Dude your riffs sound like something Matt Heafy from Trivium would make. You should try and send this to him maybe he'll let you join their band Aight for real tho some of the riffs reminded me of some Trivium tunes which is awesome
I mean Matt Heafy literally talks to everyone in the metal community so it’s not that hard but Nik is definitely good and has certainly come a long way.
Matt is a very open and decent human being and he's been alot more involved since COVID as well so it was more likely than before that they'd do a collab but still great to see both in the same video
@@nicolacavalieri2364 I was gonna say, this video could have been written using a "Frail Words Collapse" tab book... Except maybe the last one, that sounded more like Trivium (WEIRD RIGHT? I WONDER WHY!?)

Guess it's more a Washington thing.
Further proof that Matt can fart out classic core riffs in his sleep. I'm glad Trivium has evolved but I'm also glad that they still throw it back to the mid 2000's for some songs/sections in their recent albums. And congrats on another great collab Nik, it was only a matter of time for MKH to show up here!
There was just something special about 2000s Metalcore. Most everything now is just "let's be as heavy as possible" but back then there were some sick riffs, great chugs, and interesting melodies.
Heavy only in the sense that you'll need special subwoofers to listen to everything properly. 2000s metalcore was simple, rhythmic, groovy, had good choruses, good melodies, and the lyrics were meaningful. As I lay dying is great, even now confined is so good.

@Dragon Ball fans can't read you really didn’t read my comment. I mentioned a specific album by them. Not their first 2. Listen to their song Poison off From death and Destiny, it’s about as good as many modern metalcore bands
This vid snapped me back to University times, listening to music on a diskman. Working all day long, studying at the night, scavenging any new band we could find and playing with the dudes at the weekend. Life was great.
200’s metalcore is what got me into metal in the first place. Demon Hunter, The Showdown, He is Legend, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster were the fist metal bands I got into, and I still listen to them

It’s amazing how much of this feels like a KSE tutorial.
5-7-8+ harmony, quick pull offs and hammer ons, and octave chords is the way go. Sounds awesome
5-7-8 sounds like Through Struggle by As I Lay Dying!
Riffing chords is just so cool and fun. I don't care if it's a cliche. It's like guitar harmonies. They are inherently badass and epic.
I love how Matt plays those brutal As I Lay Dying riffs with the calmest face.
The first ''Chug It'' brought such nostalgia in my heart.
Heafy always seems to be so focused, lot of respect for him

Those Pinch harmonics were DOPE man!!! I struggle pinching on the lower strings. Great Job!
Matt Needs to just come out with early 2000's Metalcore or have a side project that is just early 2000's Metalcore
I would die for a Trivium EP where they just go full Ascendency throwback, just an ep doesn't even need to be a full album.
This is like my songwriting blueprint. Might have to recycle a few of these for some new songs. Keep 00's Metalcore alive
