Aaaah my childhood. I no-lifed GW for many years of my youth. Good times. Getting lv20 in presearing by deathleveling and the incorrigible ale-hound before they changed it from minutes to points is still my lifes greatest gaming achievements
Hello! Thank you for the comment! Yes, the game is amazing! I'm currently re-playing Prophecies here on YT as part of my livestream routine. Hope to resume that this coming Friday! Funny you mention LDOA achievement, I'm actually working on it on one of my characters. I think I'm level 10 right now. They did change death leveling, but I still hate that damn gate you have to open every time you want to reset the map beyond the Wall. Even though they increased the time of the gate remaining open, It's still so annoying doing it solo! Wish one of those NPC guards would actually prove being useful and open gates for us. Oh well... I do love pre-searing though, there is something magical yet so... cozy, down-to-earth and wholesome about it! My fav campaign is definitely Nightfall because spinning Dervishes go WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE xD
That was the greatest MMO of all time! Especialy cause it wasn't about gear. Everybody was wearing practicaly similar gear at lvl 20. Which was max level. Easily achieved early on. Unfortunately today there is not enough players on. ArenaNet killed it for no reason i think.
Not as many players, but the game has dedicated communities to this day. Some guilds are still actively recruiting and from what i recall, there’s still competition for the outposts among the guilds in Cantha. It’s not as populated as it used to be, but still. I really with Anet somehow brought the attention of the masses back to it bc it’s a fantastic title. Thank you for the comments!
OMG the nostalgia, pre searing finally taming a black bear as pet after 2 hours of trying. playing all campaigns, and then in the end 24/7 speedclearing
Yeah, there’s something in the music of it 😂😂😂 im currently stuck on one mission where you race White Mantle in capturing portals or beacons or whatever. It’s kinda hard to solo bc it was clearly meant for a team of players. Thank you for the comment, I much appreciate it!
I’m usually picky over visuals, but with GW1 never had such an issue. Smth about its visuals actually makes me love the game even more. Even though i can only imagine how it would look on UE5 (probably would look gorgeous), for example, i feel like ultra-realistic graphics would only make the game lose some of its identity. Thank you for the comment!
Awww, I’m glad I (and YT) made someone happy today. This makes my day! Thank you for a lovely comment! It is indeed one of the best games ever made, and I’m personally super sad GW2 is losing that uniqueness GW1 had built up & is steadily turning into a discount clown galore with the gemstore costumes that do not fit in the world of Tyria
Great to hear! This game is so freaking good! Thank you for the comment! I appreciate it! I hope weather cooperates tonight (I'm under tornado watch/warning today), so I can possibly livestream my Ascalonian adventures tonight! 😀
Played GW2 since 2015, and got GW1 Trilogy recently, and it feels like completely different game, not just the one previous in the series. Combat feels more tactical and even strategic, and overall lore and world vibes feels more serious and mature by my opinion. I actually enjoy both GW1 and 2, but GW1 is the one i'm playing right now, especially after so many years spent in sequel, not just going through world's activities. P.S. - Community isn't that large as in GW2, yet it's a real gem of the GW1.
Hello! Thank you for the comment! Yes, GW1 community is small, but super dedicated and active! Super nice too from my experience. GW1 will def punish you for being rash in combat, and despite being outdated, it’s quite enjoyable! GW1 also has a special vibe about it that makes it unique whilst GW2 lacks that. I hope you keep enjoying GW1, it’s a fantastic game! I light get back into it after i’m done with RDR2 and IFR games.
I still occasionally log into this game and every time i get so surprised by how many people are still in the game. Even in pre-searing i occasionally get put into D2. Absolutely amazing game and i wish GW2 kept the henchmen/heroes system
Alas, only a few hubs are populated these days. Pre-Searing has a decent size community. Also, starter city in Nightfall is ALWAYS full as well Kaineng is often fairly populated. And ofc Eye of the North has a few players hanging out, generally. Also, contests over hubs in Jade Sea still happens. Otherwise it’s seldom to come across anyone in other hubs. That’s sad that Anet doesn’t do much to encourage ppl to play both GW 1 & 2 by doing some sort of events or smth - play these missions in GW1 for rewards in GW2 & vice versa. It would bolster communities in both games. GW2 should’ve kept a lot more from GW1 & should’ve done more references & connections to GW1 events, lore & characters. They did try conveying atmosphere & vibe of GW1 & pre-searing ascalon wth Grothmar Valley in IBS that felt the most genuine effort. Prolly why I like that season the most. Other GW2 content set in GW1 areas come a bit cheesy nostalgia-bait. Even then, EoD didn’t do any justice to being set in Cantha. New Kaineng is a horrible map taking away everything that was unique about Factions & EoD story was absolute travesty. Thank you for the comment! Always appreciate viewers’ feedback & opinions.
