  • THIS PLACE IS RIDICULOUS... BUT WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM! (winter van life UK - Wales)
    We absolutely Love our outdoor gear from revolution race! With all the hiking and nature photography that we do it's so important to have good quality clothing. Try them out for yourself here bit.ly/CAMPERV... and use code CAMPERVIBE15 to get 15% off (valid 30/01/22 - 03/02/22 UK and IE only)
    This week we are back out exploring together, and our self converted campervan has bought us to Wales! Specifically the Brecon Beacons and the scenery is stunning to say the least!
    However, for digital nomads, who work on the road, there's one huge van life problem for us here!
    Join us as we explore Wales, have an amazing drive, visit some waterfalls and go on a particularly hilly hike which Lou inevitably moans about!
    Will we like van life in wales? will the rain get to us? can you get away with wild camping in wales? and will we see any of their famous sheep, surprisingly Emilys favourite Animal!
    Hopefully you are enjoying this UK travel series as much as we are and we are managing to show you just some of the stunning landscapes that Wales has to offer in this welsh travel vlog.
    As usual, we have tried to include a bit of everything, some cinematic scenery mixed with our usual female van life foolery, we always love hearing what you lot think in the comments so do let us know, and as always, thank you for watching!
    Follow us on our journey as we attempt to create a proper youtube travel series as we, two female travelers and vanlifers, attempt to travel across Europe in our rolling tiny home.
    Hit the subscribe button to see where our DIY campervan takes us next and how this van life couple copes living in a van!

    and just leave your name and full address in the notes, just click add note.
    If paypal confuses you (as it does me, Lou) then follow the below instructions;
    Use your name as the reference then, email

    with the same name as your reference of payment and full address.
    The stickers will then be shipped out, thanks again for your support :-)

    As a Welsh man i can honestly say the tail is left on so we have something to clean ourselves with once we have finished. Another interesting fact you will see that some sheep have been spray painted with markings, they are the one's who are not virgins and the paint is to indicate to the farmer that they are the one's to be exported to England for the English to eat. Not many people know that !

    You will probably regret the sheep question after learning the reason for long/short tails. Lowland sheep live on lush pastures that can have unfortunate consequences for the digestive system, resulting in some rather messy backsides. A certain kind of fly delights in laying eggs in the soiled wool. Maggots result and literally eat the poor sheep alive. Removing the tail makes less real estate for the maggots to hide and less area to become messy. In theory, the flies are less active at higher altitudes,
    the quality of grass is poorer and less likely to cause stomach upsets, and the tails provide protection from the atrocious welsh wind and rain. You did ask!

    We say that about English!! Haha! TANTRUM ALERT!! 90% of the English names for places in Wales are Anglicised versions of the Welsh name but a lot of Welsh placenames are getting replaced by English names that have no relation to the original Welsh near me there is a lake called Llyn Bochlwyd meaning Lake of the White Cheek Stage which tells the tale of the Giant Stage with white checks that was chased by hunters and dove to the lake for safety, but someone has decided because they can't be bothered to learn the name they call it Lake Australia just because it shaped like Australia which it doesn't!! TANTRUM OVER! I'm very protective of my native language! LOVE YOUR VIDS AS ALWAYS!

    One factor for why your mobile signal is better in Europe is that when you are roaming, you can use any network your home network has a roaming agreement with (often all of them).
    Also mobile masts are allowed to be taller in most non-UK countries. The height of the mast makes a big difference, not just because line of site is further.
    It makes a difference at both ends. I have a 4G antenna on my van roof. It's attached to a pole that used to have a TV aerial (which I removed). The mast can be slid up so it's about four feet above the roof: that makes a big difference when the signal is a bit iffy, but even when down it is vastly better than having the mifi inside the van.

    Thank you girls for this great tour in Wales. I adored it when I went. The lake reminded me very much of lake Vyrnwy. The language is similar to old Breton. Even in the 80s some folks in Brittany did not speak French at all, but only their own language.

    If you are both with the same mobile provider you should consider one of you being with say Vodafone and the other on say Three doubles your chance of getting a signal, where one doesn't cover the other will. There will still be the odd occasion where you will have no signal but may not be as often. Love you and your vlogs.

    Hello, lovely girls, thank you for showing us here in Australia, some of Wales. Can I say that we are very proud of your common sense? My husband is an Australian semi driver and he is essential-food- so he has, in his 40 odd years, driven through fires, floods, major accidents etc. You did not have to show how big your appendages are and knew that you were not prepared for a snow-in. People in Australia have died in their vehicles in the heat and in the snow. You have nothing to prove. You are both intrepid explorers who take care of yourselves and your four legged children. Love the video and thank you for bringing us such brilliant content. Take care, girls. Cheers

    We feel your pain with mobile phone coverage in Wales. Here at home on Anglesey, on a good day we might have 1 bar of 3G. To get anything more we have to walk up the hill - then we'll get some 4G and also a wonderful view of Snowdonia! 😊 Hopefully the mobile phone providers will realise there's a world outside London and the SE of England 😉
    I'm learning to speak Welsh (dwi'n dysgu siarad Cymraeg) and, once you understand the additional letters in the alphabet and how to pronounce them, it gets a lot easier. And many of the Welsh place names have lovely meanings - give it a go. Even a simple "Bore Da' (good morning) or 'Diolch' (thanks) will go a long way. Hope to see you return after the van refit. 😊

    The reason the Welsh sheep have long tails is they have evolved to run a lot faster and now the farmers can't catch them to put the bands on🤣 ok stopping now I was just feeling brave because the wife's out 😋

    So I don’t know if others have said it but the tails on the sheep, it’s a so called humane thing. These guys have kept the tails. The British farmers think attaching a number elastic bands tightening to the point of stopping the blood flow. And in a couple of weeks of the blood flow being stopped by strangling the tail, they fall off! And the Welsh think let’s not do that. But there is more chance of infection to the tails.

    I know its an older vid but for those interested it's no longer known as the Brecon Beacons, it's now known as "Bannau Brycheiniog" pronounced....Ban-eye Bruck-ein-iog, I'm English but live in the national park and still can't pronounce it 😂

  • @Soggybudgie
    @Soggybudgie 2 роки тому

    As a retired Englander learning Welsh, I can say that it's a far more phonetic language than English. Once you've sussed out the system, it's constant. Compare the English variety: Thorough, through, rough, etc. For example, if you see '...oedd' at the end of a word, you'll know it's always 'oyth' (soft th as in 'the'), whatever the rest of the word is. In my experience, as a learner, if I learn how to say a word, I can work out how it's spelled. If I'm lazy, then I stuffed!

    KUDOS for another great share and video! LOL at Emily's snack cupboards and short trousers! Never enough pockets for me, and have a hard time finding 28" inseams too! Maybe part of van upgrade would be directional wifi antenna, or in conjunction with a Weboost type device for better signal? Same issues this side of the pond, cities are OK, but away, then little to none in less populated places. Seem the EU may be better at signal coverage than both of us.... All the BEST and Cheers!
