Riding takayama egg 7'6 since 1 year (62 yo intermediate). In any conditions it's a joy to ride. Easy paddling, easy take off, easy ride. This is a board to flow with the wave, you can ride it first class staying on the center of the board.
The perfect one quiver board for old surfers.
Edit: CI MID fins 6.5 center 3.6 side bites.

it would be nice if you add labels on the video describing size, volume, etc. of the boards

the m23 looks fuller in person than it seems on video,or my shop has a non stock dimension version (which has happened before). i'm still on my crowdkiller roundtail which goes great as long as there is a little bit of juice.

If you don’t have the true aimes fins for the fm what else would you say would work ?

    • @BoardshopUK

Any upright twin fin template would work , depending on size of the board would help determine the fin. But also comes down to how you want the board to ride too

I have been told that the egg is for larger waves. If im a beginner intermediate and the waves are usually between 2-4ft, is this still a good board for me?

The egg is probably one of the more forgiving templates, super versatile and would be a nice stable option for you to progress and push your surfing further!

Lovemachine fm is a twinzer setup not bronzer. It’s a great board!

how long is the CI Mid in this review?

Between the Mid 6 and the M23, which paddles better? I’m 42, coming up to mid lengths from short boards. I surf Southern California beach breaks, so paddling, and crowds are my main issue. And how about sizing? 7’0 vs 7’6? I’m 6’0 82kg and good but not great paddling shape

Both paddle well and will allow you to compete with the other people in the lineup. The M23 has a bit more float from tip to tail, so the added volume there will be beneficial.

Get the 7’6”. You’ll be stoked, especially if you live near Malibu, as I do.

I usually ride large fins, do you recommend going down to medium?

    • @BoardshopUK
      @BoardshopUK  11 місяців тому

Depends on how you want the board to ride, large template will give you more drive, Mediums will be more responsive for you.

From this video, we would recommend the M23 or Red Dingo ... both are a little more forgiving in their outlines and tend to have a little more foam where you need it (under your chest) , they'll paddle extremely well, catch waves easily and will allow progression to take place. There are loads of other mid length boards out there which will be perfect for an improving beginner, drop us an email at info@boardshop.co.uk and we can go through some!

Not knocking this selection at all. Would like to add that my Pukas Lady twin is awesome on stronger, clean waves and then really excels. And my Pukas 69-er Evo has great paddle power and has a crazy big wave range: from near grovelling to bigger than I dare...

Thanks for sharing! Two awesome boards and were definite contenders

I own a Lady Twin as well. It really isn‘t that fun in flatter waves without juice, but the more power the waves has, the more it comes alive. Such a sick board, needs to be on the list!! :P
