“Glad” to hear I’m not the only one who feels the upper on the Pro 3 needs to change (either like the 2 or Prime X materials). Surprised that this is the only review that discussed this. Great video!
Love my Prime X Strung. So fun to run in, just be careful on sharp turns and potholes! I have nearly 400k in mine and counting and mainly use for Long runs and it gets better every run. What a joy to run in, what a shoe!
Totally agree. I understand that it's not for everyone but, FOR ME (and you too!), there is no other shoe like it. It's sort of in a realm of its own in terms of the ride and fun factor. I'm excited every time I step in and lace it up for a long run. I run in my other shoes so I can enjoy and savor the PXS even more the next day. lol
I have the original Prime X, had 170miles on it, I only used it on paved surfaces, really enjoyed the shoe for my long runs. But I just rolled my left ankle completely at mile 17 in my long run last Sunday. Still nursing my ankle today. I landed on the edge of a patchwork, the minor height difference between the original surface and the new finish is enough to roll my ankle, I rolled it so bad that I felt the road with the top of my foot...... From now on, I will mainly use the shoe on treadmill, and use Nike Invincible 2 for my long runs.
I've had the Prime X strung for quite a few months. No rubbing initially but then I had some rubbing on the heel. You need to soften up the stitching back there. Anyway it went away after a few runs and is ok again. Upper fits perfect. Nothing like it though at cruising. Closest is alphafly 2 but that shoe isn't as fun imo and every day I want to run in the Prime X strung... Not so with alphafly 2. Prime X Strung is marathon and maybe half. Under that it doesn't make a lot of sense. Love to see some more Nb elite v3 comparisons as I'm enjoying that shoe a lot. Thanks vm for the great video 😊
Totally agree. I went a full size up and changed the laces on my Pro 3s, but still feel the need to plaster up the toes for any long run. Going a full size up helped with the stability, but uppers still suck
I have both - solid reviews! Strung is unlike anything else and a must buy/try - but more for training. Won’t use strung for comrades even though I’d love to… SA roads have a lot of camber and they wouldn’t work.
I’ve just bought the pro 3 for Brighton this weekend, the upper is not great for tying up, but I find that with the vaporflys 2. I feel these (pro 3’s) will be more comfortable than the vaporflys for long distance too. The strung up on the pro 3 would have been the perfect combo. Thanks you for the content. Fingers crossed sub 3 this Sunday 🤞🏼
Love both these , they both compliment each other and both very versatile , I ve run hundreds of miles in each of these , the prime x is really quick as well I know these had a bad rep by the Nay sayers who hadn’t even tried them properly, yet the prime x has won over more runners when they are treated with caution it actually becomes more Natural !
Hey, how are the Strung holding in terms of stability while you were running on cobblestones? I live in Prague and most of my runs are on long flat bike paths, but I know the marathon and half marathon courses have some historical cobbles on the way. Did you have to be more careful around those unstable areas while wearing Prime X? :) Considering trying these in race rotations with Alphas and VFs.
Thx for the video. Dont understand why adidas designed the heel this way on these shoes and other ones like the adios 7. Because when you turn this little heelthing down, you get a very sharp line and i think a lot of people will get problems there.
I have both and love both but the Prime X Strung is the shoe that I look forward to running in more than any other. For my 2~3 long runs per week (anywhere from 13 to 20 miles), it's always the PXS. It keeps my feet and legs feeling fresh through the runs and afterwards. It provides a fun, exciting, and - at times - exhilarating ride. For me, where I really feel and enjoy the stack height is in the forefoot and mid-foot areas more than the heel. Having 40mm+ height in the forefoot is what makes it so comfortable for me over the long runs. Yes, you need to pay attention when turning corners and keep an eye on potholes and other obstacles but, overall, if you have a flat and smooth route that you are familiar with, it's not that big of a deal. The Adios Pro 3 is more like a chugging-along long-distance workhorse and race shoe. I have the Vaporfly 2 and the Endorphin Pro 3 and I still prefer the Adios Pro 3. It just suits me better for whatever reason. The VF2 is definitely the fastest shoe I've tried (along with the Takumi Sen 8) but I don't like going over 10K with it. The EP3 is a great all-round race shoe and trainer but I just prefer the feel and ride of the AP3 and it mainly has to do with the bounce and the responsiveness of Lightstrike Pro. The PWRRUN PB in the EP3 and Speed 3 is very good, but I just like the feel of LSP and ZoomX more. It's all subjective in the end. I do agree that the upper on the AP3 is a bit problematic. It takes a good amount of fiddling with the laces to get the right balance between comfort and lockdown. That forefoot area that Kieran mentions can develop hot spots but, once I get the lacing just right, the Adios Pro 3 is awesome in feel, ride, and performance over long distances. I really hope that Adidas will put the Strung upper on the next iteration of the Adios Pro. I haven't had any heel-rubbing issues that Tom and Nick mention on either shoes at all although I've had it (plus blisters) on the Endorphin Pro 3,, so go figure. Our feet and sensibilities are all different. You just have to find what works FOR YOU.
I hate the laces on the adios pro 3. But not for any reasons ppl mention them on yutube. If you use the runners knot, the laces are just terribly short... you almost need to use tweezers to make the loop and pull them tight.
Adidas are love 'em or hate 'em shoes. I love them. The fewer people who like them..the more for me. Won't race in anything else (after a brief but passionate relationship with Hoka) ever again. I use lots of shoes: from Saucony to Hoka to New Balance to On - for dailies or easy & long runs. Speed work or races? Adidas Adizero - always. Boston 12, Adipro 3 & 4, Takumi Sen 10..
I'm not sure I would be able to do a proper review on a shoe that I bought that doesn't fit me properly. Maybe sort that first then do the review? Just a thought.
Thanks for doing this one guys. I’m torn between spending all my 💰💰💰In the after market for the Strung vs buying the Pro 3 still for sale at adidas. I had a scary ride in original PrimeX but set PBs in it. Pro 2 was not a marathon shoe IMO. Sounds like the 3 is…
Prime X is great! People who complain about the stability just haven’t worn it enough. I haven’t tried the Strung yet but I don’t think it changed much besides the upper.
There is more maneuverability in turns the prime X than in the adios pro 3 Kieran? I am always getting the impression that the prime x is the less stable shoe and the worse performing one when turns come into play.
Great comparison, thanks team. I have both (not strung though) and have struggled with lockdown/rubbing, more so on the AP3s. I am currently trying to decide on race shoe for Boston and was considering the PrimeX. However, with the Newton hills I wasn’t sure how all that stack height would feel on the climbs so currently leaning more towards the metaspeed Sky (v1). Do you think the PrimeX would help or hinder when running hills at marathon effort?
You don't like the AP3 because its has a narrower base but shoes that you like such as the Metaspeed Sky + are much more narrower then the AP3 so you're points don't quite make sense. Also keep in mind not everyone runs as fast as you guys and that changes which shoe is better. As far as I know you need to keep the pace up in shoes like the Metaspeed so it won't work nearly as well for slower runners. Generally I agree more with Tom then anyone else on this channel.
Just ordered a pair of adios pro 3 for 150€, couldn't resist 😅 always wanted a pair of metaspeed sky+, but the don't seem to drop in price. still waiting for the pro 3s to arrive but a little afraid about the upper. Hope it will work for me. I tried recently some adios 7 in a store and put them back because I got annoyed by this plastic feel.
i have the same prime x strung. the shoe fits great apart from some very weird pressure point at the arch on my left foot. i put in extra insole cause the original ones are glued and i solved it.
I am so sure the Adios pro 4 will be strung. Shame that the Adios 3 is such a great shoe with a bad upper that is rubbing all over the foot due to the hard material
Does the strung have the same lace loops with hard piece near the toebox ? I bought the pro 3 and original prime x and can't use either as that area cuts one of my feet..same area both shoes.
I race in the Adios Pro 3 and love it. The light strike pro midsole is my favorite midsole of all the super shoes
“Glad” to hear I’m not the only one who feels the upper on the Pro 3 needs to change (either like the 2 or Prime X materials). Surprised that this is the only review that discussed this. Great video!

