you've given me so much childhood closure! I barely ever even made it past Tiny as a little kid, and i always wished i knew how to get all the extra gems. That red one near the beginning taunted me as a kid who had no idea how to do that huge jump/body slam. Hell, i had absolutely no idea that there was a jetpack level that far in the game until now. Sometimes,i didnt understand the prerequisites for getting some of those white gems but it was fun to watch someone masterfully get it done. Thanks
For that red one he's not even grabbing it the way the devs intended either. One of the jet ski levels has a secret platform you can get to by hopping on a line of boxes floating in the water that takes you to a bonus level select. You can then run through a bonus stage that at the end of it you fall down a hole and grab the gem, then finish the rest of Snow Go like normal.
The ASMR comment I have to agree with. There’s something so relaxing about hearing the buttons click. I love listening to my bf play games while a nap.
1:04:40 What the... How the... When the... Who are you and what type of sorcery is THIS? I've seen a bunch of speedrunning tricks and techniques over the years, but I NEVER could've seen this coming! Wtf! That's insanely awesome!
I enjoyed this run so much. I love watching epic pro runs like this. However, in 48:41 didn't you miss the box on the top right? Also what's the trick with the Cold Hard Crash box skips? EDIT: Yes i did read some of the comments that covered my questions so it's cool.
100% agree with how annoying the bouncing physics work in NST. The nitro crates bouncing higher than they should in Crash 2/Warped is pretty irritating too sometimes. I actually don't mind the way Crash looks in NST, but I prefer the grittier, more atmospheric art style of the original games over the rounded, clean and almost too cartoonish look of NST. Not to mention I prefer the original soundtrack over NST in most cases. Of the other remakes of PS1 games, CTR:NF is awesome mostly, I really enjoyed Spyro 1 in RIT (haven't played 2 or 3,) and MediEvil is probably my favorite and the only one that did everything "right" imo (didn't change what it didn't need to change, and changed the few things that actually needed to be fixed without sacrificing the feel of the original game. It never once feels like they cut corners like NST does in parts of 2 and Warped.)
I agreed with him too with pretty much everything he said aobut the remake. Comparing them to the originals crash has a weird delay to start moving from dead stop and has this terrible floatiness to your inputs among a few other things that make him more unpleasant to control. Its so unlike the spyro RiG where spyro feels excellent to control and very snappy to respond. Also spyro gives the option to change back to the original soundtrack in game but in crash your stuck with the remade music like why. So I would say hes right to call it a remake and not anything like a remaster where IMO the spyro games feel much more like a remaster where it feels like they tried to be as absurdly 1:1 to the originals outside of art assets and cutscene tweaks. EDIT, I wish both were like the Halo remasters where with a button press you switch back to the original graphics and cutscenes on the fly in game.
yeah i just watched NST gameplay today (never played it, don't have a ps4) and i could tell from the movement it looked a lot clunkier and the graphics are more cartoony.
I like both but I really dislike the new music in the updates. Especially the sewer levels, and boulder levels. They completely changed them and they don't sound as nice imo.
The jumping made it unplayable for me. You literally have to jump at the very edge of pits to make it across most of them. Mixing elements of each game together was the cherry on top of the lazily made remakes. It pissed me off when crash didn't spin around and clunk backwards in the original's remake, then seeing relics were a thing drove that further Plus, they STILL don't get Crash's character that's supposed to be an Insane Science experiment gone bad, not some dopey idiot. He was inspired by Taz, not Goofy.
Your run is incredible and your voice is so sweet! (I haven't seen any other speedruner talking while playing) I wonder how many times you played the game to be that god-like in it! I wish you did more speedruns like this one ^^ Entire games, Crash 1, Crash 3 and Sonics!
So, here is the catch I don't get, in 48:42 there is a box you left unbroken, that brown box in the air. Then finished the line and you get the diamond, something isn't right... Can you explain?
@@manovonor Absolutely not. I understood this since the first minutes. It's enough to see Crash's spin that is not linear but it's bent forward, and the jump is abnormal high... Trust in me, I have the original one for PS1 (and also the first and the third).
Ayo correct me if I'm wrong, but is a remaster a thing that changes mechanics from the original, along with graphics, while remake is only a graphic change?

