Top 10 Films that got big through word of mouth
I would say ted staring seth macfarlane as the talking teddy bear
Zombieland YES Warm Bodies is good, too.✌😸
@@arielfangirlmendez EXACTLY! That's what I was thinking the Polar opposite of Paddington. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking it
"If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball" That line will NEVER get old.
What?????
AGREED!
Love this movie. Rewatched it last year and use to have the dvd
20- Dodgeball: A true underdog story

2- Jumanji : welcome to the jungle
1- Napoleon dynamite
Uhh… I think you mean Girls Trip? 😁
@@twist58 ya, I didn't want to edit so😅
Bridesmaid is unfunny cringe
Yikes. Mean Girls should be #1
@@BurningRubber454 ya it was good for 10 years ago
I feel like "Harold and Kumar" also reignited the publics interest in Niel Patrick Harris and helped revitalize his TV career since he was on "How I Met Your Mother" like a year later playing a _very_ similar character.
I coincidentally was telling that to my fiancé the other day.
Harris playing himself as a ladies' man when he's actually gay and has a husband! How ironic.
How did The Hangover, Old School, Superbad & Zoolander not make this list? Step Brothers & The Ballad of Ricky Bobby are strong contenders too. 🤦🏽♀️
Absolutely. A bit surprised they Superbad wasn’t on there.
Right and hot tub time machine made the list. But maybe it’s bc we knew those were gonna be great
Because people expected most of those to be pretty good.
I loved The Hangover and Superbad
What about "Twins" and "Dumb and Dumber"?
"detested by critics but adored by many"
exactly why I stopped listening to critics when choosing my movies (they have disliked most of the movies I liked)
I listen to critics but I also make sure to look at the audience review as well to average. Critics do get verry picky true but making sure to average in the audience factor usually give me a clue if ill like it.
Cough cough Eternals. Literally dragged it through the mud when I had like one or two major criticisms (the pacing (though id keep every scene just in a different order or speed) and the way it focused on the two most unlikeable and boring Characters (ikaris and Sersi) and the other more bland charecters getting spotlights (Sprite, Ajak, and Kingo))
Top 10 Movie Franchises That Haven’t Lost Their Touch.
Mission Impossible is at the top of that list considering how many movies in the franchise and it keeps getting better
That would be awesome!!
Definitely not Fast and Furious
James bond
To hard
21 Jump street was surprisingly hilarious 😆
22 Jump Street had the single biggest sustained laugh I have ever experienced in a movie theatre. It was something like two minutes before I could start to hear the movie dialogue again over the audience reaction.
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is a movie my dad had back in the mid-2000s and I was never interested in watching until a few weeks ago now that I'm 20. Best decision I've made.
Your dad is cooler than my dad.
@@j.h.6081 He's a pretty careless dad who only recently came to the picture (for my younger brothers) after like 12 years. But he's alright now.
Harold and Kumar is a great stoner comedy! I once met its director Danny Leiner (of comedy Dude Where’s My Car?) in person and even had a brief conversation with him when he visited my college campus as part of an assembly for aspiring filmmakers.
Your comment makes me feel old.
@@discwiz16 How old are you?
They should do a sequel to Bridesmaids that involves her friends competing over throwing her a baby shower. 🤣
They should do a sequel and then immediately throw it directly in the trash.
Bridesmaid is unfunny cringe
That film needs a crossover with step brothers
@@BonyHawksToeSkater Meh, I said what I said. 🤣
@@AA-dy3qw I wouldn’t watch it. And Step Brothers is one of my favorite comedies of all time.
Mean Girls is a timeless teen comedy classic
Step brothers, pineapple express, napoleon dynamite, you don't mess with the zohan, superbad and meet the parents/fockers were comedic gold to me.
Pineapple Express omfg. I will never get tired of watching that shit.
I love watching Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, We're the Millers, Game Night, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Zombieland.
Great List!
Some of my all time favorite comedies. Especially:
Dodgeball, Hot Tub Time Machine, 40 Year Old Virgin, and 21 Jump Street
But the definition of a comedy that was better than expected would have to be Walk Hard. Very few movies have made me laugh that hard. Absolute comedy gold from an actor known for serious roles. Completely unexpected and drop dead hilarious
21 and 22 Jump street are so good!
I agree with most of these… 2 you’re missing is Hangover and Bad Moms
I think it’s a crime The Hangover never made the cut. Terrible move.
@@twist58 I think everyone expected hangover to be funny though.
Hangover didn’t make it bc it wasn’t funny in the least.
@@nicholasbeltran2795 Wrong it was definitely a surprise hit
@@nicholasbeltran2795 nah it did bad with critics but good with the audience.
Grandma's Boy is so great! Loved it back in 07
“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!!” Love that movie!!!
I definitely recommend Game Night. A hidden gem
"I think I'd like to try me some of that cocaine!" Alright I'm gonna buy the Dewy Cox movie now...that line sold it for me.
