In my own independent training, I realized the grass cutter was the best technique to get consistent at to improve my game the most. I'm glad to see that you agree and that my intuition was correct. I spent days training specifically only this technique. The technique really REALLY makes you hone down your timing, accuracy, body position, body flow, follow through, etc. If you can hit a grass cutter on a bouncing, moving ball accurately and precisely, you can basically learn any other technique with ease.
I'm still learning this game, so any help would be appreciated. I'm a huge rugby fan but my daughter plays soccer. I thought juggling and first touch was important, my daughter's coach says to concentrate on them skills. She is u9s
@@truthseeker7322 for beginners its best to learn how to be comfortable and confident with the ball. Thats best done through dribbling, juggling, and practice recieving for first touch. As far as this technique goes, it would go well with you using it to kick the ball at a wall, practice recieving the ball for your first touch, and then kicking the ball at the wall again. As a beginner you really just want to have the ball at your feet as often as possible to gain the skill, confidence, and composure.
@@truthseeker7322 i wouldnt start to introduce this until shes able to pass and shoot well. I'd teach it in tandem with learning how to do curved balls too.
I've been here since basically the start of the channel, and TFF is a one of a kind channel that you will literally never find something like it again. The quality, the editing, the pacing, the information, the entertainment Tony puts in these videos are absolutely wonderful. Not only me, but everyone who watches appreciate every little effort you put in to these videos, keep it up Tony 🙌💯
Wow, this is a great video! I’m coming back to the sport after a LONG hiatus and was struggling to revive this technique. The parts of your video that really helped me were seeing you break it down in the short-distance version, so I could really get a sense of your “chopping down” on the ball and creating the correct angle between the ankle and the ground (because the foot starts off extended but then flexes to become parallel with the ground). The auditory cue with correct technique is also helpful and reinforcing, that gentle “swishing” sound!
Literally yesterday I was thinking that I am still absolutely clueless on how to do the grasscutter and you making the video on it would be great to understand this. Thanks for reading my mind, I guess. Cheers, mate!
As a CDM , learning this technique is so game changing when you use it to give Busquet filtered through balls that slice a midfield your channel is so underrated man 🙏🏽 , do you think if you speak different languages that affects your game in different ways ? As I got more fluent in Spanish with people from South America I understood football better compared to only playing with English speaking Americans
Thanks for the movement breakdown. I've been pivoting to this for volume passing moving back and inside to CM/CDM. It (along with effective scanning) made me a better player already especially as I get older, like really old. Yet I never had a real inkling as to the movement instead I tried channelling the greats but that only takes you so far. Thank you!
I used to do the grass cutter and still do. It helped me learn how to hit the ball and shoot properly and get my foot under the ball. I also learned to hit knuckleballs, not too consistent but I learned the technique for shooting power shots and curve balls.
This is very good. I wish I would have learned this technique earlier in my career. I can do it now quite well and it is an amazing tool to help the ball cover meaningful distances quickly while still being easy to control by the recipient. Junior players who "get it" early can easily distinguish themselves from peers of similar levels by adding this technique to their repertoire of tools.
As a former goalkeeper turned into defensive midfielder, this technique is one of the few things I AM doing quite consistently because I took my goalkicks this way. Most other possession-based techniques are mediocre at best, but when I get the time our forwards are starting their runs because this is something I CAN do 😂
I’m a real footballer before you even explain yourself I already knew what type of technique pass you are demonstrating I love this technique truly is a wonderclass style of play
I'm getting on a bit but still playing and think I'm going to put some time into this one. There's always something new to learn in football - and then to pass onto others. My favourite has always been the chip. A well placed ball, over the midfield or defenders for players to run onto, has created some lovely attacks and goal scoring opportunities in the past.
Really enjoy your content. Can you make a video regarding the mental side of the game in the future? By which I mean confidence on and off the ball, not being scared to receive the ball, etc
Love the videos, ill defo be practicing this one. Could you do one around la croqueta and how to use it? Theres so many videos teachong how to do it but with a cone or a static fake partner. I can do the motions but struggle to get the timing down in a real match situation. Maybe following on from that, 1 or 2 real world skills to beat a man 1v1, too many flashy and unreal moves being shown around online. Keep it up 👍
Could you make a video where you show how to properly do Tap-Ins sounds stupid but every time I try so score an „easy“ goal with the first touch I miscalculate it and either I only slightly hit the ball and it goes off target or I do not hit the ball at all and it slides by me…kind of frustrating as a striker
This is the best football channel I have watched ✌️🤗, been lost on getting one passing technique that offers versatile and you make this video thank you for your hard work
To me, the most important skills are: 1) Ball close to the feet and stay low at all times. Learn to carry your weight. 2) Body feints. 3) First touch finesse. 4) Multitask and think fast. Use dead time to scan your surroundings and think of your next move, such as when the ball is traveling towards you. 5) Attack empty space and abuse blind spots.
i think the answer to your question can vary depending on age and the level you are playing at my personal list would be age 13 or younger- dribbling/ball control because its one of the easiest and most flashy talents to showcase to get scouted and if you have that the coach is more likely to see you as workable if you dont have your other skills up to par age 13-18/pro level-passing/touch at this stage assuming you already have dribbling or you have another skill that got you scouted this is the stage where having a bad touch or horrible passing is unacceptable and in my opinion should be your top priority at this stage 18+/pro level- IQ and finishing/IQ and your specialty assuming up to this point you have had an ideal career and growth finishing would be the last thing you need to get down in order to complete yourself as a competent footballer the second part dubbed ''your specialty'' is for people who didnt follow this but is at the pro level its basically whatever skill you want to focus on the thing that makes you ''special'' eg:a defender instead of finishing could focus on 1v1 defense (this is not perfect as it is more suited to a striker but i do believe the first two are mandatory also when i say ''scouted'' it could be your local team school team or any team you have contact with and the coach decides to put you on the team protip for the last scenario of the ''anyteam contact'' make sure you have a good attitude and you need to insert yourself into training somehow whether thats by asking the coach which i dont really recommend or my preferred method of watching for a few days and interacting with the coach and team and join them in a few drills until you are able to integrate yourself into training and the coach hopefully sees potential in you a decides to put you on the team)
Does the backspin really matter that much? When I do a long ground pass , I just do the same technique as shooting it powerfully but the only difference is I drive my standing leg and hips a lot lower than usual and make the follow through short. Initially the ball is lifted up, but once it lands only forward spin.
Backspin helps to stop your passes overrunning and is also easier for your teammates to control. Forwardspin is useful for getting the ball to accelerate away from keepers on the bounce, but it's harder for your teammates to control forwardspin passes. This makes them more likely to go out of play, or bounce off your teammates to opposition players.
Don't know if I will get a reply but I thought I would try. I am really struggling to hit the ball with the laces. I just don't know how to do it. Can you PLEASE explain the "open hips, rotate ankle, hitting with the laces" part or how to hit the ball with the laces in general?
