Correction. 14.5 Million Copies as of 2 days back I believe. Some statistic put it at 15.4 Million. I wouldn't be surprise if this hits 20 Million Copies in the next couple of weeks.

I wasn't aware of these controversies, I wasn't going to buy this game anyway, But I truly hate journalists who think they can dictate what others can say or do. A game company that rejects political correctness gets my vote. I'm going to buy this game right now.
I sincerely doubt that you will regret it. It's a truly fantastic experience. Game Science deserves all the praise, and I am glad they could rise over the attempts to make the title fail.
Ever bought a game based on some article in 40 years Old way was mom and pop game store, and electionics dept of general stores had open systems and open copies of every game they sold Mom and Pop stores were also doing buy backs and selling used games before what would become Gamestop ever Did and did game rentals before blockbuster, Netflix,and Redbox ever did. Eventually GameStop, Target,Walmart,etc were told not to display games and systems like that a b roll footage playing of game was broadcasted over TV screens with promo plugs (I just read the box which had good screen shots on box by then)

Black Myth is all the more impressive when you realize that it cost roughly $50 million to make in about five years while Concord cost Sony an estimated $100+ million over eight years. It makes me wonder whether the censorship, red tape and the dangers of moratoriums on publishing games in China are less of a burden on developers than megacorp mandates to pander to activists.
When there's less hangups to developing a game in a country with social credit scores than the good ol US of A you know something is --just a teency bit fishy-- truly effed. How do we get back to having solid western developed games? Well, I see some changes already being made for the better. By that I mean people are waking up and voting with their wallets. In the next few years we'll see more of this. Unfortunately, with long development times we'll also be seeing more garbage activist games coming down the pike too. But, if we hold strong and support devs that actually cater to us then at least by the time the PS6 rolls out we *could* (and should) see a return to normalcy.

To you even be able to have this information, you need to scrow the entire description of the game and maaaaaybe you will see the country of the developers, since this is the very last thing on the entire description. Most people will see a few screenshots, a trailer and that's it, and by the way, trailers are usually localized, so unless the company has a really shitty marketing team, what people will really see is, if the game seems fun or not. That's about it.
It seems that many people have forgotten why these articles to massacre the Game Science game. Sweet Baby demanded 8 million dollars from Game Science to get better reviews and a good rating for his future game but Game Science refused to pay. Hence the attacks in the review articles in order to force Game Science to pay for Sweet Baby's corruption. Many small companies before Game Science have also suffered this practice but they could not resist and disappear into the wild before even finishing their creation.
Consider this game been estimated to cost around 50 to 70 mil usd to made, thats like demanding more then 10% of the game's budget just to make your game worst. its better off of them to literally burn those 8mil with fire then to give those money to SBI.

I am the native Chinese and read the stories of Wukong in tons of versions since a child. What I can only say is the concept of the Wukong story is the most diverse one among all the Chinese literary masterpieces. You know what, Wukong is born from the stone which is used to fix the broken world.... the last stone which was left alone. love this game, glad to see that even among western gamers the shakedown rackets smear campaign flopped hard. Seriously though if you don't feel like you can handle the rapid reflex requiring gameplay, at least watch an abridged playthrough of it, the music, visuals and story cutscenes are incredible stuff. That aside, as someone whom has loved these types of games since ps3 era GoW; Black Myth Wukong plays as great as it looks.
They way I've been summing up the issue of "diversity" for folks. It's like this, if your game is diverse, you do not need to tell us, we will see it in game. If you did it just so you could put it in the marketing, that is the problem.

I love LMK! I watched a documentary of the process of making the line of Legos and the show. I can't be mad, because it is mainly marketed TO CHINA. Whether a person finds his/her home country agreeable or not depends on his/her own circumstances. Happy people and disillusioned ones exist at the same time, in the same places, and in the same sub communities however you define them. Black Myth is an incredible work of art. I can only imagine what ign would have to say about Witcher 3 today. I don’t love sexism- I’m a woman. But I don’t want men parading as faux feminists gatekeeping my video games based on absolute BS. It’s so infuriating.
Black myth Wukong is amazing. The game developers responsible deserve every lick of worship from game fans. I can only hope that they know how appreciated they are for bringing the world this game. Game science, hands down, deserves a game developer of the year award, and Black myth Wukong should be game of the year. Kudos to these amazing people.
the funniest part about toms article is that in chapter 3 is where you encounter the first female character in the game wich takes the form of a dragon and a human, aswell as the snake lady in a secret area of the game in chapter 4. in chapter 4 the entire chapter is based around a family of only female spiders that take the form of beautiful women to interract with the player. once again in chapter 5 do we encounter 2 more female characters. so clearly they spent 40 hours in the game and never made it to chapter 3 or chapter 4, i finished my first playthrough in 32 hours. no idea what they were doing for 40 hours in less than half the game.
The backlash, hiding from the public, and negative criticism's they wished to inflict on Gamescience (and lets be honest, they would be openly cheering and leading the charge to bury this dev studio if they had their way) is exactly what they received in backlash. I absolutely do not feel an iota of empathy, sympathy, nor pity for these "journalists". Be afraid, continue to hide, stay away from the industry because this will be brought up everytime they try to resurface, when you try to destroy peoples livelihoods using disingenuous tactics, then do not cry "victim" when it happens to you.
When I was military I went to Bahrain and some of their stores/restaurants had a sign posted that said "no dogs and no Americans". I dare you to go to China and complain about their game. Respect other cultures is all I'm saying.