I ain’t go lie Fam that’s a funny ass movie fam
hilarious movie
"We can't attach the lower half of the body to the upper half of the body "
"speak english doc we ain't scientists"
Not just another teen movie had me on the floor.
20 of mine: Accepted, Top Five, The Intern, Roll Bounce, Two Night Stand, This is Where I Leave You, Pitch Perfect, The Rundown, Ted, Easy A, Find Me Guilty, Everybody Wants Some!!, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Stranger Than Fiction, Wimbledon, The Nice Guys, Click, Be Kind Rewind, The Invention of Lying, The Wackness
Particularly agree with _The Rundown_ and _Easy A._ I didn't find _The Invention of Lying_ especially funny (which is not to say that I didn't enjoy it), but it had a very interesting premise and deserved more attention than it gets.
@@viddork That's why it (and others on my list) are better than expected. Some are funnier than others, but they offer more than just being the run of the mill comedy.
Tucker and Dale is a classic!! Dodgeball is sooo good, and lives forever.
Grandmas boy, to this day, is still my all time favourite movie!!!
YES!
I remember watching Napoleon Dynamite in theaters for my 1st date as a freshman in high school 😆 It just happened to be the next movie playing and we were like, “let’s give this a shot.”
A couple of movies that were funnier than I expected were "Crazy, Stupid, Love", "I, Tonya", and "The Nice Guys". They're not as laugh-out-loud hilarious as the other movies on this list but they're not as melodramatic/ romantic (for "Crazy, Stupid, Love"), and dramatic (for "I, Tonya" and "The Nice Guys") as you'd expect.
I’m a simple man. I saw 21 jump street as the thumbnail and I clicked
Not amazing, but Vacation (2015) blew away my expectations, which were extremely low.
I freaking love tucker and dale it’s my favorite horror comedy! If you have never seen it then you need to!!!
Thanks for reminding me to rewatch Elf this year.
This video made me nostalgic because I remember being in high school in 2004 and remember all of the comedies from that year. I remember Napoleon Dynamite merchandise. Dodgeball is one of my top 3 favorite movies(other two being anchorman and goodfellas.
Game Night and We're the Millers was the most surprising.
Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER in charge of their cinematic universe
They can save it from AVI ARAD
MOST AGREEABLE LIST EVER! 💯
Bridesmaids and Girls Trip tie in terms of an all-female comedic cast and both have a scene-stealing performer in the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish respectively! They owned their films easy!
(19:39) Uhh… “a brother and sister get sucked into a board game?” No, the supernatural elements came to their world. And it was only Alan who was sucked in there.
Top 10 comedy movies that failed to meet high expectations: Young Adult, Rules of Attraction, Clue, Extract, Career Opportunities, The Paper
The Paper? Michael Keaton The Paper? That was good.
Rules of Attraction was meant to be a comedy? Even if they were trying for a dark comedy they still failed epically because most of it’s content is not funny.
This is the end has to be in that list just because of how hyped it was and I still think it’s overrated
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom yes it’s one of my favorite movies but it didn’t make a lot of money or get any huge awards despite it’s brilliant plot and all-star cast , it went on to barely become a cult classic.
I was hoping for tropic thunder and/or the other guys.
But still an great list
🍻
Right? Tropic Thunder was incredible and I had ZERO expectations. Thought it was gonna be dumb as hell.
My nephew loved Dodgeball. My sister used to let him watch it when he was 4. He watched it every day for a few months. I honestly only liked a few movies on this list. I don't like raunchy comedies.
Blockers, We're the millers and 40year old virgen are very underrated and really funny.
Honorable Mentions:
- Ted / Ted 2
- Alexander's terrible...no good very bad day
- Friday
In the original Jumanji only Robin Williams character was sucked into the game. Bonnie Hunt's character never played cause she was so scared after seeing what had happened. (They were friends, not siblings.) A pair of siblings find the board game many years later and continue the game Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt had started. It all took place in the real world. Things from the game came out. NO BROTHER OR SISTER HAD BEEN SUCKED INTO THE GAME
You're thinking of Bonnie Hunt's character, Sarah. Kirsten Dunst was Judy. It was her & her brother Peter who found the game & continued it, releasing Alan.
Think that's the part where they're getting brother & sister confused.
@@kerrinbrittain4393 Oh u are correct. Let me change that. thanks
Napoleon dynamite #1
Super bad #2
Dumb and dumber #3

I love Dodgeball! There are some very funny moments. I didn't see Galaxy Quest on the list so I'm assuming it was expected to do well, although I would bet it was much funnier than even expected. I'm so happy that Jumanji was on the list, and so near the top. I was one of those critics that thought it could never be done better than Robin Williams! I was wrong! The story was really brilliant and the casting just made it better! The first and second new versions were both great. I can't wait to see how they work the next one!
