your video is great, Dyson has a promotion here in the US and its giving the Dok for only 50USD, which I think its good catch. I will need to move the Vaccum from place to place so I think it comes more handy to me

Excellent video and demonstration...helped make my choice for the V15...and Dyson threw in a free floor doc!!! The unboxing was simple but very effective...great camera skills!

Thanks this was handy. I bought the stand with the vacuum not realizing the one I bought came with a stand so I had to figure out how to put it back in the box to send it back. I never got the point of the unboxing videos but this time it was super useful. I would have taken me a while to figure out how the power cord goes too. The instructions for this vacuum are ridiculously sparse.

I bought one of these and had to send it back because I and several other people couldn’t get the connector into the socket. Dyson produced a very good dok for the V11 which held all the attachments. Don’t know why they couldn’t have done the same thing for the V15

Does the floor dok cmoe with an extra power supply, so that i can use both the wall mount and floor dok at the same time
Hi Billy, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, it doesn't (this can be seen in unboxing part within the video here: ua-cam.com/video/SgMrH4I9CFQ/v-deo.html ), instead you have to use the charger that came with your vacuum cleaner.
Very helpful video. I am having trouble connecting the plug onto the circle because the cord does not bend enough for me to clip it in. Can you give some advice please
Hello Frances, thank you for the kind words. I think you are referring to this part here: ua-cam.com/video/SgMrH4I9CFQ/v-deo.html . A couple of others have mentioned difficulty of bending the cable into the groove, so maybe Dyson have changed something with their cable design(?) , where the cable I use in this video comes from the Dyson V11. It is a little fiddly and does feel unnatural to bend the cable at a right angle, but for myself it went in. If you feel it isn't designed to bend like this have a chat with Dyson and let them know... it might be they changed the design or can send another/replacement charger.

This was a very nice video, except the plastic door for plug port was extremely hard to open, unfortunately your video didn't show how to open the plastic door to put the connector plug head in place as in the video it was already open. We had a hard time opening the door as we were afraid to force it open because we didn't want to break the plastic. Can you please show how to open the door? Ours was very tight so we had to get a small screwdriver to open it but we were afraid of damaging it. It is a very nice design & your video is very good instruction just need to show how to open the little plug port door. Thanks!
Hi Tamara, thanks for the comment 🙂. Someone else asked a similar question last year. I have only opened it a couple of times and recall it being tricky, at the time I believe I used the tip of a knife to (gently) pry it open (a small flat headed screw driver should work better) . If you click here 1:37 you will see there is a small notch in the catch which is where I put the knife to help open it. I hope this helps.

In the US. The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute just got back in stock. I ordered it and ordered the docking station for $50....

How do you open the latch to let the charger cable through, worried I might break it…..
Hello Wholeness, thanks for the comment. It has been a little while since I have opened it, but I do recall it being a little tricky to open where on two occasions I used the tip of a knife to (gently) pry it open. If you click here 1:37 you will see there is a small notch in the catch, it was here where I put the knife to help open it. I hope this helps.

How do you open the latch to feed the power chord thru ??
Hi Marcel, thanks for the comment! It's probably more awkward than it needs to be, but it might vary from Dok to Dok as the latch opened more easily on another Dok. With the latch in a closed position there should be a small notch at the front. If you have a small flat headed screwdriver (or similar that fits) insert it into this notch and gently/carefully pry it open. The catches that are holding the latch down are on each side of the latch, so if you manage to unclip one side then gently pry the other open. You can see these catches more easily if you view 1:30 of the video and at 1:34 you can see me manipulating the two catches back in to close it again.

Hi De Reiziger, it certainly is. One of the vacuum cleaners this dok is design for is any of the v11 models.

Hi Amardeep, thanks for the kind words, it's really appreciated!! Unfortunately, I don't have access to a Dyson v10 to test this out, so I wouldn't like to say for certain either way, but looking at the battery pack on the v10 it looks like *it might* . The battery pack on v11 is slightly wider, but this shouldn't matter as the Dyson v12 also has a smaller battery pack and fits the Dyson Floor Dok fine, as demonstrated here: ua-cam.com/video/NB4UpqawYCs/v-deo.html
If there is a return policy where you can try it that might be best, or perhaps just take the top part of your v10 into a store and try it. I hope this helps.

