Yes don't try this at home. Billy is a seasoned pro with decades of practice. You weekend warriors can get yourselves royally messed up or killed trying this. I out to know, I have 40 years in the tree business and this might look easy but it's not.
I found that the easiest way for me to get a hungup tree free once one end is on the ground is a 3 ton come-a-long and a chain. When I first started cutting trees on my property I got more trees hungup than I like to admit lol. Thank you again for a good video and sharing your knowledge with everyone.
I truly appreciate your instruction. Just had an 80-90 foot Tennesee white oak fall and hung up in my back yard. I trimmed from top down. Now down to mid trunk, but not without getting my saw hung up 3 times. Should have watched your video first. You are truly a blessing to to this novice. Your over the screen comments are reassuring and much appreciated. You’re a good spirit and an accomplished drummer. Keep being you! The world needs more people like you.

Been there, done that! Years ago I hung up 2 small Larch trees while making firewood, and I had no idea how to get them down. I drove down to an old loggers place and got some advice, went back and took them down just like you just showed. It looks easy when you see it done but I remember being very nervous.
This winter created a few of these on my property. I watched the video and cringed on every cut. (so I have to disagree with "it looks easy") I came to the comments and expected to read a bunch of Karens saying you should do this another way, but most comments are - you did it textbook. I do agree with the "very nervous" cause just watching - I was. How do you know whats going to happen? How do you know it's not rolling towards you? Does the weight always make it fall and dig into the earth straight down?

Been a carpenter for 25 years. Track houses, custom houses, schools fire stations. A Forman at every step of the way in each in that order. Retired and now moved to the mountains and working with a 30 year vet learning this trade and now I feel like I’m 18 all over again. Shit is fun but scary as hell at the same time. I feel alive!
Billy I just watched this video being new to your channel and this tree is more what the normal maintenance guy would be facing.. I’m a ground maintenance guy on a golf course in ny which is forest lined. We are constantly dealing with dead downed or leaning trees toward the course of play.. I learned a lot except we only have 18” bars..thanks for your time..
Fantastic cutting, and great drumming too ... nice moler whip ... funky beats. Those broken snags, especially that tall, are serious, and easy to screw up if you don't know what your doing. Even if you know what your doing, branches fall, snap, you never know what is going to happen, and keeps you on your toes. You cut it just perfect! I learned a lot from this video, both cutting and drums! Thanks!
Been there when that kind of tree felling went wrong. Luckily survived! You made this look too easy. I hope it doesn’t encourage too many others to try the same thing. They call them widow makers for a reason.

Yes, he's got some seriously deep grooves and approaches it intuitively first. I’ve played with plenty of drummers and Billy is definitely someone I would fully enjoy grooving with. Sounds like he could handle many styles. Please be careful out there and preserve all your 'parts' bro!

Your saws always sound so happy!! You can tell when an engine is happy! Whether it be a v-8 or a chainsaw. They seem to work effortlessly. You don’t have to work them hard to get what you need from them. It’s in the design and tune. KEEP CUTTING FRIEND!
Found your channel wow that was sketchy! My grandpa Bill would have just cut the tree down that the long leaner was hanging up on. & they would have both fell at the same time. But maybe your way is better? Idk? That tree was so tall I was thinking it was gonna stand on end then you could fall it backwards lol thanks for teaching me that slanted cut & that first backwards cut. You rock! Brother!

I have removed meany widowmakers of that leaning variety, always notched and cut like I was felling an upright tree. I'm going to have to try your technique on the next one. I'm asked to clear em cause I'm either stupid or crazy, probably both and that's why I'm still here!! 🤣😎😁
Any recommendations on a bar for my Stihl 044 project rebuild? I live in Northeast Florida cutting mostly big live oaks. My tree's are 6-8' in diameter so the branches that fall mostly are 12" wide.
Thanks for sharing how to cut a leaner in that position of that size bukin. I had two last week similar to the one you cut, blown down from wind. I could stump jump the trees but how you put your face cut I could of done with knowing, dropping the stump under pressure was nerve racking indeed, thanks again for the know how buddy👍
I wish I would have seen that back in November. I had a tall white pine break off like that about 15' up. I did it backwards I see now. I was afraid of it and could not find any advice on what to do so i wasted a lot of time trying to pull it down with a 4 wheeler with no joy so I cut it down. I cut a large birds mouth notch in the direction of the lay of the crown instead of opposite like you did with that giant notch there in the vid. It was pretty hairy but I got it down safely. Next time I will do it the way you did, makes more sense. Cheers, Jon
Any hints on where to find those lovely axhandles you use? Its really hard to find any bigger/thicker handles here in Europe and i still have few old Billnas axes i need to fix!
First time watching your videos and I learned something from this one. When the tree was near vertical and you cut it at an angle it just dropped down without binding up the saw good job. I have a big Stihl saw with 28 inch bar I would like to get you to tune it up for me. I don't know what I would do with it I am getting to old to swing it around though. I could stump jump the trees but how you put your face cut I could of done with knowing, dropping the stump under pressure was nerve racking indeed, thanks again for the know how buddy👍

I wish I would have seen that back in November. I had a tall white pine break off like that about 15' up. I did it backwards I see now. I was afraid of it and could not find any advice on what to do so i wasted a lot of time trying to pull it down with a 4 wheeler with no joy so I cut it down.
I cut a large birds mouth notch in the direction of the lay of the crown instead of opposite like you did with that giant notch there in the vid. It was pretty hairy but I got it down safely. Next time I will do it the way you did, makes more sense.

Any hints on where to find those lovely axhandles you use? Its really hard to find any bigger/thicker handles here in Europe and i still have few old Billnas axes i need to fix!
First time watching your videos and I learned something from this one. When the tree was near vertical and you cut it at an angle it just dropped down without binding up the saw good job. I have a big Stihl saw with 28 inch bar I would like to get you to tune it up for me. I don't know what I would do with it I am getting to old to swing it around though.
