  • The CCTV footage in the beginning is a reenactment. But the scenes of families brought back together however are all too real. You can help us do more: goo.gl/8B88rK
For nearly 155 years the International Committee of the Red Cross has worked to bring families separated by conflict or natural disaster back together again.
Under international humanitarian law, aka the laws of war, people have the right to know what happened to their missing relatives. Governments, the military authorities and armed groups have an obligation to give information and help efforts to put families back together.

@@ihateyouall7026 Both parent and child will be in distress. It's not simply "oh I'm lost!" It's the dread that you are separated from the only people you know in a sea of strangers. It's disorientating to look around and only see faces unfamiliar to you. Running around looking for them and not finding them just adds fuel to the flames of panic.

I lost my 4yo daughter at an amusement park. She was eventually found by a staff member. It was the most terrifying 30 minutes of my life. The suppressed panic. The running and searching. I absolutely lost it when saw her. She's 16 now and it still chokes me up thinking about it. God, I hope those parents found their kids.

I read in one of Reddit public chats a story of one mother. She lost a child in overcrowded mall, as soon as she understood what happened she jumped on a bench there and screamed to people about what happened and how her child was looking. So people were willing to help her, they began to search and soon after that the child was found on another floor of the mall. I think she reacted very well!

I once had a mom in hysterics approach me in Mexico asking for help finding her toddler. I immediately ran to the road and checked every bus and car I could see on case someone was trying to make off with him. The child was eventually found wandering lost in the market. I shared her extreme anxiety and took immediate action to help locate the child. My girlfriend at the time sat there and didn't move and inch. I broke up with her because of it after the trip. I felt she lacked the most basic humanity for a child and mother.

I already didn't have any sleep and was walking up the road in a daze, expecting but hoping not to see her lying there after being hit. When I tried looking through the graveyard across from where I lived I was internally begging the people at rest there to help me find her. She was gone all day, probably enjoying the sun tbh, and came back that night. She looked freaked out (she's spooked by everything) but she was ok, thankfully. She's curled up next to me rn. For the amount of terror I felt then, I can't imagine what it must be like for a parent losing a child, even temporarily.

This happened to me in our own house. I took out the trash one night without properly closing our house door. I went inside the house, and then after 15 minutes I noticed my 2 year old son wasn't around the house. My husband and I frantically looked around the house but he was nowhere to be found. We searched outside and we were shouting and running around the neighborhood. Our house was right by the main road and my biggest fear was that he went out of the house and somebody took him. The police got called about 10 of them showed up. Neighbors went out to help too. Police searched around the house, nothing found. After almost an hour an investigator arrived and we went inside the house again to search, I was crying so much and was losing my mind. We went to my son's room for the nth time to search and just when we're about to leave, I saw a slight movement underneath the pillows. I immediately pulled the pillows and I saw my son curled up soundly sleeping! I was very distraught it took me one week to recover. I still cry whenever I try to relive that day.

Then one day, I let go of her hand and ran, but didn't hear her coming after me. I stopped to look back, but didn't see her anywhere. My heart dropped, I panicked and started crying my eyes out. Turns out my mother was hiding behind a pillar not too far away from where I was having my breakdown. She walked to me and said in the most chill tone, "Now you know how I feel".

nah. everyone usually only talks about the child. Imagine investing thousands, even MILLIONS of dollars into your kid, loving them with every ounce of your being, giving up on hopes and dreams, but having them disappear? holy shit. Some parents literally go INSANE trying to look for their kids, but half the time the child doesn't even realize the gravity of the situation.
