Saw April Wine in Concert in the 80s they Rock the house everytime I saw them Myles is a genius what a solo player with the boys on alot of there tracks wow man to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. I am 53 now , growing up listening to them was a time that I will never forget. Anyone still listening in the summer of 2020.
I remember when this was released and a hit on the radio back in the fall of 1974. Makes me wish I was only 15 again. April Wine have to one of the best Canadian bands around because a few years later in my travels I have heard their hit songs played on AM/FM radio stations as far away as New Zealand so that just goes to show that the band had incredible significance. However, we gotta hand it to the frontman of the band, Myles Goodwin who made it all happen.
I was 15 years old in 1975, and my personal take on a few Canadian bands, like The Guess Who, April Wine, is that i didn't make any crossborder comparison at all, not even one percent. This was Rock to my understanding, period, which came from a multitude of independent creative artists from everywhere. The radio talk shows weren't talking much about the US vs Canadian business b/s side of it, and that's a good thing.
Saw them in Ketchikan Alaska of all places. They played there on their way up to a show in Anchorage I believe. When they flew out of there on Ak Airlines I was seated by Jerry Mercer and tried to not be a nerd fan while chit chat with him. One of my all time favorite bands.
Jim Clench died in 2010, cool he signed some stuff for me one time...Gerry Mercer, April Wine drummer tapped that bell with his drum stick every note on "Oowatanite".
I'd say April Wine was and still is one of the best bands ever. What's this Myles Goodwyn has over one hundred guitars? And he was very recently reunited with one that was stolen over 45 years ago. AMAZING!.....In a way, it seems a bit sad to see him get old
Well true enough, in fact I would say just 10 to 20 you got your hands full but then opinions vary. However, why Myles Goodwin would want to own over 100 guitars to many would be beyond question.....But then I guess that's his prerogative, and each is to their own.
That CRTC rule is great for Canadian bands!! 3/10 songs on CDN radio must be CDN. Problem is that stations play a handful of hit songs from a pretty set safe list of bands over and over. April Wine is up there with BTO & Rush in my mind. I'm 55. Those bands are a part of me and I'm proud they're CDN. All have many popular songs but we get the same 5-6 90% of the time. Most were written in the 20th Century. They're great songs.... filling the quota but missing the point. The CRTC focus should be that 50% of the 3/10 CDN content played, be showcasing upcoming Canadian talent and/or at least songs from this Century. It's a promotional tool. Thanks for the great music Myles!!
@B.J. Banditt I think with Rush you either like em or you don't but they got their big radio break on a Cleveland Oh. station playing Working Man and it's well documented. Look up them playing Tom Sawyer in Rio to 40,000 Brazilians in 2002. If you prefer Ian Thomas it's ok. I don't judge a guy by the music he likes. Adams was singing duets with Tina Turner. Neither of them got there because of the CRTC. Yeah there's a lot of old bands that only Canadians think are famous. Lots of new CDN talent that just doesn't get CRTC airplay cuz were still getting fed 1973 AM radio hits
@B.J. Banditt Good reply!! I love/live music and really try to keep an open mind and explore everything. Go on my channel and hit playlists created to see. I think I've heard Strange Brew. I'm gonna check out that and Liars too. Pat Travers is a band that I need to revisit. I remember them but they never really got my attention. I've always been more of a heavy/hard style fan. BTO with F. Turner singing Not Fragile & Sledgehammer are epic CDN rock!! I forgot those guys were bro's. SCTV was amazing and a lot of funny CDN's got big fame after that show. Joe Flaherty was my fav. & that "{s}he blowed up reeeeaaaaal good" skit. "B.J. Banditt"........ that's awesome!! "Hi, I'm B.J. Banditt"
@B.J. Banditt I'm on Vancouver Island in B.C. djboltz@outlook.com Smokey and the Bandit also = Jerry Reed who is up there with the best guitar players. Sorry but my '67 Firebird is much more awesome than Burt's Fire/TransAm all day long!! Detroit = Pavel Datsyuk. One of my playlists is Canada's rock... 700 tunes. & Canada's roll... 237 tunes.
I saw Jim Clench when he joined Bachman Turner Overdrive after Randy left in the late 70s. It was weird. Fred Turner moved to rythym guitar and Blair Thornton took over all the lead work. Robbie was the last Bachman.
that,s being kind..he is clueless about the canadian rock scene from the 60,s to 80,s.he is and idiot and poser..he would feel more at home with rappers like Drake.
April Wine live with Myles was one of the greatest rock bands I've ever seen. Much better than I expected. RIP.
Rock n Roll is a vicous game! One of, if not the best songs ever made, recorded and to this day, still one of the best of all times!
Myles, your songs will be sung forever!! I'm 73 and listen to them often! Thank you!!!!
Please, please, please tour at least one more time!
This guy sure knows how to write a great song and play and sing, he is the whole package , one of the best Canadian Classic Rock bands ...
Genuine guy Myles is. Just met him again last week. Sincere individual. Signed my book . Thanks Myles.
I have been a big April Wine fan since the late 1970's and I saw them 4 times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Like to ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge April Wine fan and I am barely in my 40's. Managed to see them in 2002 for their Back to the Mansion tour. Thanks for the memories Myles :)
The best Canadian band they are soooooo talented great song writers and musicians the the greatest hits CD is always in my player

Gypsy Queen is an amazing song
Man I grew up with these guys, saw them in concert many times! I’m so grateful
Your mother would've been proud of the beautiful music you and your band brought to us .

Dan Nullmeyer: You own 50 guitars? Well you certainly got your hands full.
@Dan Nullmeyer U own 50 GUITARS? Kool!!!!

@B.J. Banditt I'm putting them up there WITH them Beej although, come to think of it, they wrote a lot of the sappy crap I was referring to.

Myles has had more interesting conversations with folks at Tim Hortons
Lame questions. Myles was so gracious and accommodating though.
this interviewer is a jabroni!
Martin Slass never laugh so hard ....fits him well 🍻

That was a great interview.. really enjoyed it :) Thank-you!
embarassing interviewer, come on.
