About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

It's nice to see you are past the pressure cooker part of preparing your formal gardens .... now you can tend to the plants while moving back to the 401 suite during the heat of the summer. Just think of all that went into the garden creation, all those rocks and stumps, the wall rebuild, resetting stone edging, tilling and tilling again. Quite a journey!

They trialed an AI version that Ash was programming to cut grass on the upper level last year..perhaps that will make an appearance again!
Or perhaps a "lawn rumba"! They would gently cut the grass without spreading the clippings onto the gravel path...
I'm getting so excited to see those little grass seeds poking their heads up through the dirt. I can't praise you all enough!! What a great work ethic you all have to make your dream come true. Talk about pride of ownership...you all have it and your quest will produce a creation of beauty and it will endure for generations!! Bravo!!

I watch a lot of generational family farmers here in the US. A lot of them use huge rollers on the their fields after planting them. It sets the seeds, levels out the fields & pushes rocks down so they don’t hit them with their combines in the Fall.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw Patrick in the new freshly planted lawn area i was worried he was going to start digging,great progress,
100% agree to spread by hand. Otherwise you will have grass coming up in other places. You may need to cover it with straw to stop the birds from eating it.
Every hand is needed in the garden,so I hope Rob will stay for weeks.

My late father loved,loved,loved his lawn and it was always perfection.He used to love the rain and when it sprinkled down lightly he would always ask us kids to listen carefully to hear the grass growing.

I love seeing Patrick dig….so I asked Google “Are dachshund dogs bred for digging?” And YES, They were originally bred to hunt animals that lived in burrows like badges & rabbits. Dachshund is the German word for badger dog, which I didn’t know. When I was very very young, whenever I saw a dachshund, I would yell out “Hey the hot dog dog!”

The repeats of circles, including the lovely stairs from the first terrace to the walled garden, are so beautifully effective in creating the garden format and structure. The spaces created will showcase plants and features beautifully! Can’t wait to see things grow and flourish!

I know it's exhausting, yet the work is so superbly done & gorgeous.
Pushing the seeds down into the dirt will also help keep the birds from thinking you've spread them out a lovely feast of seeds! But, man, what a tedious and back-breaking method of spreading grass seeds over that large of an area!
In 10 days the grass will be noticeable. What a transformation that will be.

🌱🌱🌱Ash, I’m not questioning your seed process, even admire the flat roller.. I do want to share something I learned recently. Search YT “pre-germination grass seed”, there are several videos using a bucket method to pre-soak the seed, germinate, and sprout, then plant. . I plan to over-seed in the fall using this method. It is really hard to believe what this walled garden once looked like. It looks absolutely beautiful now.
This was lovely to watch. Need to watch out for those Patrick birds scratching up all the grass seed (joke). Hoping you made it through the storm without any damage. I saw on other video's that some cars were damaged by hail.

Instead of grass seed, you should use sod. So many seed brands have weed seed in them. Just a thought.