I also rolled my left ankle really bad twice with the adios pro 3.😢

I get rubbing and pain on the pro 3 even half a size up. The upper needs a redesign. It’s a shame because the outsole / midsole work well for me.
Totally agree. I went a full size up and changed the laces on my Pro 3s, but still feel the need to plaster up the toes for any long run. Going a full size up helped with the stability, but uppers still suck

Thanks for the review, I'm aiming for sub 3 in October and sounds like I'll stick with my nike vapourfly next% 2
Just done the Prague half in the Strung and PB'd, loving these, and choosing between Alphas will be difficult now on race day.

@neforgesebla all good, done a few halves since and extremely comfortable. Will buy a second pair if ever on sale.
The comparison i was waiting for, as someone who find the adidas foot shape fitting me best among the top shoe brands. I have one but not the other.
Thx for the video. Dont understand why adidas designed the heel this way on these shoes and other ones like the adios 7. Because when you turn this little heelthing down, you get a very sharp line and i think a lot of people will get problems there.

That's some collection you have bud. 🙌👌
i also have booth and i musst say for the marathon and my long runs the prime x strung feels so perfect and that colorway is a beauty

Big fan of both of these shoes! As far as sizing, I'm half size down in both.
Prime X for the win. Don’t worry about the stability. A small abound of focus will lead you to unlocking its magic! Best shoe ever.
I'm not sure I would be able to do a proper review on a shoe that I bought that doesn't fit me properly. Maybe sort that first then do the review? Just a thought.

What about prime x VS Boston 12 ?
I prefer the pro3 to the prime strung, as I have rolled my ankles in the latter a couple of time in the last 6 months
i have the same prime x strung. the shoe fits great apart from some very weird pressure point at the arch on my left foot. i put in extra insole cause the original ones are glued and i solved it.

No
Is no one else wondering how it can be £230/$300 and yet £220/$230?? 😂
Sizing and stability on the Strung is just weird
they just complain about everything like old men out of touch. both of these shoes are elite
Pro 3 strung would be spot on
wait how does it cost 230 pounds 300$ but pro 3 costs 220 pounds but only 230 dollars
Surely Pro3 is not firmer than vaporfly? 😅
Dedicated review getting some steps in two different stack heights, one on each foot haha