"Diversity" in today propaganda is in fact: Americans point of view on the diversity in the world (in real: its their view of diversity in their own state which is globalist/mix of migrants from every part of the world). Not the real diversity in the world. Real diversity in the world is spread over big long swathes of land- villages, cities, states and countries. Very few of them living next to each other as citizens of one city/ country/ state. And ppl of those villages and cities have something that unites them. Not just a name. Culture, religion, traditions, ancestors, hardships endured.
Too bad, there isn't any for xbox because Microsoft's policy of forcing game devs to make all their games compatible with Xbox Series S . That console's hardware is so underpowered for such a graphically intensive game like Wukong

Maybe the IGN authors should have waited for the game to come out to claim that there are no female NPCs in the game, because there are several bosses who are clearly women. Albeit you could argue, that it is noticeable that the men have a wider variety of shapes and sizes while the women are either human looking or completely bestial in appearance. I think there are only two exeptions to this, two foxes.
Many people cannot tell the difference between China the country, Chinese the people, and CCP the government, let alone the nuanced difference in the political views in different sub-divisions of CCP. In fact many don't care. Some see this as a click bates and popularity game, some just simply doesnt have respect for the people in different culture and race. It is sad.

At this point, if you want to make a game of the year competitor, it's a great idea to make a game that annoys the mainstream, and also the crybabyinc crowd. It sounds petty, but when they try to gang up on a new game that's coming out, I always go to make sure I check it out, because everytime those goons dogpile a game, it turns out to be an utterly amazing must-have for a games library. It's a really thing as well, that every time a "games journalist" etc try to smear a game from the east, they always have the smug uppity face, it's like a character trait at this point. Also, really good video by the way! It's always refreshing to see an unbiased balanced take on situations in this industry, because god knows we really need you guys right now.

Ever bought a game based on some article in 40 years
Old way was mom and pop game store, and electionics dept of general stores had open systems and open copies of every game they sold
Mom and Pop stores were also doing buy backs and selling used games before what would become Gamestop ever Did and did game rentals before blockbuster, Netflix,and Redbox ever did.
Eventually GameStop, Target,Walmart,etc were told not to display games and systems like that a b roll footage playing of game was broadcasted over TV screens with promo plugs (I just read the box which had good screen shots on box by then)

Black Myth is all the more impressive when you realize that it cost roughly $50 million to make in about five years while Concord cost Sony an estimated $100+ million over eight years. It makes me wonder whether the censorship, red tape and the dangers of moratoriums on publishing games in China are less of a burden on developers than megacorp mandates to pander to activists.
When there's less hangups to developing a game in a country with social credit scores than the good ol US of A you know something is --just a teency bit fishy-- truly effed.
How do we get back to having solid western developed games? Well, I see some changes already being made for the better. By that I mean people are waking up and voting

It's even funnier. Games used to completely go against censorship and angry people on purpose. Sweet Baby demanded 8 million dollars from Game Science to get better reviews and a good rating for his future game but Game Science refused to pay.

Consider this game been estimated to cost around 50 to 70 mil usd to made, thats like demanding more then 10% of the game's budget just to make your game worst. its better off of them to literally burn those 8mil with fire then to give those money to SBI.

love this game, glad to see that even among western gamers the shakedown rackets smear campaign flopped hard. Seriously though if you don't feel like you can handle the rapid reflex requiring gameplay, at least watch an abridged playthrough of it, the music, visuals and story cutscenes are incredible stuff. That aside, as someone whom has loved these types of games since ps3 era GoW; Black Myth Wukong plays as great as it looks.

The best part about some of these articles is that none of the devs probably played past chapter 2 if they mention "no women".

the funniest part about toms article is that in chapter 3 is where you encounter the first female character in the game wich takes the form of a dragon and a human, aswell as the snake lady in a secret area of the game in chapter 4. in chapter 4 the entire chapter is based around a family of only female spiders that take the form of beautiful women to interract with the player. once again in chapter 5 do we encounter 2 more female characters. so clearly they spent 40 hours in the game and never made it to chapter 3 or chapter 4, i finished my first playthrough in 32 hours. no idea what they were doing for 40 hours in less than half the game.

Maybe the IGN authors should have waited for the game to come out to claim that there are no female NPCs in the game, because there are several bosses who are clearly women. Albeit you could argue, that it is noticeable that the men have a wider variety of shapes and sizes while the women are either human looking or completely bestial in appearance. I think there are only two exeptions to this, two foxes.

Many people cannot tell the difference between China the country, Chinese the people, and CCP the government, let alone the nuanced difference in the political views in different sub-divisions of CCP. At this point, if you want to make a game of the year competitor, it's a great idea to make a game that annoys the mainstream, and also the crybabyinc crowd. It sounds petty, but when they try to gang up on a new game that's coming out, I always go to make sure I check it out, because everytime those goons dogpile a game, it turns out to be an utterly amazing must-have for a games library.
It's a really thing as well, that every time a "games journalist" etc try to smear a game from the east, they always have the smug uppity face, it's like a character trait at this point. Also, really good video by the way! It's always refreshing to see an unbiased balanced take on situations in this industry, because god knows we really need you guys right now.
