  • Within a 48-hour period, Katie Reasoner went from a healthy 12-year-old to total paralysis at Comer Children's Hospital.
As remarkable as the rare disease was that was paralyzing her body, what was even more remarkable was what happened after her therapy began.

As a nurse I can say that the patients who had someone there telling them what to expect and that someone will be there to help them showed much less fear of the process and healed the quickest. This little girl had a strong spiritual belief and patient parents and that’s a great recovery team.

I can confirm as a patient of a team of surgeons and nurses who gave me a detailed outline of my ankle reconstruction surgery after a severe break after a fall. My ankle more or less exploded. I was back to work in 4 months because I knew EXACTLY what to expect. My medical team is 2nd to none.

Right. Faith can heal anything. If a person believes they will heal, tries their best to be a good person, they will heal. Especially if they believe they are putting faith in our creators.
Because our father YHVH, and our saviour Yahshua the christ/our creators judge folks based on intent, not on lack of knowledge. Folks are judged based on whether or not they try to be good, based on the knowledge they have when making decisions. No matter what race they may be, nor what govs and religions they may be decieved by.
And because "A mustard seed worth of faith, can move mountains. ". Faith and positive spirit frequencies work miracles, all thanks to our creators.
And no thanks to the docs. Most illnesses are caused by the docs poison potions . Folks who dont get poked like a pin cusion, and who avoid pills , very rarely get sick. And if they do get sick its usually due to chemicals made by the docs.
And folks who live 100% natural and free from the docs chemicals and poison potions called pharmakia. Don't get sick at all, unless they eat something bad, injest poison, or get bitten by a poisonous critter.
Other than that, they don't get sik. They get sik when docs show up with potions and pokes. A common cold can kill them.

My daughter woke up with this dreaded disease as a single mother of 3 at the age of 40 about 10 years ago. It developed into Chronic Inflammatory Demylenating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), which is the chronic form of GBS. She is in constant pain 24/7 and is unable to walk or care for her self. She has had plasmapheresis a few times and gets the IVIG every 3 weeks. The treatments no longer give her much relief. It is gut wrenching to see her live in this horror…I feel so helpless. I’m raising her teenage son now, her 2 daughters have now grown and are on their own. Prayers to anyone affected with this horrible autoimmune disease🙏🏻🙏🏻

My mom suffered from GBS and she too almost passed away. Today she still suffers from its after affect. She was completely paralyzed and she was a heavier woman and she lost so much weight she looked like a skeleton. It was very traumatic. She suffers from neuropathy and can walk but not very well now. She can’t walk far. It’s debilitating and it’s so sad to see her be so frustrated. 🥺 but she is a SURVIVOR!

I met a young lady when I was in hospital and she had been diagnosed with GBS but it took weeks to get a diagnosis for her. She presented completely paralysed and was on a ventilator after suspected flu virus type illness. Eventually a doctor who had worked in USA and seen it before advised of her suspicions and she was Correct. However it's left her paralysed and wheelchair bound. She wasn't treated quickly enough.

I think it’s important to remember that this disease seems to affect each person differently, without rhyme or reason. I believe every one of these unfortunate victims GBS all want to get better! No one would want to stay in the paralyzed, painful state that the disease causes in them. I know you are enthusiastic & happy for Katie, as we all are, I’m sure, but she also got paralyzed by the disease & got very ill very fast, so maybe the same mechanism that caused her disease to move so quickly also caused her body to get better quickly. Everyone wants to get well as soon as they possibly can, as you can read above, one woman has been in a wheelchair since the disease hit her, and it’s been 9 years, she said since she recovered. Others mentioned that some victims of GBS can’t walk as well as they used to, and some use a cane. Everyone’s different apparently, so I don’t think it’s just their beliefs that cause them to recover completely, or to NOT recover completely, nor could it influence how quickly they recovered. I just think that’s an important fact to remember. 😉💖

I had GBS in 1980 at age 21 subsequent to having a cold. It came on quickly. I was feeling weakness in my upper and lower extremities the night before and the following morning I couldn't get out of bed. I had to literally be carried to the emergency room. I was terrified! Luckily the ER doc had seen GBS before and I was diagnosed quickly via a spinal tap. I had to be placed in ICU on a ventilator and NG feeding tube. At that time there was no treatment for GBS. I was kept comfortable as it ran it's course. I was hospitalized 6 weeks after which I had basically a full recovery. This experience had a tremendous impact on the course my life was taking. I was told I would never get it again but 30 years later I did.
The second time I became ill with GBS I immediately recognized the symptoms, knew what was happening to me and sought medical care. I was diagnosed and transferred to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. This is where I meet the GBS guru Paul E. Barkhaus, MD. I was started on IVG which immediately stopped the illness from progressing further and I began to recover. No ICU this time. I was told I was an unusual case. There I learned that people can have an acute form of GBS or a chronic form of GBS. However, usually with the chronic form 30 years doesn't pass before getting it again. A month spent in the hospital receiving physical therapy and I walked away again with basically a full recovery. Both times I had been under a lot of stress and had just gotten over a cold prior to it's onset.

Maybe the fact that she was so young and not giving up on bringing herself back to where she was is how she recovered so quickly.
I know that if I was in a similar situation or something happened and some Dr. Told me " Oh you're never going to be able to walk again" I would say I will walk again as perfect as before, you just watch me. So much of recovery is our mind and our body working together to say you are not going to defeat me and asking the Lord for strength at the same time.

Except the 'Lord' doesn't exist obviously.

maybe the fact that she had such a radical and risky treatment was what helped her get better so quickly.

Whatever it was, its obviously science.
Its not like doctors are saying OMGosh, it MUST have been supernatural as we have NO answer at all. LOL, thankfully doctors aren't that stupid.

Kim Land I don't believe in god but I can say that it's clear this girls faith was a major coping mechanism which helped her get through this ordeal. But yes without the science she would have not had such a quick recovery no matter how many prayers she got

As an online theist debater, I can inform you that the coping mechanism of her faith is not actually a good thing. It is similar to saying, we she was high on ice therefore the hallucinated drugs helped her cope! Yay for ice!
I realize that analogy may seem to be over dramatizing, but its certainly on par, with a false sense of 'strength'.

What a beautiful testimony and witness to the world. Doctors can’t explain it. There is so much we don’t know. She put her trust in God but she worked so hard for her recovery too. Maybe that’s the key: pray like it all depends on God and work like it all depends on you.

My son had GBS at the age of 6. Going into it in 48 hours and coming out of it in a month. The word 'reversible' was the most comfortable through this scary episode. He recovered fully with his faith in being 'born again' his favourite hymn.

I had something similar happen with my son but it attacked his hips...after 5 days of taking him everyday to the doctor and finally MAKING someone listen they found out it his immune system caused it. Was almost a month of being in the hospital for him to learn to walk again but he’s good and healthy and doing great since..😊
