  • This is such a beautiful example of early Honda!
With only 2,000 miles, this motorcycle still rides like it was new.
These old motorcycles are quickly disappearing and it really makes
me feel accomplished to get one running and back on the road.

Many half truths here: I owned a 1964 C105-T and it still had the rear fender flare. About the bigger tail-light lenses; they only came on the CT200 ( 97 cc pushrod engine, first Trail 90..) and later CT90~ CT110's. Whereas the Trail 50~55's and all of the C-100's, C50, S65, C110, C115; it was derived from, kept those smaller lights right up to 1968~69.
What is really rare is the first years of the 1959 through '61 C-100's had the smaller oval tail lights, and little Japanese legal turn indicators behind the upper shock mounts.
The sprocket is an overlay: you undo your chain, remove the bolts holding the big sprocket to the sprocket carrier spider and reuse them to bolt it over the top of the smaller sprocket. The big one fits exactly over the smaller sprocket, with little cutouts in it's inner hole, specifically for the spider bolts that fasten the big sprocket off to the inner side of the sprocket carrier. Don't lose the nuts in the dirt while you bolt and unbolt this.

That’s such a awesome bike and find! I’m jealous! Very little cleaning and let the bike speak for itself! 👍

Purple power works great then after the purple power scrub go back ober the entirr bike and do a regular wash with dish soap. I use 0000 steelwool on the chrome.

Working on my 1962 and could not figure out how to put the hi/lo switch back together! Any tips? I cleaned everything and the roller ball with spring is in but the square brass piece and the spring were impossible (for me) to hold in place when I put the circuit board with the 3 wires in.

Yes, we all have came to this troublesome task. I have found that just getting someone else to help me out works or if you do not have any friends (such as myself) try using the tiniest dab of super glue to hold stuff together. Just dont put it in the wrong places or use too much.

What battery did you go with? Mine is missing a key. Is the on position to the right or left on the keyswitch?

Try to buy a Honda factody manual on Ebay. Ebay will also have most oarts you are looking for. Please note, the replacement carburetors that you will see on ebay are for the larger engine of these bikes and will not fit properly on these smaller 55's. Stick with your original carb and just clean it really well.

@@MotorcyclesandArt Why do you share so much misinfo, The "larger engine" of this line is the CT200, and it's even harder to find parts for than these OHV 50~55's. For that matter, the first years of the OHC 89 cc bikes with the leading link front forks are also really really hard to get carb gaskets and the fuel tap seals for. The carbs you refer to were specifically meant for the Lifan OHC Honda clones. And will not work so great with these Hondas without some serious tuning and jetting.

Ebay. There is reproduction carbs available. The downside is, if I remember correctly, have to modifie the base of it to bolt to the smaller engine. It worked nicely.
