If memory serves, its equal parts water and matte medium with a drop of dish soap. Don't quote me on that though.

Of course you have other things to do.
But we liked this series, and since Cursed City is also a Warhammer Quest (and has such amazing sculpts), this is just another series.
Also AoS is quite the opposite to the grim dark future, where you can have shining heroes and darkest creatures.
Not to mention that these "speed paint" videos are always a nice "snack" of your videos.
They are so well made, explaining while doing and also not so heavy on information you have to dig through to understand.
Perfect for starter and returner. Or those that want to play without going deep into painting.
My guess is the final episode will be Guy and Penny playing a game of Blackstone Fortress

Thats funny, I feel the opposite to that.
I find his voice refreshing, thought I cannot watch his videos while painting, because there is always something to discover, or I break down laughting, especially when Penny scolds him for being him.
I watch Podcasts (like Paint Bravely or the Every other Sunday show) to paint alongside.
And for sleeping I prefer music (or just sleep on my keyboard, because my body wants to)
My Favorite paint series..... I wish it had more expansions. Such a cool setting with the Blackstone fortress, and some of the best mini's GW has done.
I've got Cursed City arriving tomorrow and now I want to buy Blackstone Fortress....
On a serious note, there's a lot be to said for how "simple" this painting is. I watch Guy and think "hey I can do that too!" and I mean that as a compliment. Guy has talent and that talent is breaking this paintjob down into easily digestible steps :)
Any thoughts on starting necromunda minis now that you've wrapped up blackstone fortress?
Guy, quick idea after seeing your wonderfully smooth-black palette. Try cutting a cross-section of it after you want to replace it with a new one. I wonder how many layers of paint there are! It will be a bit like tree's rings - each layer of paint is probably a single painting session. :)
well i understand if you wont make a cursed city series based on how the first warhammer quest lost momentum towards the end. also if you didnt get it in the first wave coming late to the party might not be worth it. Looking forward to the next start collecting paint video and the next start collecting battle report. Keep up the good work Guy&Penny

TIP: Put the palette in boiling hot soapy water for 5mins and it will be as good as new!

I think Orks are really forgiving! Also you get to practise armour, fabric, weapons, and skin... although it's obviously green skin, haha

Anyone got any suggestions for getting the halfords primer in the states?
Most automotive plastic primers should be fine... If people are willing to spray it on their fancy $10,000+ cars to fix up their paint and get a smooth coat, it's good enough to spray on a $20 model ;)

Ahhh Guy. That's definitely not the end of a "how to paint" for Blackstone Fortress, since you have forgotten to paint the playable options from the 2019 Compendium: The Harlequin Solitaire, Gren and Dorg Broggan (Ogryns), Pentinent 707 (Arco-flagellant) and Skarburn Zapdakka (Flash Gitz)! Aww so much more to do 😉 And I would love to see it be done 😎

I wanted to thank you Guy for this great series. While I don't think I'll ever play blackstone fortress, you're the first channel I discovered (right after watching Astartes at the beginning of quarantine) who painted miniatures. Since then I've seen may more (Miniac, Goobertown, BMC, ect.), but your relaxing voice, engaging music, and well-made videos keep me coming back.
Now, more than a year after starting your videos, I've almost finished a Squad of Hellblasters, and am eagerly awaiting your Titan videos.

Awesome to have all of the models of Blackstone Fortress finished! It's nice to have the before/after comparisons between both models as you progress through each step, I would imagine that could be quite useful for beginners.

Ok...so the last Blackstone Fortress paint vid Guy did was 5 months ago, I just recently bought the box and began watching his speed paint vids on it and now he posts another one....that's a freaky coincidence XD.
This is really great content, just back in the hobby after 25 plus years and picked up BSF last black Friday on sale and what little else I could get expansion wise. I will very proudly watch all of your videos and use them as inspiration for my hobby and gaming going forward. Looking forward to more and appreciate the quality content!

Hi Guy. Your Blackstone Fortress tutorials are what gave me the confidence to buy a Start Collecting box and try my hand at assembling and painting miniatures. While my progress is slow (still haven't finished that box) I've enjoyed all my time with it so far and I'm proud of my results. Just wanted to say thanks for convincing someone who is usually bad with his hands to give this great hobby a try!

The final modells are painted and having joined your channel somewhere around the beginning of your BSF videos, it was a real pleasure seeing the channel grow and becoming what it is today. You are still in my top 5 list of YTer that I watch as soon as possible whenever a new video comes out and I'd like to thank you for all those brilliant videos that you've created for the community =)
I finished my BSF-collection a couple of weeks ago and now I'm just waiting for the lockdown to finally end so that my friends an I can meet again and tackle the rest of the game (we're currently in the middle of escalation - so this might take a while).
Are there any plans for speedpainting Cursed City videos?
As for the secret final video - IIRC you mentioned buying 3D-printed BSF-terain at some point down the line and my guess would be, that you're painting the terrain pieces in this final video.
Very annoyed GW has almost completely purged all the Blackstone Fortress minis, especially the box that had the Traitor Guard separately.

How’d you like the Vallejo Negro Wash? I didn’t find it as smooth as Nuln Oil. But yours look good.... the Vallejo almost looks more like a contrast rather than wash.

These look great man. The way you've painted them has made me think of the way the Space Wolves are depicted on the cover of the novel Ragnar's Claw. I think that would look amazing on Space Wolves minis.

I just purchased Blackstone Fortress before its gone forever. I have watched and re-watched episodes in this series for pure enjoyment but now I'm excited to start everything over and follow along painting up my set! Thanks for the content Guy!

Long time lurker, first time commenter. Great video with some really nice tips on preparing the mini to make painting it that much easier. I used to always stop at the black and grey zenith primer stage as every white spray paint would leave a spotty finish. I know you're an airbrush officionado and, excuse the unsolicited advice, would highly recommend trying Daler and Rowney white ink through an airbrush for the white zenith stage. I find it reduces the speckling nicely allowing you to drybrush and ink to your heart's delight :) Cheers for the great hobby content.
I already painted these using glaze medium, but can't wait to see this video regardless! You and Always Board Never Boring define my first experience with BSF and all the hype leading up to it

Thank you for this series. I was terrified of painting minis, but thanks to your helpful videos I have painted all of my BSF minis, plus many others. I still make mistakes, but I am much more confident and enjoy the hobby in a way I wouldn't had you not done these videos.
