This is their biggest mistake; not having a morality system. It would be interesting to see the professors and students' reactions if you use the killing curse or any curse spells
I don't think so, if there was a morality system everyone ended up in Askaban, Glad there are none.
This was set a couple hundred years before the books which was 1990s. Morality is different then, to enforce such a system that you imply makes no sense
@@N.N.Pandey that would be fun. Trying to escape prison. They could have a cool down system like Gta
@@Hrathen39 only 100 or so years before harry potter lol, its set in the 1890s. And the curses were still unforgivable then
@@Hrathen39 exactly, when you roaming around hogsmade people were talking about they should send people to Askaban who is using unforgivable curse, so according to that dialogue I guess Ministry of magic didn't pass the law in which who ever use unforgivable curse is going to Askaban, so I guess that's the reason well anyway whatever the reason is, I enjoying the game so much I am Proud
Slytherin uses an unforgivable curse to save life, and I choice good part at the end too.
It somehow doesn't surprise me that Voldemort studied at this school.
Yep, and learnt about making horcruxes at a young age, did I forget to mention they have a forbidden section in their library 🤪 like the students already have guns, now they have (illegal) access to nukes.
Access to dark magic is like having access to dark web. You can do it in real life.
Hogwarts is pretty hardcore if you think about it. The grand staircase can literally just move on you and you fall to your death. They have trolls and giant dogs in the castle, there’s also the basilisk as well. Forbidden forest with dangerous creatures right next door and the castle sits on a lake with dangerous fish.
@@cytroyd no...dark magic is free
@@kuchikopi4631 i mean the strongest dark magic is basically just a slower gun
This is why Red Dead Redemption is so impressive to me. Everything you do gets a reaction from NPCs and influences your honor during the game. Hogwarts would've been the perfect environment for a similar honor system. Teachers could deduct points, be more strict, give privileges etc etc
You could take it even further, imagine that if you're a bastard from the start instead of working with fig you could align yourself with Black, instead of getting Deek in the room of requirement you get scrope, imagine loosing potential friends like Natti who don't want to be associated with shit people.
This game had so much potential, I had a great time with it but it was begging to be a fantastic experience.
it's the first one for the studio to make this type of game
They don't have the experience or know how of rockstar. They essentially had a lot of repairs to do throughout the making also which is why there was so many delays
It was a great game but it can be even better next time imo. Morality system needs to be introduced
Honestly this makes me more excited for a sequel.
HL is an amazing proof of concept, now if they took a deeper dive into customization and NPC interaction it could damn well be perfect.
Get the true points system, make classes actually have routines, give npc's routines, free form quests.. etc
Imagine if you wanted to obtain a special skill or armor set, but the only way to get it was to sneak into the restricted section of the library at night, unattached to a main quest. I would love being able to find notes and clues for the gear yet the game not explicitly letting you know that it's there kind of like the Arabian horse.
@@pilotsayshello1758 There's a reason why it takes Rockstar years to make such a game, tons of knowledge and permanent-crunch included. Also, there's no such thing as a perfect game. Even the best games have flaws.

Best comment yet 😅
Well actually it is not illegal to use Avada Kedabra and crucio, what is prohibited is using it on humans, but on beasts or animals it is "acceptable". The only way to use those curses and not go to Azkaban is if you are in a battle of life or death, in that type of situation you can use Avada Kadabra, but you cannot be the aggressor, that is the one who starts the conflict with those techniques because that is a direct pass to Azkaban, but as long as it is to defend your life, it is "acceptable", the reason why Avada Kadabra, crucio, and Imperio are illegal is because you really must mean it, feel it with all your being, with all your instinct, your hatred, the wish of kill someone or torturing them in the case of Crucio, because would not work otherwise.
The way it cut off at end was gold
Yesss..we can expect great things from you Tom.
This would be... insanely immersion-breaking. Use of avada-kedavra on the school grounds should be grounds for instant apprehension and expulsion. At the very least the nearby NPCs should be brandishing wands and going after you or fleeing.
Edit: I now understand that this was achieved with a mod, which makes much more sense.
It would have been Hilarious if they added GTA wanted star system. Just hide until stars wear out and you are free.
I would have to totally agree with you. Usage of the killing curse would be equivalent to using a gun to murder some random person on the street and begin a mass shooting

