Those cabins are just like that river cruise you did where the upper half window slides down and turns your whole room into a balcony. I like that feature. But I hate mini bars! I'd rather just have an empty fridge that I could put my own things in.
Apparently these infinite veranda’s massively reduce the drag on the ship when it’s sailing, which along with the parabolic bow make it a lot more fuel efficient. Given that most cruise ships are terrible polluters, I think it’s a move in the right direction! We sailed on Edge last week and Captain Tasos gave a 90 presentation in the theatre about the ship’s design!
Not sure if you ever mentioned this before, but you can actually ask your cabin steward to remove all the liquor/snacks/water that cost extra. I usually always do that on Day 1 so I can use the extra fridge space.
Something funny for the lady, let's see... A nervous guest asked the captain, "Do ships like this sink often?" The captain replied, "Not at all. They only sink once." 😂 Wonderful video, excellent job as always!
I'd like to hear more about the person whose cruise was ruined by the library being too cold. I love books, but good grief, was that the only place to read on that ship?
I LOVE that room!!! Since I'm a solo cruiser, the only thing I would need is for the beds to be pushed together to create a King/Queen size. The balcony is from my dreams, so thank you for sharing it with us, Emma!! 🤗

We had a great time on the Edge on the last cruise before Covid. The infinite veranda was great and not once was our window overridden by the crew. The food, entertainment, room and the decor was really impressive. Eden was our evening go-to. From our room we would often see the captain and her cat on the bridge. Wonderful ship!
We were on the Edge for a transatlantic cruise in Oct 2022 and had a room with the Infinity balcony. LOVED the ship, especially loved Eden restaurant! The only negative for us was the Infinity balcony. It never felt like a balcony, just felt like the room had a big window. Also, the Captain locked the window one day when we were in port, so not only in bad weather. Didnt like not having control. Will do the Edge class again, but only with a regular balcony. Oh, and the bathroom was spectacukar!
My wife and I did back to backs on the Apex in February in an Infinity cabin. We never closed the blinds. I would prefer a regular balcony in the Caribbean but an Infinity in the Baltic and North Sea.
For me the heat thing would be a deal breaker. That's why I love a traditional balcony, because the door closes and the outside air stays outside. A cabin like this on a cold weather cruise, like Alaska or Norway? Now that I wouldn't mind. Great video, as always!
I can't wait to stay in this cabin. My mom and I will be on the Edge next June for an Alaska cruise. When I saw this cabin I just had to book it. I can imagine the fantastic views, and we can open the window to feel the chill in the air or close it and stay nice and cozy. I'm so excited!
Fantastic idea. Nice to sit outside without the noice, wind, cold and rain. Private solarium. That obstructing view bar when sitting down though. Sit on the floor. Also if the captain decides to lock the windows, you should still be able to roll it down an inch or two. If you don't remember to close the privacy screen at night with your room light on and dark outside, you become the only thing to look at. I think I would love this. Would still miss an actual balcony maybe.
I stayed in one of these a few months ago. Much better and more private than the old style. The beds are bigger, you get more storage, and you can close doors on the "balcony" so its a separate space. I also like they removed the useless permanent table. The hideaway one is sooo much better! Also, the views are far superior as you can see directly out to the sea. Makes it feel you are directly on the water.
New follower here and you are delightful! Very informative too. We're on EDGE next June and I never understood the complaints on the Infinite balcony. BUT with you clearly explaining the issue with the daylight, I get it now. No sneaking a look out without lighting the whole room. And, by the way, the darn cross bar is ALWAYS right at my eye level, even with the traditional balconies. Lol..
I don't like the items being in your room but there is an upcharge to consume them. I have asked my room attendant to remove them as space is so limited and he quickly removed them.
Everything you described about this infinite verandah cabin was "spot on"! We loved the Edge...the decor, the size, the food, Eden, the entertainment, etc., but I like having an "actual" balcony.
I cruised this ship in March of 2024 - I had a suite, my niece had an "edge Cabin" like in this video; I actually liked her Stateroom better. People don't really USE balconies on ships ... but when she had her doors open and the room extended outside, it was awesome!
