I really like the conservatory addition, seems like a nice space to give your cabin buddy some privacy and have some space to yourself if you need it! (Because as much as I love going on trips with friends/family, eventually you need a break from one another). I'd prefer one without the promenade deck being right there, though
In Germany a conservatory is called "Wintergarten", and this translates exactly to what you think it means, because you can sit in your garden during winter. German is a very effektiv language, where words often just driscribe what they mean 😂
Thanks for the reminder that public hot tubs are people soup 🤢 Is the sofa in the conservatory big enough to sleep on? You'd have more privacy out there, at least.
Went on a Canary Island cruise January 2022. We had a conservatory mini-suite. Cabin no 9616 (if memory hasn't failed me) above the food court. Given the smaller cabin size, I was really pleased we had the extra space to sit in although, It was not warm enough on our cruise to fully open up the doors. We didn't hear any disruptive noises from the cafe's outside seating area below unless we stood out on the balcony. Deck 9 overlooks the promenade, and having walked the promenade, I do not think there is a direct view into these cabins, so no real worry for cruisers' privacy.
This is a really weird tip, but for any shower that's slow to drain in the future, if it has the detachable shower head you can put it on whatever the highest pressure setting it and aim it into the drain area for 30-60 seconds while moving it side to side a bit and it may help keep the drain clear! My in law's drain does this and it worked well there with repeat treatments every 4-5 days.
You are right, a garden gate to the promenade would be perfect. I actually think that cabin looks like fun, like sitting on a front porch and seeing folks walk by.
Just doesn't feel like it would be very safe, even as it is, I'd feel uneasy about it because strangers could so easily just jump over the railing to get into the room 😵💫 Other than the safety concern though, I really like the room and could imagine staying like that even though I'm an introvert
That’s what I was thinking, it’d be like a “poolside” room in a hotel where you can walk out from your balcony to the public areas. At least you could go for a walk around outside without exiting into the inside hallway and then back out again. I’d be so tempted to try to catapult over the rail😂

The conservatory is great! Basically having a living room addition. Brilliant for friends and families to have that extra space. Initially I thought the balcony had direct access to the promenade and I thought that made complete sense. But no gate? I feel they’ve missed an opportunity that would sell the room here.
@@EmmaCruises I think they would also need to have a lock that opens with your key card for either the gate or the conservatory. You might also get some unexpected guests.
I remember a cabin type exactly like this on the Carnival Vista and the more recent carnival ships. They’re called the Havana Cabana Cabins on carnival, thank goodness for those blind shades on the balcony doors.
I just got back from staying in a Havana Cabana on a Carnival cruise. I loved the room and the patio! Emma, first time visiting your channel. I loved your coverage & info. I travel working for advertising photographers & shot on the silver seas cruise line in the Med for work. Researching to possibly take one on my own
I would like that cabin, but not if it was a lot more expensive. It looks like a good set up for 3 people. I agree, it would be nice if they had direct access to the promenade deck.
These aren’t dissimilar to the Havana balcony rooms on Carnival’s Vista class ships. My hubby wouldn’t like this but the actual cabin looks lovely. I’ve considered Iona a few times, especially for travelling to the port (we’re in Scotland) and it’s starting to look more likely thanks to your videos.
For safety reasons, the rails have to be high enough to prevent anyone from accidentally falling over. Now if he really tries and leans over the railing then yeah he could fall over
Wow that cabin is awesome :) love it :) it Would be much better, as you said if there was a little gate onto the prominade deck. But really cool cabin :)
A conservatory would be called un jardin d'hiver (winter garden) if there plants in it, and une véranda without any, in French. In Russian, likewise, zimniy sad (winter graden) with plants, and solariy (solarium) without. In America and Canada, they are called sunrooms or sun porches.
I would love to hear why you chose cruise lines, lets say over: flight/hotel, drive/hotel, motorcycle/hotel, flight/safari, backpacking/tent/hiking, etc.?
Just spent a fortnight on deck 10 on Arvia looking down on deck 9 conservatory balcony’s. They were small and totally overlooked, so no outdoor privacy at all 🤔 Ps loved the edit, was she being strangled 😂
Okay so now I’m really worried. Booked my first cruise on Iona in June but had no idea how to choose a cabin. Tried for ages but couldn’t work it out. In the end I just said fine, just give me a balcony cabin, how bad cab it be 🙈🙈🙈🙈. Well I paid the balance 2 days ago and got a code ‘GF’, did some google wizardry and think it’ll be deck 8 as no one actually chooses the promenade. Not going to lie my excitement has diminished. What a coincidence though that you posted this 😎
Ha ha, theres definite perks and drawbacks to this cabin like anyone. When are you going? If it's cold weather like my cruise you'll rarely see anybody out there anyway! Plus, if it's your first cruise you won't have anything to compare it to and it'll all just be exciting. ❤️ Have a great time! 🥳🥳
You could get deck 8 GFs but those balconies are across many decks so not necessarily. I know people who booked GF saver and ended up high up forward front allocated.. If you get deck 8, at least you're close to the Quays food court :)
My youngest son managed to flood the bathroom when we were on the Arvia as he spent so long in there! We had a promenade cabin and I loved it, I have a bit of vertigo and have the fear of one of the kids falling over, enjoyed saying hello to people as they passed, plus we could just jump over to return to our room when out on the loungers.

