I was surprised to see how well it handled the 100° day. The truck was already cool from using the AC when driving, but it made it ten hours without becoming unbearable.
When I worked for Artur Express, I had a Volvo VNL 760 that had no EPU or APU. The Icey Breeze saved me money because I could use two bags of ice rather than idle all night.
Yes, I did. They work well but are large. They take up a lot of room in my freezers. I plan to do an updated video on the Icy Breeze in the next couple of weeks. I’ll try and use the plastic ice things.
Thanks for the info just ordered one for my sleeper they have promo code going on right now for the platinum $50 dollars off Are u still using it any update videos
I love product reviews! Especially helpful items like this, but I thought all Arter trucks came with a motorized APU? And those use about 0.5-1 gallon of fuel per 10 hour break which would be cheaper than 3 bags of ice per break? APU coveted under the Penske maintenance warranty?
There are trucks that do not have APUs. I was given a choice between a 2017 Freightliner with APU and a 2022 Volvo VNL 760 that didn’t have one. Summer doesn’t last forever. I chose the VNL.
@@MidlifeTrucker-ThomBell Gotcha. If you end up sticking with them I’m sure you can upgrade to a different/newer truck with a APU at a later date. Hopefully it at least has a Espar heater!
@@cotjocky466 It does have a heater. An APU uses between .2 gallons and .5 gallons per hour. That’s better than the 1 gallon per hour for idling. I am on the list for a new VNL, but I’m good with this one for now.
Nice review. What are your thoughts on the future of trucking? In regards to automation and self driving trucking etc? I feel like you're someone who would have some good, well thought out ideas on it. Essentially my main question would be if someone was wanting a career for up to 25 years from now what do you think that looks like?
There will be autonomous trucks. At first there will be a few, then a hundred, then a thousand, etc. They will have a lot to overcome to replace truck drivers. There’s the fear from the suburban house moms, the ignorance or truck drivers who think we will all be out of work next week, and general acceptance. Autonomous trucks will enhance truck driving, just like the automated transmission, digital mirrors, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist.
@@MidlifeTrucker-ThomBell do you think there will still be a full career for someone looking to get into trucking now that wants something for 20-25 years?
@@brandonb7120 Absolutely. The trucking industry is going to evolve not disappear. Eventually, long haul OTR will be done by autonomous trucks but we are talking 25-30 years from now. Those drivers will move to regional and local, meaning more time at home in their own beds.
Bought this and it is a cool concept but it LEAKS everywhere and has holes in the plastic. (Not from the cover not being closed. I would not recommend just based on this. They also said on their website they don't accept damaged returns. (Even though this is their fault)
I like the platinum because the extreme cool features where it pumps the heat exchanger faster.
Thanks for the great video!
Glad it helped
Thank you for the in-depth review! I'm definitely getting one.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome review! I have an enclosed trailer I take camping, my wife doesn’t let tents lol. Definitely going to try it in the trailer.

Nice review I’m just looking for something during 10hr breaks overnight definitely gonna look into getting one

Hello, by chance do you know how many decibels at its lowest setting?
Did you ever try the plastic things instead of ice? If so how was it?

Did it cool down the sleeper area tho. I’ll be using it in my suv while camping. I’ll be using frozen 1 gallon water bottles instead of ice bags
Yes, it cools the sleeper area. It was most effective when I used the truck’s AC to cool the space then used the Icy Breeze to keep it cold.
@@MidlifeTrucker-ThomBell good to know thanks brother. Drive safe.

I have a truck with an EPU now, but I still use the Icy Breeze sometimes at home, even poolside.
I can't sleep with the engine running. I needed something to help on hot nights.
Pro Tip - When its really hot, stick the hose under your covers down by your foot. The whole bed will be nice and cold.
How did you like the plastic ice forms?
I wish they were a little bit smaller.
I run one in my no AC dump truck. I freeze two one gallon milk jugs and I get about eight hours out of them with pretty much steady 45 degrees output.
I need to do another review. I have plastic bottles to freeze now.
Thank you for the review
Thanks for watching

@@cotjocky466 - I’ve also bought three of the $15 plastic water bottles. I have an AlpiCool freezer. I’m going to try and use them instead of ice.
What was the temp coming out after 10hr?
Great review by the way!!!
As long as there is still ice it does fine. Once the ice melts, it will just be cool not cold.

Your link is broken
Apparently it only works the first time you go, after that it just takes you to the site. It’s okay, I’m not in it for the referrals.
You add salt to make the water colder than 32 F
That’s a good tip.
@SG The salt gets added to the bottles that get frozen. They have a screw top lid.

I did have that problem. Mine holds the water well.
Have you used dry ice?
No, since it uses water going through the heat exchanger, that didn’t seem like a good idea.