Hey this was great. Now I have few movies to find. The Bridesmaids was totally hilarious. Thanks 👍
I worked at a movie theater when Hot Rod came out, and I thought it'd be really stupid in a bad way. But when I saw it I was pleasantly surprised that it was really stupid in the best way. I got to see it for free so I saw it like 5 times while it was in theaters. I'm not sure if this movie is even listed here but it's my best example for being unexpectedly funny. There's such a fine line between being stupid stupid and stupid funny, and so many movies have good intentions but fall short. I'm so happy when movies actually get it right.
Grandma's Boy would be top 5 for me. Absolutely love that movie. So underrated.
I would've also included Fired Up!
I never Watched Some of the Films Before But Great Top 20 Video, Watchmojo
We’re the Millers is one of my favorite comedy movies of all time and so are the Jump Street movies
I have seen “girls trip”, but I really can’t recall even one single scene of this movie 🙄😂
I literally just rewatched 21 jump street zombieland today and then this video popped up first in my UA-cam recommendations
Two movies that should be on this list.
Joe Dirt
Undercover Brother
If you want to be technical, Harold & Kumar had two sequels- Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay & A Very Merry Harold & Kumar Christmas.
in 3D!
Serial Mom anyone? Best comedy ever made.
Great list guys! I do not agree with all of the picks, but those I agree with are great while all of them are memorable
Dude, where's my car
Road trip
Old school
Wet hot American summer
Step brothers
Role models
Bad neighbours
Blades of glory
All deserved a shout
I’ll always remember one hilarious scene from Hot tub Time Machine with Craig Robinson as the barista and he’s talking to his friend and there was this impatient white customer
Customer *annoyed* - “ Can I get a coffee, Black?”
Craig- “ Can’t you see we talking, White??” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Spy and Horrible Bosses would have made my list.
Still need to watch Spy, but I LOVED Horrible Bosses
@@jamiethepug35 _Spy_ was a disappointment to me. I went to see how Jason Statham would handle outright comedy, but they gave him far too little to do. Too much Melissa McCarthy being insufferably tedious, as she always is.
No Super Troopers? Come on that was a very funny movie
21 jump street is classic
Eurotrip needs to be on the list.
Good list. I would add Eurotrip.
Is that a hot tub time machine? Awww yes it is
They were all great!
“Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston have been in their share of terrible films.”
Jesus 😂😂
I was disappointed that there was no mention of Will Poulter's phenomenal comedy work in that film.
Top 20!!...21jump street tops everything
I love We’re The Millers 🤣
I feel like Swingers should have made this list. It launched the careers of Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, without it you don't get Dodgeball which shouldn't even be on this list because it WAS expected to be very good.
The fact that I haven’t heard of (n)or seen half of the movies on this list tells you a lot about my excellent taste when it comes to movies worth wasting time and money for 😊

I LOVE Grandma's Boy! 💗
There's No?
"Oh God!! Please don't let the Invisible Fire Kill my Friend!"
“Dude your beds a car.”
“Yea, but it’s a fucking sweet car. I’m thinking about getting a CB so I can talk to other car beds.”
Never understood why people love Napoleon Dynamite :/
It's a classic its way better than any comedy you ever watched
The Other Guys should've been on here I had no idea it was gonna be so funny that my sides were hurting by the end of it and it's one of those movies that me & the boys will quote to this day
Proud to say GRANDMA'S BOY has been in my google movie list for a long time
This list should Top 20 Underrated Movies
Dodgeball was great start to finish. Don't know how anyone wouldn't like it
Who the hell didnt like Grandma's Boy ?
Best comedy for me is "Kingpin". Was excellent! Must be on this list.
Yo, I'm still waiting for that "Every Sonic Show Ranked" video
Add Thor: Ragnarok. This shit was funny af and no one was expecting that. Good one from Taika.
Can you please also tell which platform each of these movies are available...

13:23 I want that Peter Pilotto dress Tiffany Haddish is wearing in this scene so bad! 😍
Hot tub time machine is a comedy Masterpiece.... I love it
Surprised What We Do in the Shadows wasn't on their. I thought it looked terrible back in 2013 then revisiting it years later I realized it was one of the best comedies of the 2010s. Maybe 3 horror comedies was too many for one list.
* there *
Not Seeing VACATION...Truly Surprised Me
Elf is THE best Christmas movie for all ages. I love Will Ferrell he's a phenomenal actor.
I think "chips" is decent
I'm surprised The Hangover or American Pie didn't make the list
I actually did see Jumanji the first movie with my mom fairly recently within the last year and so the second and third movies were on my radar
Elf should be so much higher up on that list!!
Game night is another one that's on my radar
Hangover?
I freaking LOVE Grandmas Boy. Still quote it to this day!
yr bed is a car? "ya but its a sweet car!" hahaha
In Jumanji the brother and sister didn't get sucked into the game, they played the game. Alan Parr got sucked in.
how does Superbad not make this list?
Where was “dude where’s my car?”/Hangover/Eurotrip/Dirty Grandpa??
I feel like "Waiting" should've been on here.
I like the JUMP STREET movies and JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE and I love ELF!
I actually did see Paddington and Paddington 2 trailer on TV
