Entire Pink floyd albums needs to be listen to,because one song blends into another and tells a story. Start with Dark side of the moon which holds the record for staying on the billboard charts like 20 years.
This ^^ 100%
That can go with most of their albums! They don't do individual songs. They do story telling with their music! That's what make them great!
Top 100 for over 30yrs. Start with Dark side of the moon, then wish you were here, then the wall, medal
this album is the soundtrack from a movie of the same name , to get the full effect , watch the movie
@@brianhuff5346 movies ok. The album by itself is better because as long as you know your history and have a struggling faith... You'll understand
A tough album to pick singles from to listen too. It really is better to experience it all in one sitting. Roger Water's semi-autobiographical depiction of a rock star who is the product of over-bearing mother and authority figures (teachers) and builds an emotional "wall" to protect him from emotions and the associated pain. In the end he is forced to tear down the wall and expose himself. The poem was actually lyrics from their song "Money" from the Dark Side of the Moon album.
You need to watch Comfortably Numb live. Just remember, it's a federal crime to pause the video during a David Gilmore guitar solo.
🤣🤣😂😂👍👍💯💯
Nah, it's over-indulgent. The recorded version is better.
@@knowsomething9384 Completely agree. Live versions are cool for people who already know the song, but first listens need to be album versions. Everything is tweaked and worked on to sound exactly how the band intended.
Absolutely true.... life sentence for cutting on Gilmour's solo perfomance.
@@johnnyjohnny-cg7np 100% agree. The way we heard it on the radio and when we bought the album was what made it so important at the time and buy only going for the live version, oftentimes perform two years and years after the fact and not even the same band members sometimes, you just totally missed the whole vibe in the culture of the time and why they became so big to start with. Or why a particular song is so beloved to start with. And plus the Fidelity is almost always way better and you can hear exactly what the band intended you to hear and why it became a hit. And then if you love it that much, then go back and watch a live version to get that visual input.
The band was named in honor of two older black blues musicians from North Carolina, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. It was to signify their desire to be a "BLUES" band. FYI.
Rarely have I seen an American reaction to this where the meaning is appreciated or understood. You are intuitive and have the ability to look outside the box. 👍🇬🇧
fun fact: This video imagery is taken directly from "The Wall" movie, This Album is REALLY designed as a sort of "Rock Opera" and was designed to be viewed as a single story, NOT a collection of individual songs, and is kinda like an expose on Enforced Conformity, esp in schools
Good to know! I had no idea there was a movie!!
@@brittreacts yes , the whole album/movie was designed to go together, so there are ALOT of images directly related to the songs that are playing at the timeframes of the movie, its basically a descent into madness of Roger Waters (Bassist" and Syd Barret(former bandmate that wrote alot of thier songs and then retired after less than 10 years in the music industry) I would suggest reading the Wiki on the Wall THEN Listening to the whole album, it was one of the first movies that incorporated live action mixed with animated sequences
@@brittreacts Good movie. It's actually fascinating from a psychological perspective. This song is a metaphor for Enforced Conformity, but the entire album is about mental illness and the contributing factors therein. Each song is a "brick in the wall". Each brick builds the wall in which he isolates himself from society. A good example is the fact that "Pink's" (the main character in the movie) father dies at the battle of Anzio in which the generals sacrificed men so the rest could escape in an ill-conceived flanking attempt during WW2. Another is an overbearing mother, a cheating spouse, the pressures of a rock career etc etc. P.S. If you do decide to watch that movie (which I would highly recommend), then listen closely to the lyrics as they are very important to the storyline.
@@brittreacts
The poem that the boy "Pinky" wrote in the classroom is actually some of the lyrics to the song "Money" by Pink Floyd off the "Dark side of the Moon" album which is one of the greatest albums ever made and was on the top 200 album charts for a record amount of time and if I'm not mistaken it might be back on the top 200 charts again. The song "Time" off that album is a masterpiece.
@@brittreacts Great Reaction and, as nearly always, an English Band that had incredible success. This 4 Man Group: Pink Floyd( Named after 2 Black American Blues Musicians) was in the USA Billboard Charts with their 1973 Album: "Dark Side Of The Moon" for a WORLD RECORD 741 SUCCESSIVE WEEKS from its release in 1973 to 1988. You MUST watch their LIVE performance of "Comfortably Numb-PULSE" from London which is one of the greatest LIVE performances ever and has no copyright so you can show it in all its splendour Britt but, PLEASE,don't fade it,,, lol
Pink Floyd is other level !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was Bob Geldof at the end. This is from a movie "The Wall" and also a double album of the same name. Bob Geldof played the title role in the movie. Bob was also the lead singer for a band called The Boomtown Rats and co-founded Band-Aid which you probably have heard of and if you haven't, I wouldn't mind seeing you react to Queen's performance at Live-Aid. Pretty much considered to be the best live rock performance of all time.
