Hollow Knight, but the speed increases every 3 minutes...

- In this challenge run, I installed a Hollow Knight mod that allows me to adjust the speed of the game. Every 3 Minutes, the speed will increase by 0.05 times, additively. Can I beat the game before it becomes completely unplayable? Really, this is an odd speedrun, where you need to beat the game faster to make it slower, so that you can beat it in the first place.

The watcher knights fight was a good representation of how it feels to fight bosses in your very first playthrough.

@@spoongrman Tool Assisted Speedrun. Tl;dr: Tools outside the game are used to create a demonstration of a speedrun that is technically possible, but not necessarily feasible for a person to pull off.
The most common sort of TAS has the creator picking exactly what input is given on exactly which frame. This allows a TAS to be 'perfect' - it never has to play safe, it does all the hardest skips and tricks first try, etc etc.
Blue has some videos showing off various TASes, I'd recommend giving them a look if you're interested.

this guy can do watcher knights with close to no equipment and on 1.3x speed
i cant even do it with pure nail, nearly all charms, 8 masks and all three upgraded spells (edit: and shade cloak)

If you put the video on 0.75x playback speed, it just looks like he's playing normal speed and he's really bad at the game

I restarted watching hollow knight content and after watching like a hundred speedrun videos by you, skurry and Fire I decided to try some of my own and now I'm addicted. I blame y'all for how much fun I'm having and wish you a very great year.

@@xenongd6974 The practice in godhome is pretty nice and I'll let you in on a secret when I first did it, I got to absrad in p5 (got demolished immediately but got to her) and then I had debug and infinite hp on, infinite hp gives you feedback and I spent all the time just dodging her hits without attacking her and only made it go to the next phase when I felt ready for it.

it's kinda crazy how even the SLIGHTEST increase in speed can make the whole game feel weird and off-putting XD that's what happens after hundreds (thousands for others) of hours in the game at normal pace.

Watching this video is real weird because although I've played Hollow Knight, I mostly watch videos and I watch videos at 1.25 or 1.5 speed
So the speed up doesn't look too impactful for me but I know it must feel really strange

I agree that fun is always more important than the rules of the run. The point of the challenge is to enjoy the game in a different way, and if it's impossible, all you're going to accomplish is frustrating yourself.

I think the ideal version of this mod would have the timescale increase constantly but very slowly. Then people could compete to see who can beat the game with the fastest increasing timescale.