Ha ha, yes!! Exactly that!!! 😂😂😂
i would book a cabin like that one.
We were on Iona on the 11th-18th feb, some cabins got roses left outside rooms on valentines day, was a nice touch. Glad some roses got left for the next guests after we left❣
That's the same date I was onboard 😄❤️. Hope you enjoyed!
It was professor plum, in the whirl pool, with the candle stick...
On Iona now Emma fabulous ship, have already booked Arvia in January round Caribbean, love the vlogs keep up the great work 👍
Ooo yess!!! Arvia around the Caribbean sounds SO GOOD. I'd love to do that! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
As always, great video Emma.
Love the cabin layout, though think deck 9 would be preferable. The conservatory would be brilliant for me and hubby... I'm an early riser, and have sat reading in the bathroom before now while he has a lie-in 😄.
2:19 - In germany we usually call them „winter garden“ which is kinda weird because it implies it is only used in the winter.
BTW, Love your video!
Ooo I didn't know that. That's awesome. Thanks lots and lots!! :)
Hi Emma, lovely to see you have been on yet ANOTHER cruise! It’s your birthday twin. Well, not exactly, as I was born 13 years before you-just on the same day. I wanted to pick your brains about a once-in-a-lifetime cruise (and part land explore but mainly cruising the world), and I wondered if there is a chat feature on here? If so, please can you let me know? I also wondered if I could take a cruise with you, as you seem so much fun and if Paul and Carole and Gary Bembridge were there as well, even better. Later in the year. What do you think? I’ve never been on a cruise before and I want to have some fun. X
Hey Alex, UA-cam doesn't have a chat feature but if you would like some help booking a cruise please feel out our form here: emmacruises.com/book-a-cruise/ if you'd just like to chat to me feel free to join us on Patreon patreon.com/emmacruises. Alternatively have a look at my website, social accounts and channel for lots and lots of tips and advice. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Cabins look lovely inside.
Not too keen on the promenade right outside as you never know who is going past.
And the whirlpool noise would only make me more competitive than them 😆
Either that or sing super loud 😆
Awkward turtle made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! :)
Glad you enjoyed that! Glad myself laugh 😂😂😂
Emma, first time visiting your channel. I loved your coverage & info. I travel working for advertising photographers & shot on the silver seas cruise line in the Med for work. Researching to possibly take one on my own
Thanks so much. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Thanks for sharing Emma, interesting cabin!
I would like that cabin, but not if it was a lot more expensive. It looks like a good set up for 3 people. I agree, it would be nice if they had direct access to the promenade deck.
Yess. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I mean who doesn't love cookies thats just being human !🤣
These aren’t dissimilar to the Havana balcony rooms on Carnival’s Vista class ships. My hubby wouldn’t like this but the actual cabin looks lovely. I’ve considered Iona a few times, especially for travelling to the port (we’re in Scotland) and it’s starting to look more likely thanks to your videos.
This looks very tight to me. I don't cruise. It was fun to see how it is, so thanks for sharing. I know I wouldn't be comfortable.
I think I'd like this cabin. I would like a balcony but I'm afraid my husband, who falls a lot, would fall over. This seems safer.
For safety reasons, the rails have to be high enough to prevent anyone from accidentally falling over. Now if he really tries and leans over the railing then yeah he could fall over
A cabin kitty would be a perk I would definitely pay a premium for!😻
Same!! 😂
Wow that cabin is awesome :) love it :) it Would be much better, as you said if there was a little gate onto the prominade deck. But really cool cabin :)
We do typically call conservatories sun rooms in America. (Also you can run a coffee maker without coffee if you just want hot water for tea).
🥳🥳🥳
TMI: Hubs is usually in a state in undress in the room. A walk by balcony might be awkward for passersby but not for him, lol
Haha, they'd only make the mistake once!! 😂😂😂
Oooo, that's interesting. Thank you! 😁❤️
They were small and totally overlooked, so no outdoor privacy at all 🤔
Ps loved the edit, was she being strangled 😂
8:41. OH MY GOSH! Whaaa... I'm just speechless. Why would anyone do that out in the open where other people can see them? WHAT??
There are no words.
... you would make any cabin a great one ... as you find the natural joy in everything around you ...
I love that you included the audio from the hot tub 😂😂😂
I had to! 😂😂😂
I wouldn't mind staying in one on deck 10, where you're above the promenade deck.
Great video as always!
The conservatory is sorta like a sound buffer zone I’m sure. With a room between you and the promenade I got to think you wouldn’t hear
Yess, inside you can't hear a thing. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Pie? Walk by. Cake? I have no stake. Ice cream? Sometimes I dream. Cookies? I will stop EVERY TIME!
this cabin sounds like my worst nightmare, I am almost allergic to socializing.