The Wall is an album with a whole story...worth listening to from begining to end........ Grew up listening to Pink Floyd!
I am completely in shock that you do not know who one of the most iconic bands in history is. WOW. To see Pink Floyd live should be a must for everyone, they are incredible. Dark side of the moon is the best rock album ever produced imo.
I saw the Animals tour at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Then Roger Waters October 2022 in Phoenix. And most of the guitar stuff I learn is Gilmour.
“Time” is in my opinion one of the greatest songs by Pink Floyd
The whole album needs to listened to. It's really a story. A story of drugs, depression, isolation. The Wall is one of the greatest works in rock history.
Simply Put.... You are simply phenomenal.....Thank You
I was living in a southern rural woods cabin. Smoking and drinking. Working and laughing with friends. And Pink Floyd was a good part of that memory.
at the end of the "song" the "phone sounds" you hear are ACTUALLY the Intro to another song called "Mother" , which I def recommend listening too in the context of the Album, its an Audio journey as a Whole
Pink Floyd IS the greatest rock band of all time, 6 decades of unbelievable music. I got to see them in So Cal at Anaheim stadium in 1980
The poem the teacher read from the student consists of lyrics from another Pink Floyd song, Money
The words of the "poem" the teacher was reading out at the beginning of the video are some of the lyrics from another of Pink Floyd's hits "Money"
More Floyd, headphones are a must!!
You can only imagine how many school aged children were singing this song loudly and often back in the early 80's!
Modern lyrics to this should be updated to:
"We don't need no education,
We just need some thought control."
Britt, the words of the "poem" the young boy was writing were the lyrics to the Pink Floyd song "Money"
I saw Pink Floyd in the late 80s while stationed in Germany. To this day, my favorite concert, they were PERFECT!!!!!!! Keep checking them out!!!
This video is from the movie made of Pink Floyd's album The Wall. The guy in the picture at the end is Bob Geldoff, who was behind the movie. I'm pretty sure that Geldoff was the one that put together the Live Aid concert in the 80's (if you haven't seen it yet, Queen's performance was amazing).
Pink Floyd got their name after two favorite blues artist they liked. Pinkney “Pink” Anderson and Floyd Council
Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands to ever grace us with their genius. Their music still holds up as social commentary (since socially and politically nothing has changed in 50 years, not for the better anyway) and they are very talented poets and musicians. This is a deep catalog to dig into. Others have suggested some good ones but Comfortably Numb - Pulse Live, High Hopes - Pulse Live, and Time are all great places to start. But keep in mind, Pink Floyd wrote albums, not songs (once Syd was gone anyway - which is the version of the band most people are familiar with). Their albums were meant to be listened to as a complete story. Hard to do on here as a reaction, I know, but worth it on your own for sure.
The video you watched had clips from a full length movie about the album. It's called The Wall. The kids are not bricks in the wall, the teacher is another brick in the wall of isolation the kid makes for himself to protect him from the evil of his world.
Came out in the 80s in High Schoolthe teachers loved it
Pink Floyd is a Legend Band for sure! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Great Reaction little lady!
The guy in the photo was an actor Bob Geldof. He was acting as Pink in movie "The Wall".
Hey Britt, this track came out whilst I was at school and the teachers at the time hated it. I remember going on a geography field trip and the whole bus singing it throughout most of the journey. Great work as usual, give Pink Floyds 'money' a listen to. This was the poem the teacher in this clip was referring to.
No, Pink Floyd is just the name of the band. Happens that when you listen to this band you must go for the whole LP at once, they are a theme. So each song is linked to the next. Like the scenes of a movie. Regards.
Fun fact, the "poem" that was read by the teacher were actually lyrics to another pink floyd song called money.
