That's how I got my first Tigershark (Project Freebie Jet Ski). The owner said the crankshaft was broken and listed it for free on craigslist. Thankfully he didn't have any takers and I went over there and picked it up. It took a lot of money to make my first Daytona 1000 right, but I also learned a lot about how these skis are built. Good luck on getting that jet ski! Hope it works out.

rebuilding the same 1000cc carbs... MAG 7/8 turn, center 3/4 turn, PTO 3/4 turn... runs a little rough still. How can i adjust further?

Just my opinion, but you really should stick to oem mikuni on the carb parts. (Needle and seat are fine from SBT) it probably wont be an issue for the tigersharks since none of them run high pop offs like yamaha, but I have had a ripped main diaphragm happen with aftermarket kits. The material is different. Aftermarkets are rubber, but if you compare an oem mikuni side by side, you will see the oem appears to have a fabric material covered in rubber. That almost cost me a 2000 dollar yami big bore engine, so ill spring for OEM mikuni parts here on out. OSD marine has a mikuni “al la carte” part listing where you can get only what you need.

I have 1996 tigershark montego (2 stroke), I lost compression in first piston,. And I was wonder if u have any information that would be help full? They told me the whole top end would have to be replaced.

Hi Kaleub, did you see the link I left to the Tigershark facebook repair group in the description? It's a great place to get your questions answered. If the front piston is low on compression, then the first thing I would do is figure out what caused you to loose that cylinder. Are the carbs clogged up? Have they ever been rebuilt? I sure would hate for you to throw a top end on it only to have it happen to you again. These skis are getting really old so it probably isn't a bad idea to tear down the whole motor and replace the outer crank seals and base gaskets as well. If any of those seals or gaskets are leaking they can cause the engine to run lean and ruin a piston. Good luck!

I re-used the factory springs and needle jets that came with the carbs.
