  • Ian reviews the Album Twinsman surfboard: www.boardshop....
The Album Twinsman surfboard is the evolution of the twin fin Fish in motion, take an every-day fish and add more control and smoother directional change and this is what you get, a board bordering on genius. This is the board that had everyone asking what is he riding when Asher Pacey first surfed it. Its designed to be loose and responsive it's as close as you can get to skating on a wave. It features a fuller outline leading into a winged swallow tail, and concave deck with low entry rocker for instant speed. Single to double concave with vee off the tail for radical twin fin manoeuvrability. A slight concave deck with foam pushed to the perimeter with a revolutionary rail to rocker to bottom contour combination means you get a board that generates and maintains speed effortlessly but allows for easy control, direction changes and drive right when you want it. Josh Kerr spent a month in Indo at the end of 2019 and the majority of the footage that came out of that trip was him on the Twinsman, apparently he couldn’t get off it! Ride the Twinsman a couple inches longer than your fish and 1-3 liters more than your traditional shortboard.
These Album boards are works of art, Matt Parker and his team stamp a real authenticity on their boards, they're all hand finished so don't expect factory uniformity in the beautiful resin tints, everyone one is unique. The glassing is 4+4/5oz with a fin patch added too. Fin choice is important as ever, ride with a decent keel set up for everyday waves, if you want to battle more demanding conditions go for a more upright twin set up.
The Twinsman Fish, like all boards from Album is proudly built in California, no finishing of the boards takes place anywhere else but Album HQ.
Don't forget you can also order a customised version of this surfboard choosing your exact dims, fin set up and fin system, check out our customizer service at Boardshop right now. All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a £100 deposit with the balance due when we send you the board, average build time is 10-12 weeks.
We're super-stoked to be key retailer of Album surfboards and are really looking forward to hooking our lovely customers up with one of these truly stunning boards. The guys here get to surf most of the boards we stock and we get great feedback from our customers on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Album Surfboards.

Should you do it at your normal short board length or go a little smaller?

Depend on the waves you want to use it for. Ususally go 2-3 litres abouve you go to shortboard.

Shorter. I have two 5’6 @ 30 liters but my normal board is 5’9 at 27 liters.
      Works better shorter.

Been eyeing this one.... I currently have a machado seaside. Is this too similar?

It's not too similar at all, two different boards in how the perform and wave range.

Yes you have done the mid by channel island but Can you review more boards for older guys...who can still surf good but loose paddle power. wave catching ability drops year by year...(I used to own a high volume step up 7 ft board 27 years ago..that was flat rocker ...not as wide as today's board but 19.5 27 years ago was not common..but I still consider it one best boards IV ridden. Heaps of volume under the chest...so easy to paddle and great to surf ...sadly it disappeared after snapping it...it was a board a little ahead of its time..I picked it up 2nd hand..
