in 3:16). I'd assume that any human who is actively thinking about this new, unknown and almost empty surrounding would do the same. So i don't know how it makes sense. Might just be me though! The video is good, but the fact that the person totally IGNORED what seems to be a sign of civillization, barely even taking a look at it, did only *decrease* the feeling of realism i got.
Thought exactly the same! With the random furniture and items here and there, it can be very deceiving and difficult to differentiate what is real/safe and what is part of the Backrooms.
that was actually good, I mean your camera movement and effects were mostly on par with the Kane Pixels, or at least the first part of his series. Great job. Only thing I will say is the writing/lines. One thing Kane has nailed that most people don't is the voice acting/writing. When a character is on their own, they usually don't talk (aside from found footage #2) and I think that's the most immersive part because people when their on their own in an unknown environment don't talk, they're concentrating, scared or confused and thinking. Your natural instinct is to be quiet. You might murmur a little when you are getting irritated or stressed but aside from that I can't imagine many people talking. The temptation is to have the character narrate what you want the audience to be curious about but that's where you have to trust your audience is paying attention. This is easily the best I've seen from someone else though. I don't know how long it must take to capture the camera shake and zooms. That's easily the most important thing to get right
I guess it depends on the person, but some people do tend to talk to themselves or sort of "think out loud" when they're alone, as well as when they're nervous. The camera probably adds to the feeling of having "someone to talk to," since I would assume that most of these people would assume they'd get out at some point and therefore provide some degree of commentary/narration to some imagined future audience.