The only thing to note is the motorheads *from the v12 will not fit* this part here on the Dok: 3:20

What’s the difference between the gen5 dok and the multi dok
Hi Video Viewer. I haven't looked into the differences too closely but thoughts are they look very similar if not the same. Dok's are basic bits of kit allowing you to dok the vacuum and slot/connect in attachments. Generally speaking if the battery on the vacuum can fit into a dok's cradle then that vacuum cleaner can use it. Something I found out with the v12 which works on a dok designed for the v11 and v15.

Hey bluejays, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, I don’t own a V8 so I can’t try it.
However the V11, V15 and Dyson Outsize all slot onto the docking station via their battery. Looking at the V8 it looks as though the bin would be in the way, so I can’t say for certain but I’m doubtful it will fit.
Does anybody know if the floor dock is compatible with the Dyson V11? Thanks.
Hey Icees, thanks for the comment ! Yes it's specifically designed for the Dyson v11, v15 and Outsize vacuum cleaners. *It will ALSO fit the Dyson v12 as demonstrated in this two minute video here:* ua-cam.com/video/NB4UpqawYCs/v-deo.html
However, if any Dyson v12 owners are considering one for their v12 then its worth nothing the motorheads (from the v12) DO NOT fit the attachment socket built into the floor dock. i.e. THIS socket 3:20 but its really not a big problem as the v12's plastic attachment clip can attach to the Floor Dok's pole.

This was an absolute disaster for me. I got the "official" one from Dyson when I bought my V15 detect. Not sure why the charging portion of yours is different than mine. the way mine is set up requires the charging port to literally turn at 90 degrees in order to insert into the Dyson - great way to fray a cord. Thank God this was free for Black Friday. Never would I recommend one to anyone, I am looking at some competitors, but the "official" one I received looks exactly like yours. except it doesn't look like your cord has to make a 90 degree turn at the top. Love my vacuum, think the "doking" station is a joke

I'm not sure why it would be different, but I believe they are manufactured in different places and have different names on the box, although they are essentially the same. The cord on mine does turn at the top inside the dok close to the latch, but looking at the wire it isn't causing much of a problem. It sounds as though you got it from Dyson directly, if so perhaps have a chat with them and see if they can send another in the hope it is different(?). Alternatively, maybe ask if they can send you their newer Floor Dok Multi www.dyson.co.uk/support/journey/tools/972214-03 , but it may be the same setup though.
Omg! Same here! I got mine for free. I just tried setting it up but the charging head just won’t fit into that small space. How did you end up doing it ? Did you just kind of force it into that little angle?

It should fit, the hard plastic on the cable sits in the groove, and the flexible part of the cable is bent (somewhat tightly) at 90 degrees where it then runs down the pole.
They offered us a dok for 75 if we buy the v12. I bought the 12 but not spending 75 for a dok. Dyson needs to do better, to much money for the dock.

It may depend on where you are in the world, but Dyson have offered a free dok with a Dyson cordless vacuum purchase, so it might be worth calling back and enquiring if this is still the case as not all Dyson customer service representatives are equal in their knowledge.
I only got the floor stand because Dyson bundled it with my V15 for $50 and I got a massive discount on top of that. It worked out for me because the room I have to store it in has no place for me to mount on the wall.
The stand at full price kinda seems like a rip off since it doesn't come with a charging cable or attachments to store the accessories (There is enough room on it to store everything that comes with the "Absolute" model).

Broadly speaking it depends if you have a large area to clean as the bin needs emptying more often on the v12. If you have a large home get the v15, otherwise the v12 is ideal.

I agree about the cost of the stand being a lot of money for what it is, and I got one for similar reasons… where it made more sense keeping it stored outside the cupboard

Hi hyethere, a charger doesn't come with the floor dok (take a look at the unboxing part within the video here: ua-cam.com/video/SgMrH4I9CFQ/v-deo.html ), instead you have to use the charger that came with your vacuum cleaner.

Looks like cheap plastic that is very wobbly. I'm sure it can be easlily knocked over.
Hey Sandra, thanks for the comment :) , well it's certainly expensive for what it is. Although it isn't too bad in terms of sturdiness, but it's probably best to position the Dok where its unlikely to be knocked into regularly.