3:00 I think the concern about the cards is (at least my personal concern) is that these envelopes usually come with more than 1 card for double beds. If someone takes one, they can enter your cabin at a later time when everyone is unpacked. It would be great if it was as noticable as a missing card, but what if the stanger places a dud card in the envelope, so you and your cabinmate might go to exchange it for a working one without realising that it was purposeful. This way, any suspicions might just be casted as technical errors.
I really think I would love this! I love that you could literally keep the window open while in bed. I always have the windows open at home, never close any blinds/curtains.
My husband and I came off our first cruise with an infinite verandah. We agreed that the negatives outweighed the positives of that room. We'll stick to the traditional balcony. Also "row" is American English as well.
I suppose Zoomed in works, but I think the word you were looking for was a magnifying mirror. Like the magnifying glass that often signifies the Zoom function in tech!
This room looks like it was a great compromise between an ocean view and a traditional balcony, and given the right price I think this would be a nice option if your budget could not go as far for a traditional balcony cabin. I can see where you would need to have a great understanding with your cabin mate or travel with someone on your same schedule otherwise this cabin wouldn't be worth it if you argued heavily over natural light. All-in-all the space looked bigger than some hotels I've stayed in so I'd give this cabin a go if it ever was an option.
My wife and I were on the Apex in February for back to backs. We never used the blinds. But enjoyed the sea view. Both balcony styles have their pros and cons. A lot where you are cruising. In the Caribbean I would prefer the regular balcony. In the Baltic and North Sea the Infinity.
We just went on our first cruise, we watched our channel a lot to be prepared. A few things we think would be worth you talking about, how to pick excursions, we really didn’t like ours and we are not sure if that was what we picked or all excursions. And remind people to get ports way ahead of time. But your stuff was super helpful so glad we watched.
i heard from another vloger that the veranda balcony window can be locked by the bridge. they said it happened a few times when they wanted to use it. do you know if it can be locked?
I know I'm quite a bit late to comment on the video, but I just wanted to say that I think the word that you're looking for when you were talking about the bathroom needing a "zoomed in mirror" for makeup is a "magnified" mirror. At least I think so, lol. Anyhow, I hope you had a great trip on this cruise. I sincerely appreciate you sharing all of the details and info about these "new" styled rooms. I've never been on a cruise but would really like to in the near future, so I genuinely appreciate it the time and effort you put into making videos like this. Cheers!
I loved our infinite balcony on the Edge in May. Saying that,it was pleasant enough to sleep with the window open at night and not too hot during the day. So it worked well for us.
I stayed in a solo infinite veranda on Apex and absolutely loved it. My trip was to the Caribbean but this would be a great balcony to to Alaska as you can enjoy the view inside where it’s warm and cozy
Thanks for the video. There has been so much conflicting opinions about these balconies. We didn’t book one for that reason. It’s great to have a thorough review.
OMG, I love this cabin. I would literally book this ship just for this room. I wonder if they could refit this into older ships. Alaksa cruises would be awesome
My husband and I have come to prefer a balcony. The arrangement in this cabin wouldn't work for us. I need to keep the cabin cool as I overheat easily. My husband likes to check the weather/sunshine so the motorized blinds don't work either. Thanks for the review so we don't have to try this for ourselves.
We absolutely love everything about the Veranda and the room itself & bathroom. It was just hands down the best view from indoors. Took a trip to the hot Bimini Beach Bahamas and quickly jumped back on Celebrity Beyond. We described it as Perfect!
I love balconies and experiencing the weather, so I think the Infinite Veranda would be a second best for me,but still way better than going out on deck to get fresh air.
Particularly for people with energy limiting conditions so you can rest without a view. It seems like a great way to get lots of light and air through the room but still be able to use the space if the weather is bad.
I took my very first cruise with my mom in Feb 2020 (yes, RIGHT before Covid!) and it was the best!!! We had such a great time! She passed away last year and I am so grateful for that wonderful memory with her. I hope you enjoyed your cruise with your mom! 🥰
I think I would hate this verandah. There’s definitely a difference between having a real balcony vs a giant open window. I’ve never cruised, but I always get a balcony room on coastal vacations, and it makes a difference!
Can you tell if the cruise card was used before you got it? If not, i would be concerned about a perv or the like putting wireless cameras or the like if they got a chance.
The wife likes to sleep in, and I am an early bird. That said, a regular balcony works out better for us. With a traditional balcony, I can be as quite as a mouse because the balcony door (or slider) offers less noise, less light, and the AC keeps running.
