How does the sailing/performance compare to the Excess 11? Also, did they change the main reefing so it's at the helm? Thanks!
Hello Chris, you still have the reefs at the mast, which is not necessarily a bad thing : the problem with the "automatic" reef that you take from the helm is chaffing and the difficulty to assess wether you have tightened the reef line and the halyard enough. In terms of performance the Nautitech 40 is a bit faster than the Excess11 because she is 3 feet longer. But the Excess, despite being 3 feet smaller, offers more room inside
Thank you. I am looking for something I can single-hand on occasion, and a catamaran around this size appeals to me. Despite the drawbacks to reefing lead aft, I think I'd prefer it when solo. But you are absolutely right about the chaffing and knowing if the lines are right!@@SAILTAHITI
