My only note would be that I feel like you should use a bowline knot or something for the tow strap. The added strength of the strap won't mean much if the knot comes loose. But having said that, this video was a huge help and way better than some of the ideas I was coming up with to try to pull my branch down. Thanks!
Better to hire a tree trimming service. The limbs of some oaks contain wood strains that are extremely tough to pull even if the limb has been damaged. I know. I tried the same method and I could have pulled six ways to Sunday and it would not break free....

also, look up video for rope saw. you can manually saw the branch using 2 long ropes

You're right and I did have a tree service remove several hangers I could not pull down. This was my one success lol.

instead of a pole, you can tie a string to a large socket from a socket wrench, and throw the socket over the branch
This limb was so high up it would take an arm like an NFL QB for reach it.