I LOVED the Infinite Veranda on EDGE. I can understand the lesser 'sea breeze' opinion that some people have, but for me, the view even when closed, and the extra space, far made up for it. Now that some dislike them, and standard balconies are in short supply, they tend to be cheaper than a regular balcony to book on Edge. Power to us!
It's a window, not a balcony, I prefer the traditional one. The chairs in the so-called balcony are the most uncomfortable chairs ever, why do I want to sit in dining room chairs on a balcony, I want something relaxing that I can put my head back and chill out, it would also be nice if my feet reached the floor. Also, if you're in the room with an early riser and they want to go out there to lift the shade, it lights up the room while your trying to sleep.
Neat video! I didn't know they used the Magic Carpet to load and unload the tenders. That is a super cool idea! Also, Captain Hudson is really cute. :)
We booked a 22 day back to back on Edge and we have an aft balcony. Are they all the same? All infinity balconies? I think we are ok with it.... the bathroom is more important to me and it looks great.
the balcony isn't what you think of when you think of a balcony, but that it has the floor to ceiling window is amazing.. can just imagine waking up and being able to fully see that view
I love it, but I think the curtain is a dealbreaker for me. Also, I can imagine people being mad for not being able to open the window whenever they want, because the captain overrules it.
The only reason the Captain will overrule the open window is safety. You can bet some asshol guest wanting to experience the hurricane full force with his open window!
Thanks for doing this video, Emma. I want to go on the Edge in a balcony cabin but when I saw what they had done to it, I thought no thanks, I’d go for a standard cabin. But I keep an open mind so it’s interesting to see a video specifically on this one topic. Thank you.
Are the beds as uneven as they appear with the head area being quite lower than the feet? I think I prefer a real balcony for the most part but could see it being nice for like a cold weather cruise. I am also surprised they dont require you to shut the window if you have the separator doors open as they usually ask you to not have the slider balcony door open at all. Usually they site the ac struggling as the reason
We loved the infinite veranda on Edge. Our first time on the vessel, we slept with it open every night except the last (the waves were way too loud)! Can't wait for our November sailing on the Beyond in a infinite veranda stateroom :-D
@@EmmaCruises Quite. But we’re both early risers. I tried to get our room attendant to keep the blind open, but I think they closed it every night during the evening turnover service.
Sailed in one of these on the Icon of the Seas. This cabin is the reason I’ll never cruise with Royal Caribbean again. When you sell me a balcony guarantee, I expect to get a balcony. This is not a balcony. This is an ocean view room with a window that rolls down. When you roll your windows down in your car, are you in a convertible all of a sudden? Didn’t think so.
3:08 I think people are usually worried about someone hiding in the room waiting for them, or someone placing a hidden camera. both would be very scary!
But if they took your keys, you can't get it. You would have to go to guest services and they can see if someone opened that door and would send security. I don't think that some of you realize how they know everything that goes on on the ships
@@isthatrubble The envelopes are sealed. It would be VERY evident right away if someone had opened it up. You don't think that cruise lines have thought of all of this? It is not an issue at all.
Random correction : the Euro sockets were actually *lower* voltage than the UK socket as they were running USA voltage (110V) whereas the UK socket was listed at 220V i.e European voltage which is fine for UK / worldwide non USA equipment.
I love having a traditional balcony as I like to go out in the night to warm up! I’m talking about the Caribbean of course not Norway 😂. To me sitting in the sun in privacy is wonderful even though the handrail is also at the exact height of my eyes, just like yours. Celebrity is my cruise line of choice but not the edge class ships - give me the S class every time. Thank you for confirming I’m right ❤
Oh wow. If the price was right, this would be my perfect cabin. Balconies always made me nervous. I love them, but they always seemed to bring out my fear of heights. Not sure why, since I know they are perfectly safe. But this to me is awesome. It’s like having a floor to ceiling window that opens just enough to let in the fresh air. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for these in the future! 😁
I can’t believe in this day and age that people still think riding a massive floating city is a good time. Trapped on board with the worst kind of tourists known to man…..how on earth can anyone think this is a good way to travel? I live in Trieste and the locals are DISGUSTED when the cruise ships pull into port. Everyone I know in Italy hates cruise ships because of the type of people that get unleashed onto small cities and over run them.