Honestly, it broke my heart when they nerfed the 600 smiter duo builds.. I absolutely loved levelling then later using my own npc hero's in a discord team or with friends. So many hours enjoyed in that game, I would love to go back and do another fissure of woe clear using a barrage pet team but they nerfed that as well. Maybe it's nostalgia but I don't think I'll ever play a game where each element, music, ambience, mood, gameplay and storytelling were so good. That includes GW2 which just doesn't live up to GW1.
To be honest, I don't think ANet has a good or clear idea how to balance their games. Main reason I don't PvP or WvW a lot in GW2 is because they keep wrecking Necro class to a point where I ask myself, why bother?! As for GW1, I agree that a lot of elements came together that made this game a timeless classic. And the reason why GW2 is not living up to GW1 is because GW1 was actually unique while GW2 (aside from being mainly PvP focused and having guild vs guild stuff) is following a modern template of an MMO and loses its identity that made its predecessor awesome. Also, GW1 was a product of passion, GW2 is a product of pure commerce. GW2 doesn't even explain (I don't think) why it's named that way, and I bet many who haven't played the original game won't be able to tell you the origins of the title itself. Thank you for the comment!
@@ShadowsCozyInn its a pity, if only I could revert some of the skill changed they implemented I'd be back in a shot. I remember logging on the day after the 600 smite team was nerfed and the game had emptied out, they literally killed their own game for a lot of people which in hindsight was probably to sway people to play GW2 but in honesty it just felt obnoxious. The game wasn't in active development and there was no harm in leaving the classes as they were. Perhaps maybe one day we might get the game file to mod and change so that the skills can be reversed but I doubt it.
Oh man you are not the only one. I was pretty hotly pissed off it losing that Smiter as she was in my game. They had spell theories that I don't think I've ever seen repeated very well. Always wished Skyrim would pick up fully on it but Apocalypse and Ordinator did everything to help that and that helped the game very much.
Thank you for the comment! It's a good idea, and probably GW2 either should have been structured like GW1, be some sort of at-whim co-op or indeed be a single-player game. Technically, if you play GW1 alone with npc heroes/mercs, it is a single player game, it just requires internet connection. But I agree, I wish GW2 wasn't an MMO, especially considering its current state of writing and absolute obsession with gem store.
I just came back to the game in 2022 to play eotn which I didn't play back in the days. I created a new account so I started from scratch. It has been amazing. There are so many things to do. I already did runs and farms but I discovered speed clears and doa and dungeons ...
Hi! Thank you for the comment! It's pretty amazing how a game like this can hold its own even all these years later, isn't it? There is something unique about this game that no other game can offer. I simply love it. I haven't played much of EOTN. I got to a point of mandatory group content with Asura and it stopped for me there. I need to look into Ebonhawk arc a bit more and see where it leads. Usually I complete Norn ark in full. Jora is my fav!
It’s a great game! I’m glad there is a lot of attention drawn to it right now! I feel like due to its age many people wouldn’t know it exists focusing on Guild Wars 2.
@@ShadowsCozyInn it was a super unique game and I'm afraid we will never have it's like again. I'm trying to get my friend into it since he would love this type of game.
Yes! I agree! GW1 is super unique and even despite older visual still holds such a vivid ambiance and atmosphere!! GW1 also manages to tell stories and establish lore without overwhelming the player and make sense at the same time. Wish Anet stuck to it as well expanded upon the lore they already made canon instead of making whatever it was in End of Dragons in GW2… I’m actually considering to do sort of story dives into each campaign. Maybe i’ll finally finish Prophecies campaign on my Ranger 😅 Although i think Nightfall will always be my fav
@@ShadowsCozyInn I think it managed to capture the feel of an old school rpg (the kind that were based on tabletop roleplaying) and found that great mix of the low key and the fantastic. Like a lot of places were gorgeous and scenic but weren't "too much" the music was often time subtle and there were a lot of emotional moments in the story like the ending of the prophecies tutorial area (to this day I refuse to play Charr in GW2 for that specific event)
I may have missed it but you didn't talk about the co-op missions. The entire game is a co-operative story line and missions have their own challenges, there's hard mode and etc, so much to talk about.
