SSX 3 did not run in 60 fps, it ran at 30 and if I am not mistaken some frame dips in Metro City. Except for that, the seamless loading is really fucking cool for it's time. The ability to ride from the top of the mountain to the bottom is awesome.
Oh boy, yeah that ability to ride from top to bottom was the best, I had a competition between me and my friends where we would time how fast we could race it, start at the top and don't stop till you hit the end of metro city, man that's a good memory.
TheNekOz it was amazing.. we had an xbox at our school in our class and because i had the ps2 version of ssx tricky so i knew the controls and spme of the characters already (i usually played Kaori i believe ) and being the only girl in my class everyone else in my class was like imma beat you.. then i beat them over and over and they usually just would rage 😂 love it
@@Ozzianman Actually it was 60fps on the original xbox that did suffer from frame drops. the re-release on xbone is a solid 60fps you can find a comparison video somewhere on youtube
this game was really fun especially when you tried to get the outfits and boards for EVERY character. probably means EA won’t remaster this without a lot of microtransactions/loot boxes
I seriously love this game and played it to death on my GameCube, i still have the game and am damn proud of it. Back in the years my mother started to know the game from the main menu sound Welcome to SSX Tricky, after awhile she asked me “are you still playing that Tricky game?”. Also the basedrop from the intro turned to 11, years later I still love it. And the soundtrack never ever left my mind. Thanks for the great video, this game needs more love. And the closest we can get to good SSX now is the remaster download game of SSX3 on Xbox, it feels great to run the entire mountain in freeroam. But Tricky will always be the one above all!
Honestly I feel like the series would have a longer stay if they leaned into the wacky side that tricky introduced. more out there and creative levels would have let the series not only stand out but prevent things from getting stale.
In SSX 3 there is concept art of stages that didn't make it to the game and what you're talking about is exactly what was the game was going to have. I remember one taking place in some sort of theme park and this would've been so cool if they kept this idea. I really they flushed out big mountain more honestly.
I love ALL the SSX games. My mum was diagnosed with cancer, so a couple of months before she died my dad bought her a PlayStation 2 and some SSX games in 2012. I still play these games 7 years after her death. Sometimes I even go into her game file to see how far she went. I might not be a Fortnite lover or have an Xbox/PlayStation 4/Nintendo, but I prefer the SSX games, they're simple and fun!
3 was definitely the best. Smoother controls, better character customization, more to do, more tracks, free ride exploration. 3 was the last one that had the characters have personalities
I'm not sure which is more mind-blowing: having to be reminded of this game, despite how much I loved it.....or the fact that I never realized "its tricky to rock a rhyme thats right on time" is what the lyrics actually are.

This game was an essential part of my childhood, this and when SSX: On Tour became a thing. Yeah, PS2 and PS3 games WERE my childhood, and I’m sad games like it no longer exist.

Can we also talk about how much of a game-changer tricky was in terms of getting famous voice actors to work for video games? This really wasn’t a thing before SSX and in getting people like David Arquette and LUCY LIU to voice characters in a game as campy and crazy like this is part of what made it such an influential game.

Until SSX 3 came out on the GameCube I basically played SSX Tricky repeatedly on this demo disc for the ps2. I couldn’t have been older than 6 or 7, but those demos along with ATV Off-road Fury, Jak And Daxter, and Onimusha were the highlights of my childhood. Seeing that clip of ATV at the beginning brought me to another dimension. Thank you for that.
I love the fact that my mother passed down her ps2 to me, so many games that shaped my childhood, and I’m only 14, feels that those very games those that are older played, will be in a museum one day, where they will be remembered
Safe to say Tricky is probably my most favorite game of all time. It was the first game I ever played on my PS2 and I played it for many years afterward. It was a fantastic bonding tool with my family and we all loved it. One of the only games I ever got them to play with me lol. Such a great time in my life. I will forever cherish this gem.
Ssx tricky has a surprisingly robust speedrunning scene. I never played it but learned about it due to speedrun progression. 2 brothers were pretty much the Kings of the game.
