Ive got one of these from my unit when I got out. Just lube it with mil tech and its runs great. Only done 2 classes with it runs great with old white box fmj.
@Dio Black No, compare images early in video with the end of the video. It slid quite a ways forward. Nothing wrong with the gun. I have a light/laser on mine and never had an issue.
Got one! No laser no light. Use it as my EDC. I always wanted a 1911 after shooting my uncle's colt as a kid that he kept from the Korean war. Over 600 rounds down range with no failures. What drew me to it was the tighter tolerances (but not too tight) of some of the other 1911s that I handled at the gun shop. I love my rock chuckin springfield!
I've got this gun and I just love it. Very comfortable and easy to shoot. I've only got about 100 rounds down the barrel. But, I was at the range this weekend and standing at 10yds I put the entire 8 round magazine inside 3" (no laser). If you're in the market, I would strongly suggest one.
@ 1:28-1:30 you can see the bullet hit about 2 and 3 inches lower than the laser target. Can anyone explain to me what I am seeing? I am new to guns BTW.
Any opinions the Lightweight Champion Operator vs the Range Officer Champion? From what I've read the biggest differences are the rail, the sites, the "Kote" finish, and the ambi safety. Personally I don't really want an ambisafety. Are the sites and Kote finish enough to justify the price difference? Is there other differences that I'm missing?
Both are fine pistols, but if you want a CCW 1911, take a look at Springfield's EMP pistols in 9mm or .40. The are a little smaller and easier to conceal.
Thank you for the feedback, sir. I should have mentioned that I like the .45 ACP round and want to use it exclusively. In addition to the two Springfield's, I'm considering the Colt Defender in .45 acp -- which has a 3" barrel.
You are welcome, sir! I own a Lightweight Champion Operator and absolutely love it. It is fine for carry when the weather is cool and I can wear a hoodie or jacket. In the summer I have a hard time hiding it under a t-shirt or polo and usually carry a Ruger LC9. Given my choice of all three, I would go with the Colt. It has the shortest barrel and frame and would be the easiest to conceal. They make it with slim wood grips to make it even better for concealed carry.
Fantastic! Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences. Based upon your feedback/recommendation I will test fire the Colt Defender and shy away from the Springfields. I already have a full-size (5") 1911 and it's a bear to carry in my waistband. I don't see a 4.5 or 4.0 barrel being very different. That said, I want to shoot the Colt to make sure I can hit my target/s. I too have an LC9, but I cannot shoot that gun very well. And, in the end, that's the most important thing in a life or death situation.
Got one on gunbroker a week ago and awaiting delivery to my ffl. Never see in local shops. Did see in stock online for about $20 less than I got it for. Slickguns dot com had dealers listed.
The tradition you have to look at the sights is pretty much gone? NOT! I have a CZ 75 PO-1 and a Glock 23 and both have a crimson trace. I still practice Front sight acquisition and I practice it a lot. Never rely solely on the laser. It can malfunction. The lasers on my 2 guns is for night time only During the day, I am using the sights Finally, if you have red laser, like I do, your not going to see the dot well, if at all, in broad daylight, especially out past 7 yards. One more thing. If ya don't want the crimson to slide off make sure the gun rail is a picatinny type and use Red Lock Tight!
Frank Morales III Plus depending on where they sit they can foul up and get dim after 2-3 shots. Under the barrel is the worst, grip laser isn't too bad.

The Crimson trace laser was actually sliding off the rail...

If Rob had done another mag would have gone flying

How is it holding up? I have a S&W lightweight 1911 and the recoil in .45 seems unusually stout, and I much prefer the rail on the Springfield.
@@KatoCoyoteCombatWorkshop just passed the 800 round mark and still running great!
@@MkVIIIMaus I appreciate the update man. I went with the new Beretta 92X Compact instead, but the 1911 will always be my first love.

any malfunction with different kinds of ammo?
@@gutadin5No hang ups whatsoever. I've shot both Federal and Winchester through it with issues. Target and defensive rounds. 230gr

Wish more discussion was on the bull barrel vs the ole standard.

Mr Potat0man451 They both got the job done though

Anyone have thoughts on the Lightweight Operator versus the Range Officer Compact for a CCW? Thank you.

getting one, still need to learn to use the sites
Can't find one anywhere.
Crimson Trace makes laser grips for the 1911. Way better. You can add a separate light for the rail.

haha the light/laser was almost off the gun. Crimson trace is not on my want list lol
No, it was coming off
