- After almost a year, I finally found a new property in California after moving across the country from Virginia. Now I can begin the work of turning the land into a new orchard.
Take a look at the new home of Pig & Fig Orchards in Newcastle, California! - Навчання та стиль
I am so excited for your new journey.
You and your family are the ONLY people I know who MOVED TO California! I've met so many people here in NC that came FROM NY, Cali, Illinois, Wisconsin that just had to get out and away from the "CRAZIES". That includes aunts and uncles and friends who used to love the state. My aunt sold here two bedroom nothing of a home in a crappy location for $1.2 Million in San Francisco. Bought a 4 bedroom mansion in Tennessee for $395,000 and is paying 1/3 the taxes with no restrictions on gas stoves, cars, and all the other crazy climate agenda mandated in Cali.
Hope you can survive the tax rates, and all the political bull crap that goes with your move. You've always had a great channel on figs, and I have learned a lot from them. Fill us in on your journey.
Best wishes, and still subscribed!
Best wishes 😊
That's a beautiful place ,congratulations and welcome back to the hobby!
That's a dream 🎉🎉🎉, welcome to Cali
Congratulations on the new place.......make sure you check the flood zone maps before you building anything adjacent to the Creek on your property. In a monster rain (6 to 10 inches) in 24 hour period; it could easily come over the bank; destroy your well pump and depending on location your Greenhouse as well. It is worth the time to check before you actually build something......Regards Tom
Congratulations Pete!! Your property looks awesome and you'll have great weather for growing fig trees. I have close friends in Auburn and they have greenhouses that they built. If you need any ideas or recommendations for supplies, let me know. I can get you connected with them.

Congrats! Good luck with everything.
A nice property. A lot of work to do. My experience thought me to do a little every year. Not all at once. Everyplace has its own challenges. I'm still making adjustments on my property. Third president said " in the garden I grow " Good luck with this endeavor.
Your new property sounds like a dream come true. Much success Pete, as you continue to make it all work!
Your channel is literally how I decided which fig varieties I wanted for my orchard. Nice field. Perfect for some in ground tree's.
All the best! Place looks great.
What a beautiful property! So much potential! This is awesome! Congratulations Pete!
Awesome place, hopefully fig wasp area
Welcome back!
Good to have you back in the Figology 😂 community/conversations. I spent over 30 years in the Sacramento area so I’m familiar with the Auburn and New Castle area, such beautiful country. Congratulations.
Best rooter. Teach us your green thumb 😂
Congratulations! looks like you're off to a good start. I love the idea of clearing the land with goats, I did that for many years in Oroville, and they did a great job. Keep us posted as you work your land into the orchard and business you are dreaming of!
Glad you posted this update video! That’s awesome you found a place! Keep the updates coming and best of luck!
I only have 21 varieties, but im willing to donate some cuttings to you.
Blackberries are very, very invasive and an enormous pain to get rid off.
Yeah I literally cut tunnels through them because they were so high
Hello from Ukraine! It will be nice if you shoot the whole process that you told about.
Great looking property Pete - congratulations on finding it! Your situation reminds me a lot of the movie/documentary The Biggest Little Farm. If you haven't seen it you MUST watch it to get inspired. Good luck with the well. Please do keep us posted with update videos!
Thanks! Yes I’ve seen that. A good video!
AE design eats up time. When you’ve learned what you needed to, check out client/owner side.
Do you have all 4 seasons there? Please keep updating us on your fig cuttings progress as well. I am new to figs so we will be growing a new batch of figs together. Don't quit yt though, I love your videos and think you could become one of the larger fig yt channels!
Yes, although it doesn’t get below freezing much in the winter, which is nice
You may do better with pigs to take care of the blackberries and other shrubs. The pigs will eat the roots too and goats will not. Thus the shrubs will grow back really fast.
I may bring the pigs in later-not sure. Thanks!
That's so awesome, I hope it works out. Another thing, do you have the wasp there?
Yes
Hopefully ur not get hit by the amount of crimes in california, ur very far from san franscico
California is a big place
