You should check out the 2017 Green Day crowd at Hyde Park. 65,000 people singing Bohemian Rhapsody, 28 years after Freddie passed away and 40+ years after this song came out. A great tribute to Freddie and Queen 🙏❤️

I was at this concert in London, and Queen's last show with Freddie Mercury 13 months later. I might be in my 60s now, but always loved decent music.

You’re watching what is arguably the greatest live performance in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. One of my biggest regrets in life was not seeing queen when I was a teenager. Mercury was a very special man. Everyone loved Freddy and this is back in a time in which homosexuality was pretty frowned upon And when it came to Freddy, everyone ignored all of that homophobic, bullshit and appreciated, adored, and loved Freddy. You didn’t have to like queen, but everyone loved Freddie Mercury..
I was 15 and I remember watching all of live aid on TV.
Anyway, I really like how you said that the people who witnessed that were very fortunate because you’re absolutely correct. This was a moment to never be forgotten.
Just like Eddie Van Halen we miss you Freddy so much. We grew up listening to you and your stage presence was unbelievable. And as for walking out in front of that many people, when you’re Freddie Mercury it doesn’t matter it could’ve been 2 million people Freddy is there to perform just like you always did.
    God bless you, Freddie!

We don't all know our path right away. For some of us it takes years. Some of us search, some of us just stumble onto it. I'm so happy for you that you have found yours. I grew up with rock and roll and I've seen a lot of great concerts, but Queen was in a class of its own. Their concerts weren't just performances, they were parties and the audiences were the invited guests.

I was there that day in 1985 as a 15yr old pop music lover... I left that day as a convert to rock music, thanks mainly to Freddie & Co... You need to remember that this was NOT a Queen concert or even a Queen audience, in fact they were a last minute addition to the line up. That said for 22 minutes that afternoon Freddie had close to 73,000 people in Wembley and almost 1.9 billion watching on TV globally eating out of the palm of his hand.
David Bowie followed Queen that day and was in the wings when they came off stage and apparently said to Freddie something along the lines of "thanks you b'stard, how the f*** am I supposed to follow that?"😂😂
I was lucky enough to see them again the following year on their "Magic" tour, Status Quo opened for them (BONUS) and Queen certainly didn't disappoint.
I'm now a 55yr old woman who's been to 300ish live rock concerts over the years, everyone from Guns n Roses to ACDC to Uriah Heep, Meatloaf, Status Quo, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi (48 times 😂), The Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry) to H.I.M and the 69 Eyes.. but that 22 minutes right there is still by far the best 22 minutes of live greatness EVER! And one show that has never left my memory!
God bless you Freddie and Thank you for the music.. Rest In Paradise you legend 👑👑👑

4:40 I mean, you hear Queen playing, you sing along. This is the way. ❤
I was a wee lass when this aired, and sadly it wasn’t until the appearance of YT that I was finally able to witness this unforgettable moment in time. I’d been an instant die-hard Queen fan from 6 years old, but only through the introduction of my Dad’s love of what is now considered Classic Rock, the 70s gracing us with the masterful sound of Queen. Had my Mom actually been ok to let me watch this as it aired, maybe I could’ve gotten acquainted with them a year earlier. 🤷‍♀️
Every single time I watch this live set, I send out a dozen kisses and constantly get goosebumps throughout the performance. They never fail to impress. Brian May was Born to play that guitar 🎸 just as Freddie Mercury was born to effortlessly make the world for years to come fall in love with that Iconic voice of his. 🙂‍↔️❤

One of those epic moments in life.. This was a family affair everyone nailed to the couch, goose bumps, jaws dropped to the floor, hard to keep composure and knowing probably half a billion people around the world watching this. I swear this type of unity in the western world would scare any modern politician lol. Queen just was the certified, registered owner of that moment in time.

Thank you for another Queen reaction ….. I am so glad that you are enjoying your Queen journey. I agree that the movie was not a documentary….. it was loosely based on the facts……and the timelines were way off….but I did like it 😊. First off …..the band never broke up. They did take a break from recording a new album together so that they could do solo albums, Roger actually released two albums before Freddie did….. and they continued to tour together during 1984 /1985…. right up until the Live Aid performance. Freddie wasn’t diagnosed with AIDS until April of 1987…..but he didn’t tell his band right away. They never played live after 1986 …..but they did continue to make albums and music videos …right up until Freddie passed away in 1991. Thank you again for your upbeat reactions ….. 💕

I love this set from this concert. Queen KILLS it! The movie is not a documentary so don't expect it to be 100% factual. The timeline is way off and there are several other things that have been modified or heavily enhanced for the sake of keeping the movie interesting and moving forward. So don't quote the movie here or the Queenies and Queen Army will hit you with a ton of truth bombs. It is a good movie and it does have a general feel of what Freddie and the band lived through but it is a movie and fitting 20 years together into a two hour movie is no easy feat. Thank you for reacting to this excellent Queen set. I love it and I have watched it countless times including on the day it happened...I think everyone watched it. There truly is a syncronicity to life if we just take the time to be aware of it.

The extremely popular Bohemian Rhapsody film is NOT a Documentary. Brian and Roger allowed too many false story lines. Freddie was never excluded by them, never begged to be accepted...never let his personal living interfere with Queen's magnificence...in fact Freddie was the 'Rock of Gibralter' enabling Queens Legendary status now. For sure no more Queen since Freddie's death. Also, so sorry you didn't see this thru to the very end.....

You have to watch them live they become so much better.
Freddie was told not to perform that day as he was having problems with his throat, they had just come back from a hard tour of south America. The only way I could tell was the fact that Roger the drummer took the high notes on champions, this often occurred at concerts after he had been singing for 2 hours. They were so locked in with each other any changes were not noticed. 😊😊

The "movie", Bohemian Rhapsody, is a biopic, NOT a documentary. The whole thing was a mess. Watch an actual documentary, Queen: Days of Our Lives is a good one. Also, check out the "Pitch Meeting" for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie on Screen Rant's UA-cam channel. It's a bit of fun. Thanks.

Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 68 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. So, here it goes: FUN FACTS FIRST: The kisses are for his Mom who was watching him on Television.
MATTER OF FACTS: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fan growing up. So,was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person!
NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience.
NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?).
NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him.
SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW:
Anyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves!
LEAD GUITARIST: Brian May, is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! They made out of an old cabinet his mother was going to throw away. They included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)!
INTERESTING INFO: When he is waving his arm it is to tell the cameramen which way he is going bc he’s moving around so much. When he kicks his legs backwards that is getting over all the cables, that are on the Stage. TV Cameras were not cordless back in the day!! And, “We Will Rock You”, is actually a Prelude to “We Are The Champions”. (It is really all 1 Song!)
You just, truly, saw “The Greatest Show On Earth!”
Brian May said Freddy was a hard taskmaster in rehearsals. But, that he always was right about what the Audience wanted…would say that worked out pretty well..wouldn’t you agree? Freddy turned the whole Audience in to his backup singers! (By the way when he bends over & shows his backside it’s to the first Manager they had. He ripped them off. He never dreamed they would get as big as they were going to be. He explained @ a Show, why he was doing it. It was such a hit he decided to keep doing it. Basically, he was reminding the guy how he screwed up!)