@@abyssshriek6666 There's a bit of a movement, that is currently being spearheaded by SquareEnix (thanks to FF7:Remake) to differentiate remakes and remasters. The definitions as I understand them being Remake: A remake refer to a game with 'roughly' the same narrative and thematic structure as the source material but is ultimately a game that is artistically, narratively, and mechanically different (i.e. a different game). In the rare cases remasters may feature an entirely new engine, however, feature the same level design, narrative structure, overall themes, and mechanics (in paper, as engine quirks may drastically change the feel and dynamics), thereby being ultimately the same game. [To my knowledge the name remaster derives from music, where a remastered song is effectively identical to the original but is simply offered at a higher quality audio and removes/minimises otherwise unpleasant noises (or noise peaks). However the alternative explanation being that it is called a remaster, because the development team has had more time to MASTER the engine and the game's feel, so it is a Master RE-RELEASE -> Re-master] Under these definitions, the Crash the N-Sane Trilogy, much like Mario 64 DS, despite the new engine, is still a remaster. Where, "Final Fantasy 7 Re-make", "XCOM Enemy Unknown" (yes, XCOM is remake of the original UFO: Enemy Unknown, look up the interview), and (to a lesser degree) "Resident Evil: 2 Remake" are almost entirely new games therefore remakes.
@@Snowfireblues That definition makes no sense. N. Sane Trilogy is a completely new game "mimicking" the older ones. It has totally different graphics and physics. Thank you! I don’t like the GFX in NST either. I didn’t even like the game at all, the mechanics are different, some of the music, I just hated it. They definitely did a “remake” not a “remaster” that’s why I prefer the old school versions on my PS1.
There are glitches being exploited that you don't notice off the bat. Glitch high jump, and wiggling to get to areas that you would need to use death/gem routes to access are a very essential strategy for speedrunning this game. Any% Major Skips allowed category only takes Snow Go, and the boss fights because of the box jumping glitch He's also avoiding a bunch of glitches. In Snow Go, sliding into the bonus round like that is hard to pull off because you can get caught on the wall. You can also get stuck in the platforms on the river and ruins levels if you jump into them incorrectly.
I don’t mind which streamer plays games or speed runs if I see someone playing a game which brings out my 5/6 year old nostalgia they are already onto a winner
Same with level 17 Diggin’ It, 48:06 never went down the left hand fork to get those 6 boxes and clearly missed a box at 48:43 but still got box gem, then died and then went backwards down the left hand fork to get the secret gem then died again still not picking up the boxes.
It's called "glitched high jump", you slide from the bouncy crate, once you are almost going to fall you jump and inmideatly spin so you get more height that the slide jump, finally you do a belly flop so you get even more height.
Due to the recent crash craze since 4 was release I was curious about the WR in this game since it's my favourite... shocked to find smash 64 extraordinaire as the WR holder! Can't wait to watch.
GG, congrats bro, the best definitely! Do you know if exists a download of this game in PAL version? I have NTSC because I live in America, but this version the circle + spin are very slow, and the jump is not so high as the PAL version.
I can see why you don't like nst, as a casual player of the game, nst looks amazing, and is probably the best they can make crash look in the modern day while still looking pretty close to his original design. I also have that issue with his hit box, and them using the same jump arch between all 3 games. Still, I do enjoy playing it on my switch once every year.
so why he just collects boxes and makes extra ways for them but skips some of the fruits? does 100% mean only the boxes count? 16:12 this for example, why does he wait and leaves those two fruits?
Fruits don't count for 100% only the boxes count. And he waits for the boulder to register the box breaking on the background because if he moves forward the render distance may delete the boxes and not register them breaking.
Pregunta, es versión PAL ? Porque en ntsc no salta tan alto y no va muy rápido, también hay lugares donde tú puedes pasar y pisar, cosa que yo no puedo
N. Sane speedrun! The first one I have saw whole without skipping a single second..crash should see a therapist because you definetly abused him more than "Red Light District worker"...have you tried a speedrun on the Remastered one for ps4?
He performed the bonus round glitch, starting at around 53:26. Dying while the bonus round tally is still going lets you keep your boxes while respawning all of them, something that only works in levels with large amounts of crates in bonus rounds and allows you to have way more boxes than normal.
Even more stuff I didn't know about the game here! Can you theoretically get infinite boxes in Cold Hard Crash? Or does it Cold Hard Crash your game if you get too many? Also, I've been meaning to ask someone: Is it possible to get over to the plants just chillin' beyond the exit to the Blue Gem route in Hang Eight? There's probably nothing of note over there, but my mind went wild with possibilities as a kid. Your time means you collected, on average, one collectible every 1:02.439.
The box dupe is based on the bonus, so no you can't infinitely do it. And yeah you can get behind the blue gem area. It has some invisible platforms to ruin your childhood
Is there an explanation somewhere of what happened to the timer on Plant Food when you completed the bonus round? In my experience, dying during the bonus round would give a timer EXTENSION, but yours disappears altogether... does it still count but is invisible? Does it just guarantee the yellow gem at the end?
@@SuPeRbOoMfAn thanks for the info! Have you seen the timer extension given by losing in the bonus round? I noticed it when I was a kid and always used it (NTSC) but I've literally never seen it documented or known about from others... not that it's needed, since you can get it without using advanced tech, anyway.

In this level he missed 3 boxes and get the gem
He performed the bonus round glitch, starting at around 53:26. Dying while the bonus round tally is still going lets you keep your boxes while respawning all of them, something that only works in levels with large amounts of crates in bonus rounds and allows you to have way more boxes than normal.
@@finalformsonic this is alot of thing my brain can't understand it
@@finalformsonic Had the same question on the same time stamp ja02q posted and on Cold Hard Crash but you answered sufficiently.
Could you explain 6:00. You missed a box but still got the gem?
boulder broke the crate
At 58:30 I've done that once not letting n gin fireing his Lazer I tried to do it again but he gets his Lazer off and I get zapped.
How did you get all boxes Gem in cold hard crash when you skipper several?
Is there an explanation somewhere of what happened to the timer on Plant Food when you completed the bonus round? In my experience, dying during the bonus round would give a timer EXTENSION, but yours disappears altogether... does it still count but is invisible? Does it just guarantee the yellow gem at the end?
whenever the timer is invisible, it's still ticking down. You have around 5 seconds or so lenience to make it to the yellow gem from the bonus.
@@ThePharphis Yeah it's known. The clock resets to 1:25 after you die in the bonus iirc. This trick doesn't work if you die before entering the bonus, which in itself is weird.
@@SuPeRbOoMfAn interesting, thanks!
The PAL version works differently with the timers
How long did it take you to practice it?

Watched Crash 1 speedrun yesterday. Just happened to look for crash 2 speedrun today, to find a new record had just been set. It's almost like when I caught up with Berserk just as a hiatus ended. Strange coincidences that make you feel like you're in the matrix.
Berserk is on a hiatus more often than not unfortunately haha.