HI! I was talking more from personal experience with the game rather than going over facts about it. I play casually and solo, so in most cases I don't face some crazy challenges or co-op. The game is undeniably hard at times & punishes Leeroy Jenkins approach. The review was also pretty brief because I was only starting to do this type of reviews and didn't go into too much detail. Maybe if I was covering each chapter individually, I'd do a more deep dive. Thank you for the comment!
I always loved this game from when I was young. Should they ever close the servers I hope they go through the efforts of making an offline version of the game.
Hi! Thank you for the comment! Anet said they have no intention to close GW1 servers as it doesn’t cost much to maintain them. I do love GW1, especially Nightfall!
Hello! GW1 is definitely active and far from dead. Although it depends on what your activity expectations are. The game has its dedicated communities and some guilds actively recruit albeit number of players definitely going down when GW2 was released. Pretty sure guilds still compete for outposts in Factions (Cantha) regions of Echovald Forest and Jade Sea. Pre-Searing Prophecies has its own community, and main city in Istan in Nightfall chapter is always full of people, but otherwise public hubs will likely be mostly empty or have 1-2 players in them. You don’t really need other players for PvE content as you can complete an entire game with NPC henchmen and heroes. If you want less hassle with NPC team, start with Nightfall and unlock heroes, they’re an upgrade of henchmen, really, as they are very customizable in terms of builds. More heroes came with Eye of the North. Heroes can dual class much like you as a player. Henchmen are just NPCs with their predetermined set of skills you cannot change. If you want to complete the game chronologically, then you will have to deal with henchmen first before you get to heroes. Thank you for the comment! ❤️
@@ShadowsCozyInn because im play gw2 and i was hacked for my acc.. Gw1 5 years ago.. I want play agsin gw1 :3 ty can tell me ur nick in gw1 for add u maybe play togheter later.. Srry my english is bad haja :(
Define solo. I consider playing with NPCs solo experience. If you mean solo-solo run, you can do it in Prophecies, but it’ll be VERY hard. WoodenPotatoes did it a long time ago. Soloing Factions is likely impossible due to all missions having a time ticker. If you want those medals, titles and achievements for Hall of Monuments, you have to party up. I’m not sure how doable it is in Nightfall as that one has some special extra assignments that translate into medals and eventually titles. Soloing might be rough. Thanks for the comment! I appreciate you!!
Yeah, game is absolutely playable on your own. The only time you really need a player is a tutorial quest in Pre-Searing Probecies that essentially teaches you how to party up. Dungeons might be rough with NPCs of you’re not properly geared up. There are two types of NPCs - henchmen and heroes. Henchmen were the original party members, then heroes were introduced as an upgrade. Henchmen have set skills and are not customizable, while heroes are and you have more control over their skills and attack patterns, including the ability to dual-class them much like your own toon. If you want easier and smoother experience as well as better party control, you’d play Nightfall>Eye of the North>Factions>Prophecies order. So yoy can grab the heroes and then do the rest of the content. If you care about lore, story and continuity, you’d be better off doing Prophecies>Factions>Nightfall>EotN. But this path is a bit more challenging since you have no say in your party’s fighting styles. Third option costs money and requires time sink - mercenaries (your alts). You have to buy slots for them with real money. But this requires playing the game for many hours, setting up & gearing your alts before you can use this option properly.
I played GW1 when GW2 was announced, Played for a while, but found the game to get a bit too hard later on, as I was playing solo. Played GW2 for a long time, too much really and got burned out. Never got a precursor... ever.
I looted my pre-cursor before crafting them was a thing. I don’t have any legendaries though. I’m too poor for those 😂 As for GW1, playing solo is why i have never finished EotN. I did stuff i could solo, but then 4-person dungeons roadblocked me from progression. And since i play GW1 casually, idk even if those dungeons can be solo’d
Worth Playing? Heal yeah. I like Star Wars Old Rep., I like WoW, but this one is different than other online rpgs. It's one of mine (or even the) most favourite online rpg ever.