That was Bob Geldof . . He played Pink on the film, watch the film Pink Floyd The Wall, but with a friend. . . 👍👍😁😁
those "poems" kept the album Dark side of the moon on the billboard charts for over 500 weeks. (10 years)
Poetry set to music 🎶 🎵 ✨️ it's about not being cookie cutter, be yourself 💗
'The Wall' is actually a movie. That's why it changed scene right at the end :)
And Pink Floyd are the band
Hey Brit, really enjoy watching your reactions to classic videos. And while you're on Pink Floyd, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do reaction to Pink Floyd's performance of "Comfortably Numb" from their Pulse Tour Live from 1994!!... It's one of the best live performances you'll probably ever see. From the visual effects to the guitar solo. It truly is amazing. So, please, please do a reaction video.... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
its interesting to note that the poem of the schoolboy was actually the lyrics to another pink floyd recording entitled,,,,, money
Lol lol lol ...... "Yall are they really hot dogs" lol lol lol I LOVE BRITT .... you are adorable.
You're quite incredible. Very wise and deep. I remember when The Wall came out. I loved it.
Saw them in concert. The Best. Grab some popcorn with a big TV with an Amazing sound system and watch the entire Pick Floyd the Wall in Berlin. Best ever! Enjoy!
You should really check out the pulse concert, comfortably numb,or the live version of ,on the turning away, both are excellent. 👍
I never heard anybody break this song Down quite like you have. You get it. Stereo headphone please. You can't listen to Pink Floyd with the computer speakers.
This album is about the original lead singer sid Barret, he left the group because he went crazy and was hospitalized
Britt... There is a point to this music when heard in it's entirety. Many post WWII schools not only taught, they molded. There was a cultural revolution goin' on and these were changing times ...it was reflected in the music.
Guitar Master and Vocalist - David Gilmore. To really experience his beauty, please react to:
Comfortably Numb - Pulse Live
Best reaction I've seen to this song!
I have 17 versions of this song.
This is my favorite
This is my favorite
This is my favorite
That video reflects on teachers and schools in the 1950s to 1970s . I had a teacher who once decided to hit me for talking in class . My gran who raised noticed the mark on my leg so to my surprise and the teacher's surprise she waited for him to come out of school and I had no more trouble
I homeschool my kids we have since preschool but we unschool, its complete child led learning, my kids have 100% freedom with their education....my 12 year old is set to graduate highschool by 14. Its amazing what kids can do when they are given true freedom to think for themselves.
I love the poem in this video is the lyrics from Pink Floyds song Money.
Saw Pink Floyd in concert in 1988,great band, love their music
The poem the teacher reads out loud are lyrics from Money, a Pink Floyd song.
The picture at the end is of Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats and the force behind the Live Aid benefit concerts. Geldof plays the lead in the movie The Wall.
It's very knowingly and purposedly done.
Just a quick note.
The poem the teacher was reading and being mean about is actually from the Pink Floyd song "Money"
This video is from the movie "Pink Floyd - The Wall", and the photo at the end is of Bob Geldof...the actor who played grown up Pink...and his costar (wife) Eleanor David.
The BEST live Pink Floyd video is, "Comfortably Numb" at the Pulse!! "The Wall" is also a movie worth reviewing or just watching.
It's interesting you say that about this song because this song came out when I was in the 3rd grade, and the teaching establishment of the time tried to have this song band.
check out the live pulse concert version of comfortably numb to see the band live
Do you know how many graduation days this was played on
My god this brings back so many memories
This is a song, a story, a vision an epic event. The movie was amazing!!
I love your thoughts about this. You are so right!
This is how my parents was schooled in the uk, Schools now are miles apart now 😂 but I do remember when I was 10 in 1990 having to stand outside the class room with my nose against the wall and the teacher (Mr Robert’s) who come out and hit the back of my head..
"Another Brick In The Wall" was turned into a "rock opera" like "Tommy" (The Who) and Beetle's "Yellow Submarine." It's a great movie, but it's a little trippy.
My 7th grade history teacher was my favorite!
Been watching your reaction in many videos and I'm a fan!
peace
This is one song we played full blast at the end of the school year, along with schools out for summer by Alice Cooper.
Holy crap when you asked if they were really hotdogs. Priceless.
The poem he read in front of the class was actually lyrics from the Floyd classic Money...enjoy. I have certainly enjoyed your reactions.
Great reaction Britt! Should definitely listen to the album version of all the music first to get all the nuances in their production. This version was re-recorded for the movie and the guitar solo was buried I the mix for some crazy reason. The Wall specifically is best listened to the album first, then the movie, then the live concert called "Is There Anybody Out There?". Looking forward to more!
just a side note the "poem" in the begining of the song was lyrics from money another pink floyd song
The poem the teacher is bashing are the lyrics to Pink Floyd's "Money", another one of their songs that is a must. They wanted to show how strict and stern the education system could be and how it also tended to teach conformity while sniffling out individuality. Like several of their songs, there is an element of social awareness.
