Thank you, How important is it that we have in our world not just musicians who make beautiful music but also those who make/restore beautiful musical instruments for those who make that music. Great work Sir.
I understand that when having to make a "neck reset" you need to do something with the angle neck / body. Therefore there are to ways to start from: Shaving down the fingerboard in the direction of the guitars' head. or making a real neck reset which is not possible in the way it has been done on this guitar: The inner and outer heel are existing in only one piece of wood. the kind of dowel construction in which the neck is mounted to the body here you won't find on the more expensive instruments.Let that be a warning for those who are willing to try this on a high end classical guitar. Having visited te Jose Ramirez workshop I can tell you that they're are opting most of the time by shaving away the fingerboard towards the guitar head. Or mounting a entirely new fingerboard with various thickness alongside the length of it in exceptional situations. But good work here anyway!
I've been 'restoring' two old guitars, an acoustic from 1967 and a classical, much like yours, from the early 70's and with the flaming maple sides and back. Those are real 'sleepers' when it comes to sound quality. I sanded down the checked finish of the dried out spruce top and refinished it with a French Polish. Great slabs of Rosewood back in those days, and over time the wood saps crystalize, turning them almost into a gemstone. The acoustic had a large chip on the bottom from a drop, and some mahogany stain and CLA fixed it right up. I never reset a neck, but have a junk Yamaha to practice on.
Restoring a 1967 Goya atm, any tips? TIA! Needs a neck reset, I'm attempting to essentially just steam and clamp a straight aluminum tube to it. Saw it on yt. 😂
@@leonarddaneman810 technically speaking you are correct. I'm adding a bit of glue and straightening the neck. Most ppl I've talked to use the phrase "neck reset" incorrectly when speaking about the process I'm describing. Never-mind, have a nice day!
Thanks. Another question please. I just acquired a 1965 Masaji Nobe classical guitar from Japan. It's in mint condition except bothe E strings at 12th fret are 4mm. Hard to barre or play trebles above 6th fret, Do you think jumbo frets will help?

You don’t like using heat and moisture to soften the glue when you take the neck off? I don’t understand why you applied the oil to the fretboard before you installed the frets. I would think that would affect the frets remaining seated. Maybe I’m wrong.
I used moisture and heat, it just didn't make it into the final cut. As for the neck. This is not oil, but wax, it dissolves quite easily with white spirit or acetone, before installing the frets, I thoroughly clean the groove.
Hello! I have big chips in the glossy coating on the body of my guitar, if you wouldn’t mind sharing, do you have any suggestions about how I should go about repairing this?
@@Barebares The coating on your guitar is called polyurethane, when it chips it can be glued with cyanoacrylate. You can add some superglue, then buff to your desired finish. I do a similar job in the semi hollow guitar video.
I bought Japanese guitar made in 1953, I wouldn’t do this stuff to her ;) I only cleaned it and polished, and filed nut slots; it is perfect now. I know some crazy guys would “enhance” sound by making bracing thinner, but my guitar already has thin fan bracing, and my goal is not making it sound louder ;)

For clarity, I generally don’t when there’s a channel to press fit it into. Though most ‘budget’ classical guitars will be as this one is and I would certainly use a bit of glue at the end of the fretboard.