Hi & thank you for the comment! Much appreciate it! Yes, I agree, this game is what they call timeless classic. I might return to finishing my campaign in Prophecies if I ever get past one annoying mission in Henge of Denravi, i believe. It’s a timed one where you light “beacons” or some such before White Mantle corrupts them. Soloing it, i’m just not fast enough.
Hey! I would imagine it's due to dungeon mechanics that some of the paths have. It would require money and effort and time to program AI to understand what needs to be done. If an AI can even accomplish some of those. ESO, for example, doesn't have intricate puzzle-like mechanics in their dungeons hence why they are doable with NPC followers. I don't recall if EotN dungeons in GW1 have any kind of mechanics. I don't think I have ever beaten one. I tried, but got my ass handed to me because my builds aren't exactly fine-tuned for that.
@@ShadowsCozyInn you are correct i think , the only MMORPG i love that cater to new players and provide NPC is FF14... toxic players there get banned and kicked out
Every MMO makes you take a hiatus. That’s the case for me in ESO. Love that game, but have no desire to log in and play. I get bored just thinking about it lol Thank you for the comment!!
That statement hits home. I’m returning after a 13 year-ish hiatus. So strange, like a time warp to continue characters left incomplete I really enjoyed at the time. At some point must have cast it aside entering my mid/late teen years… The last carefree days I can remember I had no idea to be grateful for at the time
If it’s upgrade like WoW had, then yes bc that will retain the atmosphere of the game. But if it’s on the GW2 level, then pass. Game will lose more than it’ll gain IMO
I would agree with Elden Ring had I played it, but I don't like Pokemon Go, personally. I'm not a mobile gamer. Right now, best game ever made for me is Baldur's Gate 3. It's an absolute masterpiece!
I’d have to log-in to check, tbh. Never really paid attention to servers unless i was in main city in Istan in Nightfall because it’s always crowded for trading. I can poke in tomorrow after work to double check!
I think it was the only good MMO of its kind. I've recalled it to my computer and reinstalled it for my next of kin because everything after that is just stupid and disgusting.. Guild wars was probably the best RPG game in the MMO category ever made. As with everything else the sequel just got to overcomplicated and uninteresting.
Hi! Thank you for the comment! Yes, GW1 was definitely it's own unique experience. As for GW2, I liked base game and it's story and I liked Icebrood Saga season because it connects a lot to GW1, IMO by visiting Grothmar Valley and such. Ther rest was meh. Expected more from Elona in GW2, tbh.
I gave it a shot even the PVP and it just felt like a whole other game. I think the first one was what made it best in the simplicity of the design and the intention for the player to play a little less and treated as a healthy hobby and not some MMO addiction. The second one had just about nothing interesting in the way of PVE for me and all together it seemed like it just slid into the same boring routine is the rest of them did. Still the first one is a masterpiece and that's what would go to my younger relatives so I'm glad it's such a good job. I loved City of Heroes and City of Villains kind of wish they hadn't discontinued that.
@@ShadowsCozyInn But.....see..you have the professional good sense to feel that 😎 Don't cheat yourself out of the experience, a future of waiting for other players to join lies ahead should you embrace it! Not likely to actually be killed now 😸

Wow! That’s quite a break!!! Hope you feel good about being back!! Yeah, GW2 is really an acquired taste for many people who played and enjoyed GW1. I have had conversations with players in GW1 not too long ago, and they’re adamant about ever playing GW2. Some actually said that they’re glad GW2 exists as it seemingly drained GW1 community of bad actors. I personally prefer storytelling in GW1 as well as some of the lore aspects surrounding magic as heavy involvement of elder dragons in GW2 almost felt like a retcon to the original lore. And writing took a nose dive in early years of GW2 especially if you look at it from perspective of the GW1 quality
Presearing was sooo damn fun and chill. Still log in every year or so and always surprising how many people I see. Still gives me PTSD from death leveling charr tho

Srry my english is bad haja :(
Can you solo everything? That would be lit.
