Nice! I'm astonished how easy and how strong this is. Good for failing eyes. I like your second one too. I've seen more than one version of the double davy--this is the one I like. I recently purchased a knot tool that works like the piston style hackle pliers. This tool makes it easy to tie both knots in bad light.
If you mean the tag after the knot has been tied then yes usually it requires a small trim, emphasis on small as this knot leaves the smallest tag of any knot I know.
I prefer a loop knot for Crease flies and poppers but I do make a point of tying it small. With all knots I think it's a really idea to test them out against other knots because confidence plays a huge part in knot selection.
@@petermorse5442 thank you Pete. I might have to pay closer attention to how I tie my loop knots I think. As always, love your content and i look forward to more of it.

One of my favorite knots when tying to a fly or other hook eye. I’ve heard the second version called the “Double Davy”.
Hello, you always cut away some tippet, don’t you??? Or am I seeing that wrong? Thanks for the good advice!

@ Thank you very much. What you say is correct!! I haven’t been fly fishing for long. To save tippet, is using a tippet ring a good idea?
Hi Pete would you use that in a saltwater application for things like crease flies and poppers where I prefer not to use a loop knot?

@@GB-cm6yy Thanks - haha, might have to do a loop knot clip then.
Thanks Peter. It would be really interesting to hear your take on various set ups, pros / cons. Nice to have it home-grown. Cheers PP
