Back in the early 2000's I had the opportunity to see APRIL WINE play in the Astor Theater in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Their sound system was obviously designed for a larger venue than the Astor (400 seats!), and during the show bits of plaster began to trickle down from the stage's proscenium. Henceforth, the following two night's performances where known as ROCK THE PLASTER OFF THE ASTOR shows! I had the chance to speak to Myles Goodwyn after one of the shows, and his love of music, and getting to play in his home province of Nova Scotia was so evident. And I'm not 100% sure if it's true, but supposedly the band that Myles first started, called PRISM, had to change its name because another band with that name from B.C., was starting to become more well known. And the very first place that the band played under their new name of April Wine was in a little Nova Scotia town called Liverpool! And supposedly there wasn't a high school gym anywhere in Nova Scotia that April Wine hadn't played in before they finally got their record deal, so they earned their success honestly. R.I.P. Myles Goodwyn. You will be missed!
Love hearing Myles talk about these great April Wine songs. Thank you Myles for creating so many wonderful songs to make the world a better place all these years. Hello from Cleveland.
I had never heard of this band or this song until I moved to Canada in 08. It was constantly on the radio, and now I'm hooked. Great songs that will last forever.
This song brings up memories being a teenager in a small community in Nova Scotia. If I'm not mistaken I think Myles was from or was raised in Waverly Nova Scotia. This was a hop skip and a jump from my community. Never got the pleasure of hearing him sing RIP Myles your legacy will love on
Went to Canada day in Brantford Ontario a few years back 2015? And we brought with us our summer boarder a sixteen year old girl from France. She and my daughter watched the show and later that night I noticed she was singing “tonight is a wonderful night... “she had never heard it before . A new language for her and it stuck ... welcome to summer in Canada . !
April Wine's Stand Back, the soundtrack to my junior high years. Many good songs on this album. Do wish that Myles would have left the sunglasses at home ;o)
This got heavy airplay in the summer of '75 when I was a kid...saw the concert too with the cannon and Gerry Mercer with the steady 2 handed drum roll, blew my mind!!! Made me a big fan.
Grew up with this band this is just one of so many awesome songs I think I will always love oowhatanite the best though that opening blew me away and the very first band I ever saw that came to our high school did it for there opener and they nailed it they were total pro's I still remember there name Elder Dark :-)
I remember being a little kid and my older brother had this on an 8 track tape...Probably heard that story a lot i'll bet . Hey I loved this song then and still love it today. Thanks for the great tunes
This song resonates with people because it takes you to those places you treasure. Youth, young love, fun and just feeling happy. The groove and the upbeat rhythm just gives that rock n roll feel and the key change takes you up then brings you back. Its just an all around great song and will never fail to grab that heart string that takes you back to your youth... 😉
It’s the bass that moves, that makes the difference between the verse and chorus. It stays on one note in the verse and then follows the chords in the chorus.
It Blows me away that April Wine's Album "Stand Back" , Some of the Hardest Rock of all time, Resulted in no film of their performances ? Were the Hell did Oowatanite disappear to ?
Too bad Myles spent a 1/3 of the time talking about a cowbell. Would have been nice to hear some stories about how, why, and when it was written. Instead. We got nuthin'.
I could listen to this man talk all day about his songs.
Yes dear Myles, this is part of our DNA as a teenager, wonderful memories!

Absolutely fantastic song! Its got everything. Another April Wine tune that never gets old.
So it's simple. It's lovely. I missed out on these in the 80's.
Goodwyn is a musical genius..writing, arrangements, guotar, piano and vocals.

It’s all about the singing, Myles. You were a great singer.

By far my favourite April Wine song; can't remember if it was grade 9, more likely grade 10. Takes me back.

Gotta like Myles...a genuinely cool, talented guy who made some really great radio rock records...not a bad legacy for a kid from Nova Scotia.
Just love this song right from day one, just brings me back to good and happier times...
This is really great song to Sing Along 2 nice melody my favourite April Wine album nature of the Beast❤❤❤
Always liked listening and playing this one, simple but great.
"Lets fall in love" is fun to sing because love is intoxicating and everyone wants that feeling to last!❤🎵❤
Love your comment!! ❤
So good!
My first concert in London Ontario back in 1972
Reminds me of school dances in junior high back in the 70's. It seemed like every time we had a live band, the drummer always had a cowbell.

Genius songwriter.👍🏾
Classic!
Saw you at the Casino.. Love those songwriter circles
That song so reminds me of hot, sultry summer nights literally rolling in the hay with my girlfriend from another farm up the road.
Original lyrics were "Spring and summer..winter's almost here"
Love this tune and this band. Music of my youth. I loved cowbell before I realized what it was lmao! NO sampling. Damn right!
Myles is one of the greatest songwriters! Would love to see a performance with just a piano and acoustic guitar.
a true canadian treasure...
Still my favourite AW song !
It’s Canada’s national anthem!
It Blows me away that April Wine's Album "Stand Back" ,

Crap I never noticed that before! Nice
This is B Fsharp E Fsharp Then Csharp Gsharp Fsharp Gsharp Be my lover is D A G A so your statement is false .
👍👍👍
3:23 That is the song's appeal.
I gotta have more cowbell!!!
Stand Back was their best album.
Reminds me of young love when summers seemed longer lol

Ah yes. The cowbell 🤘🤣
I could still use more cowbell.

He graduated from there
@@weldonmackenzie1963 that would be the first that I have heard of that...
@@johnnymacintyre look it up lol its true
And at last...enough cowbell.
Is Goodwin blind? Why is he always wearing sunglasses in every youtube video?
he caught pink eye from Dee Snyder :D
Too bad Myles spent a 1/3 of the time talking about a cowbell. Would have been nice to hear some stories about how, why, and when it was written. Instead. We got nuthin'.
Well, that wasn't worth watching.
Very sweet thing😊
R.i.p .Canadian Legend.
The vocals makes the difference.
It was Christopher Walken that said he wanted more cowbell.