@@ShadowsCozyInn Yes, with npcs. I usually mean solo without other players.
I’m too poor for those 😂
As for GW1, playing solo is why i have never finished EotN. I did stuff i could solo, but then 4-person dungeons roadblocked me from progression. And since i play GW1 casually, idk even if those dungeons can be solo’d
I played GW when it came out, and the game is a bit easier to get into nowadays.
Soloing it, i’m just not fast enough.
how come gw2 dont have AI npc for dungeons
@@ShadowsCozyInn you are correct i think , the only MMORPG i love that cater to new players and provide NPC is FF14... toxic players there get banned and kicked out
I couldn’t get into FF14. I tried it, but got bored. I like a good story, but pacing was a little too slow for me, personally.
@@ShadowsCozyInn yeah i know GW2 is just lackluster compared fo FF14 , it is elitist and toxic player heaven
its worth playing until you suddenly feel it isnt anymore
Every MMO makes you take a hiatus. That’s the case for me in ESO. Love that game, but have no desire to log in and play. I get bored just thinking about it lol
Thank you for the comment!!
That statement hits home. I’m returning after a 13 year-ish hiatus. So strange, like a time warp to continue characters left incomplete I really enjoyed at the time. At some point must have cast it aside entering my mid/late teen years…
The last carefree days I can remember I had no idea to be grateful for at the time
Pretty sure it was my grandp who finally got the trilogy for me. RIP Gp
High res textures could work tho.
If it’s upgrade like WoW had, then yes bc that will retain the atmosphere of the game. But if it’s on the GW2 level, then pass. Game will lose more than it’ll gain IMO
Best games ever made
1 guildwars
2 elden ring
3 pokemon go
I would agree with Elden Ring had I played it, but I don't like Pokemon Go, personally. I'm not a mobile gamer.
Right now, best game ever made for me is Baldur's Gate 3. It's an absolute masterpiece!
@ShadowsCozyInn I've heard great things about Baldurs Gate! I should give them a shot
@@opb1997 If you like Divinity Original Sin 2, you will LOVE BG3. I'll be def livestreaming it soon, after I fully recover from concussion.
it is worth it
Absolutely agree! If i could stream, i’d probably stream an entire game
i have question, this game have asia server?
I’d have to log-in to check, tbh. Never really paid attention to servers unless i was in main city in Istan in Nightfall because it’s always crowded for trading. I can poke in tomorrow after work to double check!
@@ShadowsCozyInn If I'm correct, there's Americas / Other (don't know lol), Europe, Korea, Japan and China server choices.
@@MrLove-666 oh thank you for the information, in the next year I will be discharged from the conscript soldier I would buy this game at a full price
@@jonus1820 Then invest in GW Complete, you get all 3 Campaigns and the EotN expansion.
Yes there is an Asia district for all outposts
@@leelynch3614 I'm too much of a chicken and a casual to attempt PvP in GW1 xD
@@ShadowsCozyInn But.....see..you have the professional good sense to feel that 😎
Don't cheat yourself out of the experience, a future of waiting for other players to join lies ahead should you embrace it! Not likely to actually be killed now 😸
@@leelynch3614 GW1 community is pretty dedicated, and I know I will turn into paste. I might try it in the future, who knows.
I went into GW2 PvP recently for the first time since 2015, and surprisingly had a lot of fun
I have just returned to the game ....I made 80 ectos in about 2 hours 😆 😆 😆 😆
Welcome back to the nut house? Been away long?
I dont think i have any ectos in GW1 🤔 My Xunlai bank os filled with damn minis idk what to do with 😂
@@ShadowsCozyInn hahah thank you. I started playing when I was 13 and stopped when I turned 20 ....now I'm 29 and retired so I started playing again. Hahaah yep too many mini pets I had about 60 presents and gift token things across my account but fortunately I talked my wife into making am account and effectively double my storage ;) ..... I played gw2 for about 20 hours and didn't enjoy
"I don't play PvP at all" => Are you single?
North American server we have a community dedicated just for pre ascalon. Our guild has been established since 2005 come add me Hopeless Ramentic.
Presearing was sooo damn fun and chill. Still log in every year or so and always surprising how many people I see. Still gives me PTSD from death leveling charr tho
Nice video!
Thabk you ever so much! ❤️
