    I make a lot of magnesium based products and love making lotion! I've never thought about making it extra strength before. I'll have to give this recipe a try. The tingling sensation means that your body is low in magnesium. This tingling will go away as your magnesium level is restored.

      You can also rub in a little olive oil on top which will take away the tingling and let the magnesium absorb slower

    i'm so glad you said something about not using the entire water phase with the mag. oil... I've done a 70/30 split of mag oil and water

    I was told by a Doctor that the Tingling feeling means it's being absorbed by the skin. This looks like something I would love to make with some other pain relieving butters and EOs to make a pain relieving powerhouse for myself.

    Be sure to use it on your shoulders and neck as well! I have similar arm pain and it comes from neck and shoulder tightness. Mg has helped in all of those places!

    Just out of curiosity, why did you make it double strength only to turn around and immediately dilute it? Didn't that make it a regular strength? You didn't give the measurements of the dilution.

    Arnica is wonderful in healing bruises, very decent anti inflammatory.
    Grape seed oil is not a good choice. I think you would be better with almond oil, and it's very well absorbed by the skin. Or I would choose coconut oil, along with shea butter, which is also great for the skin.

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  2 дні тому

      I chose grapeseed oil for this formula because it can help to nourish and moisturize skin, reduce inflammation, and protect against environmental stressors. Furthermore, grapeseed oil has been shown to have antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. almond oil and coconut oil have great properties as well. This formula does contain shea butter.

      @@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany I do love sharing information with friends and others searching for answers, and appreciate us sharing our ideas! Magnesium is desperately needed by our bodies, because of the environment, and what has been done to our soil and waters!
      About grape seed oil, I am not sure about its properties used in soap and how it effects skin; I do know its considered to be unhealthy when used for cooking as its molecules break down too easily under heat. If I don't wish to eat it, I considered perhaps there is a carry over property regarding cosmetic uses.
      At the moment I am planning to make my own formulation for magnesium butter, and I am grateful for your input regarding grape seed oil. I do love the smell of almond oil, and it makes my skin feel great! :) I also agree about the use of shea butter, but was thinking about the many formulae I have come across that combine it with coconut oil. (Probably they started combining them historically for skin and hair because they were often both easily available in hot climates.)
      Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, all the best. Len

    Want to leave this here......if magnisium is prickly or itchy it means you are extremely Magnesium deficient. I dont know why makers dont say that part.

      Because that's not actually true, sorry to say. Dermatologists say it is because of the pH of magnesium oil (brine) is not compatible for pH of skin.

  • @brightchange6065

    If you made the Mag Oil "regular strength", you could use it in direct replacement for water in any lotion/butter recipe without getting that burning - that's what I've seen everywhere. If you have to dilute the double strength with additional distilled water to make it work, it seems like you've reversed the purpose of using double-strength?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  3 місяці тому +2

      I have found magnesium oil as a direct replacement for water has two problems, it can make the emulsion break as the electrolytes are too high and it has a sticky, weird coating on the skin. This formula doesn’t seem to have that feeling and it doesn’t tingle. But it may tingle a bit on other people and that is also very normal with magnesium.

      Just a question, I'm confused that you made extra strength magnesium oil but then you added water , wouldn't that be the same as adding regular strength magnesium oil?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  8 місяців тому +1

      @@janicecohoon9674 Hi, making the magnesium double strength just gives the cream an overall higher percentage of magnesium. You can make the magnesium oil regular strength but then the actual amount of magnesium will be smaller in your finished product.

      Thank you! Magnesium oil is actually not an oil it is water and magnesium making it a water soluble product. So I’m not sure how this would work in a perfume you could formulate something with magnesium oil, fragrance, oil and polysorbate 80

    I joined your Patreon and tried to make this recipe but had trouble with it. I followed the instructions, exactly, and at first after blending the water and oil phases together it wasn’t really thickening much at all. I kept blending it after adding the preservative then it finally started thickening. After that though it quickly started doing something similar to ricing in CP soap where it’s got a funny sort of lumpy texture and oils floating on top. I was able to stir the oils back in but when letting it sit they would float back up. I don’t know what I did wrong. Any advice?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  8 місяців тому +1

      It sounds like you never got a stable emulsion. This can be tricky with magnesium oil. Make sure to blend very thoroughly and wait to add the cool down ingredients until the formula has thickened some and you have a good stable emulsion. Also make sure you are not exceeding the amount of magnesium oil listed in the formula as too much magnesium will break down the emulsion.

    I have read and heard people say that the reason why it may tingle is because you maybe lacking magnesium. The more you lack, the more it tingles. But will go away.