I was positive when I was going through the game that Fig was going to end up being a twist villain, considering he was the only one who wouldn't comment on you using unforgivable curses (either in cutscenes or during battles). Imagine my surprise when he went out a good guy.
You: literally kills a student
The professer: 10 points to slytherin
Random things I've realized:
- the unforgivable curses range from the Jedi mind trick, torture, and instant death (guess which one of those stands out)
- in theory and in the films, Reducto can most probably be fatal, plus there are other ways of causing death through other spells without the unforgivable curses (Bellatrix Lestrange's death comes to mind), yet those methods aren't deemed unforgivable.
You could use any of the spells in Harry Potter and achieve deadly results.
The thing is... Killing isn't the default way of using reducto. You can do many things with those spells that can have deadly result when used in specific way, but crucio, avada and imperius can do only one thing: cause harm snd sectusempra... It was Snapes little secret
The difference is that you can only cast them with the intent to cause harm. Trying to cast avada kedavra without wanting the other person dead won't work.
Which means that while with other spells you can argue in a court of law that your intent wasn't to kill only to disarm or neutralise - you cannot do the same for the unforgivable three. Your sole intent was to kill or hurt. It would be like admitting to attempted murder at the start of your trial in muggle terms.
@@ixyrt7096I think they are called unforgivable curses not because of the consequences but more because of the intent. You can kill someone with Reducto when you don't really mean to. But you can only kill someone with the killing curse if you are out to absolutely murder the hell out of them which is pretty messed up.
The difference between Reducto and Avada Kedavra is like the difference between a can of pepper spray and a loaded gun. You can probably kill a man with either if you put in enough effort, but pointing the pepper spray at someone still sends a different message than pointing a loaded gun at them.
the cut off at the end is amazing😂😂😂
"Now, I want a FAIR duel!"
*literally commits first degree murder* 🤣

And that was how Slytherin was the top house for many years before Potter showed up.
bro just yeeted her out of existence at the end lmao
The professor is like "Why I didn't see nothin..."
This is one thing about the game that I really don't like: the studio didn't think that far ahead and anticipate that players would do this, so they would need the characters to react and for there to be consequences accordingly.
The issue with this being a prequel aswell as the simplistic view of evil in harry potter, you can't have more than one dark lord who isn't voldemort popping up every once in awhile.
Using the curses should get you into allot of trouble and if you openly use it and mind control, torture or murder a fellow student l, teacher or village resident you should be expelled and sent to wizard jail as a game over.
A morality system should have been in the game where people will be terrified of you if they know that you are up to shady shit.
can't expect any game to be like Witcher 3 , that game really think of everything
@@delta2372 couldn't have said it better. I guess they could just add it in for fun. And make like a game over seen. But I don't know why people want this so badly.

