This is a planet earth level documentary. This is where I grew up, catching these fish on the weekends with a bunch of other kids. Getting to see them under water like this is just amazing. These beautiful Rasboras we call them “Pla Siu (see-u)” Obrigado!!
You must be so so happy to see that these fish is still alive and we as aquarist must do everything to preserve all endangered species by breeding these fish and spreading them around the hobby. So in the future we can reintroduce them if they happen to go extinct in the wild.
Ah this reminded me of my childhood. I spent my entire childhood catching these fishes. During the monsoon, after weeks and weeks of heavy rainfall my entire village used to get flooded and we would see all these fishes swimming in the streets and fields, the rice fields used to become like an ocean. Miss those days. From Zebra Fish to colorful Gouramis to different species of Danios. Watching them again in this video seems like I am meeting my friends after a very, very long time.
I am from India, I am into aquarium fish keeping hobby. I explore my local streams, paddy fields, creeks looking for different aquarium plants and fish, which I collect and keep in my aquarium. This video clarified lots of my doubts about many different species of plants and fishes.. Thank you so much..
I always wanted to visit Thailand for its natural aquatic wildlife , their aquatic fona and floral is beyond our imagination... it's a natural treasure chest for aquatic lovers , not to forget that most of the world most valuable and most appreciated fish come from Thailand... so thank you to each and every one who fights daily to maintain this wildlife and their habitat ... and thank you to the team for sharing these treasures with us through your videos
My teraphy is not gigantic buildings or malls... it is mother earth beauty. That is why in my aquarium i fell lonely if no live plants planted. The harmony of my fishes and the live plants gave a satisfactory feeling of comfort and happiness
You made my day. Both Trichopsis cousins and the 3 spotted guramy in the wild? Oh, man, I can't wait for the rest to be released. Oh, and your voice is at least as good as the computer lady. 😉
I’ve collected Smaragdina Betta in Isan on several occasions and will be moving there in 7 years when I retire. Excellent video we are looking forward to receiving our calendar.
That sounds amazing! If there are any particular places you would recommend I'm always looking for more locations. Thank you so much for your order, it means the world to me, I hope you like it!
I had the similar Greenlined Rasbora. As perfect as Aquarium fish get. Only the relatively short lifespan is a drawback. They shoaled and enjoy the sunlight that lit up the aquarium a few hours a day. Looks like you already have one of the best Aquarium channels on YOUtUBE. Keep up the good work!
You have one of the most beautiful voices, I ever heard. I am so glad UA-cam put one of your videos in my feed. I love your videos to. Some of the most amazing places I ever seen. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas
I've Learned 2 things from this video..1st I don't know that they thought somphong was extinct because I've saw it in the wild just fine for the past 15 years...and 2nd I don't know that snake head can change appearance to camouflage..haha..that's new knowledge for me 👍🏿
When I was a kid we used to hang by the rice field to catch crabs. Those are good childhood memories. The suck thing is we stuck in refugee camp, but we sneak out to catch fishes after heavy rain.😂😂
Thank you, Rodrigo, for this wonderfully filmed documentary. As others have commented, the water in this stream is so clear it could be in an aquarium. It's surprising that such a diversity of fishes could survive in a stream surrounded by agriculture. Is this habitat protected?
Ahhh .....This is just so beautiful, really some great efforts from your side, you are not even on million subs and this is your video quality, can't wait for future vids
I guess the fact that all these fishes look similar could *technically* be called convergent evolution, but I feel like mimicry is a more accurate term because they are probably evolving to look like each other (thereby reducing their likelihood of standing out and being a target of predators) rather than independently evolving to fit a specific niche that happens to require the same appearance
I am currently reside at one of the village in Buriram Province in Thailand, the endanger species mentioned in this vides, it seems plentiful here during raining seasons, and it came with 2 sizes, one big and one small
Are Sophong's rasboras being bred in captivity? Maybe that would help this species conservation and possible re-introduction into wider area... if some of their lost natural habitats can also be restored. Thanks for the beautiful and interesting video! ❤
It'd be awesome if you can find the Vietnamese Pond Turtle in its natural habitat. Hardy species, breeders have a lot of them now, but in the wild they're super rare :(
I lived in Thailand for 16 years, my house was next to ricefields. This video is idealistic and misleading. Real life no one uses buffalo in ricefields anynore. They just put them and cows on the ricefields to eat the stubble after harvisting the rice with tractors and machinery. Farmers poison the water with chemicals to kill snails and weeds. The drains and streams have nostly beem dug into steep sided concrete drains.. Also lots of the fields are being filled in with red earth and housing estates built on them. It is really sad to see this 😢
Pá, mais um grande vídeo. É caso para dizer: Portugal CARALHO!!!! Excelente imagens. Excelente trabalho. Muitos parabéns. Continua com o excelente trabalho.

This is quality content, just like your previous vids. You got a sub, sir!
If the narration is in Sir David Attenborough's voice, it would be perfect :D marvelous cinematic documentary!
Wonderful footage and production. Really beautiful and fascinating.

Bellos peces 😊
The naration is like a nat geo episode
thats why we called them as "sneaks head" not "snake head" bc they're sneaky hunter 😂
people are always far to quick sto say something is exstint, and low and behold 20, 30 + yrs more have been found
What the hell how dare nature survive so easily 😱😱😱😱
Very good video, but why was the black fish at the beginning overlooked and unnamed?
Can someone ID some of the plants that show up in this video? im trying to make a thai rice field inspired walstad style biotope.
❤❤❤
You should trek the jungles of Sarawak, Malaysia
Who knows? Maybe you may find strange fish
Your videos are awesome, everyone is curious, is it an AI voice, or a real lady?
What's preventing the snakeheads from overwhelming the area, birds? What other predators do they have?
Water snakes, other species of snakeheads, numerous species of fishing and wading birds, various species of catfish, freshwater otters, fishing cats etc
Really lucky that there are no invasive species in this water !
I didn't see any while filming, but sadly there is Tilapia, Guppies and Plecos in that region.
👍👍👍
Somphong's rasbora might be rare in the wild but you can buy them on line or at your local pet shop........................................
I dnt think it's endangred species,?? We have here in the Philippines all that fishes showed on your channel