On my last cruise the library was too noisy! I ended up in the cigar lounge until someone wanted to use it to smoke a cigar!

Now that some dislike them, and standard balconies are in short supply, they tend to be cheaper than a regular balcony to book on Edge. Power to us!
I've never been on a cruise ship before but your videos give a great insite to what it would be like. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! That black and white striped dress is beautiful!!! ❤❤😊 That balcony was amazing, but not the motorized shade 😢
Captain Hudson is absolutely adorable❤❤
We booked a 22 day back to back on Edge and we have an aft balcony. Are they all the same? All infinity balconies? I think we are ok with it.... the bathroom is more important to me and it looks great.
The aft balconies are the traditional type. Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Not sure I'd really call that a balcony - more like a window that opens!
the balcony isn't what you think of when you think of a balcony, but that it has the floor to ceiling window is amazing.. can just imagine waking up and being able to fully see that view
I love it, but I think the curtain is a dealbreaker for me. Also, I can imagine people being mad for not being able to open the window whenever they want, because the captain overrules it.
I would be the one where the seagull poop is on the outside lower glass pane, right in my view. I'll pass too.
@@erikh9991Right. One must even count low probability events. Have you ever had sea gull poop on a regular balcony?
Have you MET most cruisers? I would like the ability to overall their decisions too.
The only reason the Captain will overrule the open window is safety. You can bet some asshol guest wanting to experience the hurricane full force with his open window!
@@barryhaley7430 then the captain should have weather monitor at bridge, not a lock for windows. proactive vs reactive safety feature.
If they take your cruise card can they charge stuff right away?
It has your photo linked so I guess only if they were a secret twin 😂
A new video from Emma! Something to look forward to when my workday is done! 😊
Awwh thanks so much, hope your day goes okay! :)
So could the card that is left outside the door be taken to use at the bars etc? Sorry, never been on a cruise. 😊
When they scan it your photo comes up and you often have to sign so maybe if they looked like you 🤔😂
I’d be worried about bugs and the heat with that room, for sure
Didn't see a bug! ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Don’t really get bugs at sea!
You’re so great! I love your vids and I think I live vicariously through you at this point
Hi! You have a very calming voice, I rly enjoy listening to your videos :))
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
Thanks for doing this video, Emma.
Oooo!! But then you had to have the blind open wasn't it light? ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@jaklg7905 they could open the door, then put the card back as they found it, and you would have no idea.
I saw when she said UK plug it was in 110v so be careful
Enjoyed the video ❤
I think I would prefer a traditional balcony.
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I wonder if you will ever do a cruise on a line good for older people (we are 60) and in a full suites.
Emma, I assumed when you say a zoomed-in mirror that you mean a magnifying mirror for doing makeup?
YES!! MAGNIFY! Thats the word I wanted. ha ha.
I always smile when I see Captain Hudson. He's so cute 😊
On European river boats, these balconies were called French balconies. Don't ask me why, I don't know.
I love this cabin! Being able to open that window is great.
I have heard captains and engineers say balconies are not good for a ship. I’m watching this to hear, because like you I have heard it both ways.
As if pools or waterslides are good for the ship :)
Thank you for confirming I’m right ❤
The library was too cold? She could have put on a sweater!
So true, or got a blanket!! Ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Can you shut the balcony doors, open the window and keep the air con on for the people in the room?
It's not a balcony or a verandah - it's an open window at best!
Love this, never been on a cruise before, it looks beautiful!!
That is NOT a balcony, that's an open window
I started cruising last year and this was the first cruise I went on, been on it twice now so it will always have a special place in my heart
So it’s not a balcony but a large window that kinda opens……
Could you leave the “doors” to the balcony open just to leave the balcony window completely closed?
Yay!!! Your videos are so calming
Awwwwh, I love this. Thank you! 😁❤️
Love your videos 📹 🚢
Thank you! 😁❤️
My favorite thing about cruise ships is laying in bed and seeing and hearing the water so this would be fab for me
would be great for the kids, safe and lots to see.
This would be my preferred type of room. I love that indoor/outdoor vibe. I’d never leave lol ❤
I've never been on a cruise but you are an amazing ambassador for that industry
I think it's a great setup, that infinite balcony.
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