10 points for slytherin after killing a student with a forbidden spell. That’s hilarious😂
That Avada Kedavra at the end though 😂😂😂
I loved how when in the book they introduced this 3 curse, they couldnt stop emphasising how evil they are. But when harry cast crucio on a death eater for badmouthing a teacher, and started bragging about bellatrix being right that the desire to torture someone makes the curse mutch more powerfull, mcgonagall was like: my my potter, what a naughty boy you are, now let me cast imperio on them
Edit: ik they were at war, but that only means harry is a war criminal, nothing else. The geneva convention for example strictly forbids actin inhumain to captives of war, and if you break it, you will be heavily punished for it, if you get caught. There are things so horrible, that they are strictly forbidden to do, even in a war. Brutal torture is one of those things. I dont mean this as a slander to harrys character, and im not sure wether the harry potter universe has a wizard version of the geneva convention or not, im just trying to point out, that the story is incredibly inconsistent about how unforgivable the unfogivable curses are, regarding that if you are a main character, noone gives an f about you casting it.
As you already mentioned Bellatrix pretty much laughs it off when Harry uses cruciatus on her because the intent needs to be there in order for it to work. You need the desire to inflict pain. And regarding Avada Kedavra you need to be quite powerful to cast it in the first place as stated by Bart Crouch Jr, and quite possibly also some intent is also necessary, but not sure about that. I think it is cool that they included the spells and that you can actually use them but you come across them rather easily since they are always just rewards for quests. And you can just use them as you please without any sort of repercussions. The worst thing you get is like a character saying something like: "I don't like it when you use dark magic". That's like a friend discovering that you killed and tortured people and saying: "Dude I kinda do not like that you do that, but whatever".
Well, they were in an actual war. Yeah shoot someone with a gun is bad, but shooting during a war to save someone from your side is something else entirely. Plus it wasn't even Avada Kedavra, but "just" Crucio.
@@stefanosormani8245 That is why I said that they would have to adjust the story accordingly or make some shit up. Because the way it is in the game currently does not make sense. I am not a game developer but I think if you want to make an immersive game you should make it logically conclusive in one way or the other. Also during the first wizarding war every curse was allowed to be used by aurors, not just cruciatus. But cruciatus is the worst one in my opinion anyway since it makes people beg for death and can drive them to insanity. Avada kedavra at least is painless and instant.
To be fair Mcgonagall never gave a flying fuck to begin with.
I mean you gotta look at the situation. Everybody was in a do or die mode with a war looming. They couldn't care less about using unforgivable curses.

When Nintendo developed BotW, Eiji Aonuma talked about how they programmed nearly everything in the world to react in various ways to actions that's happening in/around the object.
For example, NPCs would panic/cower when Link brings enemies near them, or act surprised/scared when he detonates a bomb in the vicinity, or when Link wears certain outfits the NPCs would either remark on it or act scared of Link.
This is what games like Hogwarts Legacy is missing and it takes away a lot of the immersion as a result.
Yeah, i have a funny clip on Botw where i started shooting bomb arrows on Kakariko and a boy begun to run around it, It was very funny
Agree, also the resting bitch face every NPC does after they're done with their dialog, also annoying.
You're greatly overstating the quality of those interactions in a greatly overrated game. All it amounts to is a canned animation and the npcs going "HUH?!" Or running away from Bokoblins.
@@kylekillgannon I dunno man I reckon it added a lot of immersion even though the animations weren't always very varied. It's no RDR2 with it's NPCs but the way they are in BOTW Is still much better than NPC's just staring into space while crazy shit goes down right next to them.
Going to the effort to program every creature, animal and person in hyrule to have little reactions to stuff like that sounds like quite a lot of work to me.
Also if it's as easy and ineffective as you make it sound then thats an even worse look for the harry potter game seeing as they didn't bother with that stuff at all in the first place apparently
@@dj-y7018 I think the point is that this game isn't trying to be a simulation. And my personal take is against BOTW which is a terribly mediocre game doing a lot of things I've seen done better elsewhere. It doesn't deserve any praise.

Funny! Though let's face it - no reaction from NPCs is due you not being able to obtain these spells so early in the game.
Even late into the game no one ever reacts to you using these spells. The best you get is a SINGLE line per companion whenever you are on one of their quests.
I think it's more likely due to the fact that it would be hugely complex to add actual consequences that make sense to using these spells. You're supposed to get into deep shit if you go around slinging em. Like, wizard gulag level shit.
Imo it's just lazy design, but you can't hope for the moon and expect to get it. It'd be nice, though. Maybe in a world where game development was filled with more passion.