"The Poem" are lyrics to Pink Floyd song "Money"
You listened to two songs, the first on is called happiest days of our lives then another brick in the wall. And that video is from their movie called The Wall, the ending was the beginning of the next scene.
Pink Floyd is 4 guys.
There are so many brilliant Floyd songs, but should check out their song Time next.
Ohhhh ok. That would explain why half the lyrics were missing!!
@@brittreacts The Guy in The picture was Bob Geldof who organized LIVE AUD which raised £30 Million for Africa and from that The USA also organized an event the same day and raised millions. He has never been with Pink Floyd which was formed in 1964 so I do not know why he is pictured. lol
to the music
The Wall is also a movie from Pink Floyd that Follows the Album which stars Bob Geldof. Sort of a dive into post ww2 Britain and also a dive into psychedelia. Much of Pink Floyd's music revolves around band make Sid Barrett who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was eventually institutionalized. The remaining band members were no doubt devastated but also curious as to what was going on in the mind of Sid as far as what was or wasn't reality. Pink Floyd is known for concept albums that really should be listened to all the way thru as they have a beginning, middle, and end as well as a theme. Some great music!
You should listen to Pink Floyds "Comfortably Numb", Pluse concert version.
That Matilda musical you mentioned is an adaptation of the Broadway musical version that was actually written by Tim Minchin.
Pink Floyd is a group, the man and woman at the end were from the movie "the wall" they aren't in the group. The guy's name is Bob Geldoff
It's important to know that these are original scenes from the movie which was made by Alan Parker in 1982 and it contains much autobiographical material of Roger Water's life, the bassist of Pink Floyd: The loss of his father in the second world war, his overbearing mother, the suffering in the authoritarian school system in England after World War II etc. The photo at the end of the clip shows Bob Geldof who's also a rock musician and played the main role in the movie.
I think you have to watch this movie for understanding the full implications of this amazing Pink Floyd album. As far as I know the complete movie can be watched for free on UA-cam.
Facts. I remember studying this album in social studies high school. Teacher was a fan. Another teacher friend of my sister was talking about this album being a way to discuss industrialization and its role to end the world.
We were in Junior School in 1979, in Yorkshire. The pupils (as we were then called) were not allowed to sing "we don't need no education". Anyone caught doing so was sent to the headmaster.
And yes, we were caned at school, on the palm of our hands or on the bum, rarely but to did happen.
Pink Floyd has THE best audio of any concert I have ever been too. They use Quadraphonic sound. The PA system is in the front, the upper sides and the back. I saw them in ASU stadium. We were on the floor waiting for the show to start and at one point they played the sound of a helicopter and it sound like it flew all around us then buzzed our heads, it was crazy.
The WaLL was 1979
It was everywhere !!!
The song and this video which contains scenes from the movie (The Wall) is an enditement of the British school system. The grinder scene and the faceless students are symbolic of what that system does to children's minds. The one child is Pink, the protagonist of the story.
classic song
That was our theme song 1979 the wall seeing him seeing him three times
Great reaction ❤️ You are very insightful
Great reaction. I'm a trainee teacher, I love it. I have people telling me it's an easy job but it's really not.
Fun fact. Pink floyd is the best band of all time
The poem that the teacher is reading is actually Some lyrics from a song that the Pink Floyd does called money
this track also reflects the schools back in the 70's so different than today i left school in 1975 and i did not enjoy my time in education. loved the review
When I was in school we wanted to have this as our class song, but we wasn't allowed to have THIS as our class song. But we ended up having our song Changes by David Bowie..
Очень сильная песня и видеоряд!
Yes, you are correct for the part about Pink Floyd's another brick in the wall and its message. They were trying to tell you about things like CRT of it's time....that is going on today.! Good catch Britt!
I was introduced to this band early 1970s, I was about 6 In 1976, greatest band ever! Great music!
That's Brick in the Wall part two.
When listening to rock n roll like Floyd and Zeppelin you may want to wear headphones to catch the experience
I might offer, headphones will give you an entirely different experience of Pink Floyd. They are masters of soundscaping, and recorded quadraphonic. You’re missing a lot of what’s there. I’d also suggest a reaction to everything on the Dark Side of the Moon album.
This ^^ 100%
Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands their music is so good because they are such accomplished musicians. If you're looking for a good visual of the band, try watching the pulse album DVD it's a live recorded show I think you will love it
